The more you think about it, the more you realize having a big, offensive star and two-way player on the blueline with a bit of both a physical and pest element to his game is actually such a great thing to have.

Going to be one of the greats.

Having Power and Samuelsson as the #2 and #3 is a nice bonus. They're all so young, we'll have plenty of time to find more in the draft over the next 10 years too.

I am telling you that was the narrative around Dahlin heading into this season.

You can come up with a million reasons why players on the Sabres have had it tough in the past. But, that does not mean that you could count on any of them doing something this season that they had never done before.

Until someone does something, there are legit questions about whether they can do it.

Most people were optimistic about Dahlin heading into this season. But, he is off to the best start of his career even with injuries throughout the D corps causing issues with who his partner is and how much he is having to play. He played just shy of 30 minutes last night.

Dahlin has taken his game to another level so far this season. I don't get why you want to say that questions about whether he could do this were problematic?

Idk, he actually started ultra hot that one year under special K until it got shut down.

Last year he was younger in a new role with no team for the first half of the year. Not sure where this slow start stuff is coming from.

I don't know how you can line up excuses for Dahlin not playing great for the first 1/3 to 1/2 of last year and then wonder where the slow start stuff is coming from.

The fact that you are lining up excuses for his slow start last year is an example that he had a slow start.

Ralphus season 2.0, it took him 7 games to pick up his first point and he didn't have his 2nd goal until game 31, 3 games in Granato's tenure. Then last season, the d-zone struggles and relative lack of points were much talked about. We can't just wave away COVID year(s) when discussing how perception by media folks is that he starts slowly. It's been mentioned on broadcasts by talking heads - that doesn't make it true (like Myers being terrible right up until he arrives in Winnipeg, then suddenly he's good at hockey again, per the folks at TSN).

What happened? Tuned in a few minutes ago for som Dahlin magic and soon realized he's not playing?? Just my god damn luck.

Got dinged in the Carolina game. Some where speculating it was when KK booped him on the shnozz but there was a shift late where he went off in pain and then came back. Not sure what precisely it is, hoping it really is day-to-day and not Sabres day-to-day which in previous seasons may be anything just short of death.

Haha! Gotta love Buffalo fans and their chronic pessimism. Which is completely understandable. Thanks for the update. Appreciate it. It's not often I get to tune in to a game, given the time zone I'm in (wife, 3-year old and working full time). Really disappointing.

Apparently Dahlin may have a concussion, would be an absolutely awful break for the way he's started this season.
When I Google "Dahlin concussion", I get stories from 2019. Do you have a source?

There are no fighters on the team but they have been doing better at "team toughness"'. All five guys sticking together.

They should have swarmed helping Dahlin and not let him go one on one with a combtant. Third man in be damned.

may be playing tomorrow as per Granato.

Sounds like a broken nose. The way he played Friday after breaking his nose, he can have it broken every game. He attacked the net HARD

Tough kid. No doubt. Put a cage on the helmet and let him cook. Cant afford to lose him unless there's potential for further aggravating an injury.

It seems like good news that he might already be playing vs Arizona, although I wouldn't rush him.
