You can say whatever you want about missing posters and all that, but the board as a whole, is MUCH better with Brad Doty and Telos in charge, and most of you guys know what I'm talking about.

I LOVE our board, and the direction we're heading.

I still enjoy this site but i get what you're say OP. since winning a cup, its gotten a little bi polar around here. it just takes longer to sift through the boring jokes to get to the hockey discussions. i find myself on the other sub forums like the Business of hockey or history to get to threads that dont constantly get interrupted every other post.

that said i dont think this place will ever be as unbearable as LGK was/is (been a long time since ive typed those letters)

Was anyone else at Yard House for the little pre-game drinking before a game a few years ago. I was in town and remember meeting Zad, JCD and Diehard. But there were about 12 people, anyone else remember being there?

I was there, it was before a Kings-Ducks game I believe. Zad got a bunch of tickets up in the 300 level...I think he also brought signs.

I remember starting on LGK and then being turned off by the attitude of the posters there. They didn't make new guys feel too welcome. So I found HF. I signed up years back but then something happened on hf where people lost their logins (am I imagining this?) or maybe I just lost my password. So I started this new account. I honestly don't post much since I'm not as knowledgeable at hockey as most of the rest of you, but I learn a lot from all of you. I'm more into the visual/graphic side of things: avatars, gifs, graphics, etc.

I'm a visual person so what ever happened to these guys?:

How can you promote yourself if we never know your name? :sarcasm:

Most people here know who I am.

I guess some of us have forgotten when making playoffs was a joy in itself.

I certainly haven't forgotten this. I became a Kings fan when I was kid, and they were always terrible (my first season was 93-94, right when the dark times started).

To this day, making the playoffs, and being considered a "good" team by the rest of the hockey community still feels a little bit weird to me.

As for this board, I think it's still pretty decent. I've seen a lot of posters come and go though, and there's a lot of posters who stuff I always enjoyed reading that no longer post anymore.

People come and go. Some are long winded and some are insightful. Some people have been on for years and have just matured or found other interest/responsibilities to fill their time. I think the novelty wears off after a while too.

Osprey is still around the main boards.

I never really cared for those posters who tended to pimp themselves or their blogs.

I rarely post but have read nearly every GDT since I joined many years ago so I will give my perspective for what its worth...

Frankly I am glad some of those old timers are gone. A few of them were nearly insufferable to read since they had been beaten down by all the years of losing. I think we have a good mix of posters who remember the losing so are humble in the face of the team's recent success...and we have younger pups who expect deep playoff runs every year now and show more enthusiasm win or lose.

This place was as somber as a graveyard for years, relegated to prospect debates and free agent talk. Maybe we have more gifs and pics in the GDT for various reasons but it helps lighten the mood and keeps things fun imo.

I never played hockey and don't know a lot about x's and o's but have been a fan since about '86, if i wanted to learn strategy and x's and o's id read a book...this place has filled that void for times when i couldn't catch a game and also to just get a sense for how everyone felt about the players in any given game.

Keep it fun here win or lose and I will keep coming back vs the other options i have out there :)

Telos, Scottkmlps, Holden Caulfield & Brad Doty (and Live in the Now even though he's busy running the whole site nowadays) are all fantastic and have everything to do with how well the board runs in general. They are all awesome folks.

Neil from LGK use to bug the hell out of everybody. I miss when CBGB use to go ballistic when the Kings would lose. Was a good laugh.

SuxbeingU, Kingsjohn, AEGwillnotwinthecup, Diehard, Hatter, Captian Ron, Reaper, Tikk, XVkings, bad91, CBGB, Ziggy, and of course my boy Herby are old school posters that have been on here or LGK for quite some time.

Anyone remember Azagoglich or something like that? Guy was a straight nut case.

Didn't PSP briefly change his avatar after they won the cup to a smiley face in general?

He did and it was awesome! I remember his first post with new pic was something along the lines of "Guess I change this now."
Found it! Just remembered while catching up on this thread I had a PM from him back in early 2012 in saved in my inbox and sure enough it was this;

:handclap:
So if he is still floating around he'd still have that.

Not briefly.. he still has it! I believe he works out of town for long stretches (Tampa last I recall) and without Center Ice doesn't see much of the Kings on TV any more, but the avatar lives (and a great tagline too!)

His avatar change and a lot of other gold is in the Championship thread that's worth a bookmark:

Kingsjohn is still here in disguise.

Also, I adored both Neil and The Blaah. I believe The Blaah was Neil. At the time Mike gave a lot of us free run to make any type of alter ego's or use our main to go at people as long as we brought funny content. Mike made my persona, fed it and then squashed it. I understand though. It became a warzone at LGK.

I remember that guy who knew Jack Johnson, he posted a handful of pictures with him (some with them wrestling in a dorm room or something) and went off on anyone who was critical of him. I remember one post where he was irate and said the fans in LA did not deserve to have him.

I think its pretty cool to have been on here as long as I have, I don't post too often and when I do I am admittedly not the most insightful or knowledgeable but i'm still a part of this place. I met a couple of people at Frozen fury a few years ago, Zad, JDM, Diehard and his son, I think a Ukrainian guy whose name is on the tip of my tongue...

I was supposed to meet Little Bunny Foo Foo for a torta a few years back haha. The year (cup year?) where we kept posting Torta's in the GDT.

William H. Bonney hasn't posted in awhile either and for awhile I thought Dingo was RP but the humor was different
