Seriously, how hard is it not to get infractions? Just be a reasonable human being and not attack someone for their own opinions and ignore the baiters. I got an infraction once because I lost my cool and I freely admit I deserved it.

If this was a forum where you could say anything to anyone without repercussions I would have left a long time ago because that kind of behavior gets old real fast.

It is easy to keep your nose clean unless it is during highly emotional times such as the playoffs and, more to the point, immediately following the end of a playoff series as martial law goes into effect on the main board.

I was very much drunk after losing to Chicago last season, made a comment that was not worthy of an infraction but received one nonetheless. Because of my drunken state, I pulled a Nolan Suckerpunch move where it was like "Oh, I'm getting a penalty? I'm going to earn it" and proceeded to be a complete jackass railing against the moderators. That earned me a 30-day vacation because I kept asking for it pretty much.

Moral of the story is: do not post on the main board following your team's playoff exit while extremely intoxicated. Outside of that, it is extremely easy to not earn infactions or vacations. That was really the only time I've been smacked around in my 10+ years on this board.

Thanks for sharing this, because it happens way more than people realize. I lamented when we lost to Chicago because I knew we'd lose a handful of Kings forum posters who got pissed off and went over the edge trolling and flaming, and sure enough we did. Every series loss results in a handful of that team's fans going ballistic and getting themselves banned.

Drunk posting is a frequent occurrence as well.

I got a guy does this all the time on my site. He is a living legend there.

I have given him many vacations over the years, and he has taken some himself. But he is still there.

It was the perfect storm!

Really though, I was way more upset after losing to Vancouver in 2010 but escaped an infraction. This time, the mods in the post-series thread had an itchy trigger finger and deleted my post and gave me an infraction without a warning on something that, in my opinion, didn't even need a warning let alone an infraction.

My vitriol was then unleashed on the mods for what I deemed an abuse of power. Obviously, I was more upset about the Kings losing and being slighted by a Mod led me to take it out on any of them that came across my path.

I'd hate to be a moderator on this site. I hope that, as a reward, the mods are able to see all the posts that have been deleted in an archive or something. That would almost make it worth it as that would be some awesome reading. I'm usually pretty level-headed in my posts but that was not my finest moment last year; however, I'd love to be able to go back and read what I posted because I know I was on fire.

Tony, let's be honest here. I stay on this board and don't wander to the main board because I feel free to speak my mind here and I don't on the main board. You can defend the rules here all you want but the main board can be moderated by anyone and usually what happens is I get infracted for something silly. As I said before I would get infracted by some other team's moderator who took something I said way too seriously and there really is a sense of unfairness in regard to those infractions. And I really don't feel that complaining got me anywhere. I would just be quoted the rules as you did without a real discussion of what I wrote as justification for the infraction. That's the "out" on the main board for moderators: If they just quote the rules (without true applicability), then nothing ever gets resolved in the poster's favor.

To be fair... if you're a Kings fan in the Kings forum your leash is much longer than it is in the neutral site forums or in the other team's forums, where almost anything is considered trolling because by definition, that's almost always why the other team's fans are there - particularly after games. That's not a double-standard - we flat out tell everyone that in the rules! "When visiting the team forums, please note that they are fan forums for that team and are here mainly for the enjoyment of that team's fans. Do not visit team forums to cheer against nor demean their team."

An example....

Let's say the Kings beat the Canucks 11-2. A Kings fan going into the Canucks forum after that loss is asking for it. It almost doesn't matter what you say. Something like "good game guys" in the context of a blowout will be immediately infracted as trolling - even though what actually was said was innocent on the surface. Then sometimes if the person feels wronged I'll get a PM... "this mod is on a power trip! All I said was "good game" and WHAM... infraction"... and I just have to laugh. Like I said, babysitting. Then I quote the rules back and then I hear all about how there's a double-standard, I was jobbed, my life is over, you suck, etc.

What you don't often see is the absolute ****storm of GTFO posts that almost immediately follow, so the moderator takes the approach they have to - infract the ****-starter and delete all of the fallout posts as fast as possible so we don't have to spend an hour cleaning up more mess. This happens dozens of times every day, after every game.

So yes... the bar is much stricter in the neutral site forums and the other team forums because of the fallout (that you rarely see because we delete it fast) from seemingly innocent posts (that probably weren't) and that are taken badly.

Like the other night when Nolan sucker punched the Flames player and then a KINGS FAN went and started a main board thread about it... I mean, come on... infractions galore for flaming/trolling are basically a guarantee.

BTW, if you want a couple of epic threads to read, do a search for "goatlending" and "THIS IS OUT HOUSE". My two all-time faves on this entire site, ever. I think they are on the main forum. If I find the links I'll edit the post.

EDIT: Found the out house thread: http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=740214 I still crack up when I see the edit reason on post #1 "ERROR". ROFL.

and here's goatlending: http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=393055

Sadly some of the photoshop images no longer appear in the threads, but there's still some gold.

The "goatlending" thread is legendary and one of the truly greatest interweb "battles" of all time. I have never laughed so hard at so many posts in all of the years I have been on and around the web.

So great.

But I like the gifs and jokes and off topic stuff :( The Kings have been winning! What else are we going to say?

Neil from LGK use to bug the hell out of everybody. I miss when CBGB use to go ballistic when the Kings would lose. Was a good laugh.

SuxbeingU, Kingsjohn, AEGwillnotwinthecup, Diehard, Hatter, Captian Ron, Reaper, Tikk, XVkings, bad91, CBGB, Ziggy, and of course my boy Herby are old school posters that have been on here or LGK for quite some time.

Anyone remember Azagoglich or something like that? Guy was a straight nut case.

Azagoth, as in, Trey Azagoth from that death metal band. Hard name to forget. Cool guy, I really just had always wondered what Azagoth meant, and didn't google.

Turkey girl/Jokinen and the doll-house were a couple of my favourites that I got to experience live.

And also, let me say thank you to those who have been there...Thank you Diehard. You didn't have to do that. I was really in denial until you read that. Thank you. It broke me but, put anyone else there, who cares about their friends, and you wouldn't want to believe it either.

My point? You are all people I could hang out with to some degree. I don't expect us to be best friends, because that is not the way group dynamics work. But those who take their time to try and help? Well, I've always got your back just like you should have mine.

Thanks again man. It was hard, and embarrassing to even be associated with. Thank you for understanding where I was coming from. Much love.
