For me theses are the right names. The order constantly changes. Honorable mention: Washington.
Philly took over for the Devs a number of years ago. Truth be told, I might even drop NJ and move the Pens up a notch. Could not stand Maryo or Cindy.
Just waaaaaaaaay too much bad blood with the Isles. They have their own special place in hell.
I couldn't care less for the Islanders. I honestly don't even tune in much when we play them because they've been so bad for so long. I got family in Nassau county. All Rangers fans. Went to college in North Jersey so I've spent my time downstate and in the city enough. I know my share of Islanders fans up here though (Utica).
I just grew up despising the Flyers and Devils. Growing up in Utica playing youth hockey most kids around here were Rangers, Devils and Flyers fans.

If your a Ranger fan under the age of 45 and didn't experience the early to mid 80's dominance of the Islanders and how excruciating it was to be a Ranger fan back than while every year they won a Cup, they went thru us, than it's understandable why alot of peeps in here don't have the Islanders at the top of the list.
However if you over the age of 45 as I am and also experienced the dirty ass Flyers from their Broad Street Bully days thru the 80's when they had Dave Brown, Rick Tocchet etc...than this is easy peasy and it can only be:
Islanders-4
Flyers-3
Devils-2
Pens-1

I am sure if I lived through the 80s Islanders or could recall the 90s Devils that would burn into my memory and they would be 3 &3, but neither have been good enough on a regular basis since I started following closely, 05-06. If Montreal was in our division I am sure they would easily be most hated.

Panthers-1: They need to move already.
I used to despise the Capitals in the Langway/Pivonka days but the recent rivalry has been one of the better ones. I don't even care about the Flyers anymore. They used to be 1980s WWF heels but now they're a soon to be AV circus.

We are obviously somewhat close in age than if we are in such agreement. As I mentioned in my previous post, it really does depend upon how old one is, as to who you hate the most as a Ranger fan. For me, it's not even a question that it's Islanders and Flyers and they really are neck and neck.
Here's just one of the many many reasons peeps who are older than 45 hate the Flyers so much. I'm old enough to have hated Dave Schultz but Dave stinken Brown comes awfully close to being my most hated Flyer ever....case in point:

Ott - 2 My vote for worst fanbase on HF. They're not as acknowledged in their craptasm as Tor but they're worse. Tor is kinda fun with their issues. Ott is just delusional, hypocrticial and annoying.

Mon- 1 Their front office being a shit show tempers this but the fans are a mess

Agree but I’d also add Montreal - just from a generic hockey fan in me perspective
The Bruins are the only real relevant team they have and this year might be it for that core. Patriots are done. Red Sox are lol. Celtics are who cares.
I think the other assholes to our Southwest is a bigger threat considering the Flyers and Sixers are both contenders and the Phillies should be soon as well. Eagles just won a Super Bowl but lol at their QB drama.

Of course we agree cause you and I experienced what it was like to be a Ranger fan in the 70's and 80's and having to deal with those Islander and Flyer teams....man did that suck!.
Maybe I'm on an island here on this but I'm a fan of Montreal both the city itself and the hockey team. Now maybe it's because the Habs aren't dominant like they were back in the mid to late 70's but the Canadians nor their fan base bother me at all.
In fact, I'd go so far as too say the Canadian fan base is just about as passionate and knowledgeable about not just their team but hockey itself and other teams as we are. Now Toronto and the Maple Leaf fan base...that's a totally different animal as I can't stand them.
But Montreal? Nah..no probs at all with them.
I dont just hate who's hot right now. I ain't no bandwagon hater! Boston teams could be bottom five teams in all sports for a decade and I'd still derive nothing but joy from it! Joy!

I also remember Tim Kerr being an absolute scoring machine against the Rangers. And Peter Zezel used to punish those teams as well.

I cut my Rangers fandom teeth in the late 70s/early 80s. I hate the Islanders with the heat of a thousand suns. Please shoot the Devils into the sun but the Islanders can rot in hell. I despise the Piles more than any pro sports team. If you are from that era you join in the Potvin sucks chant every time.

I'm a filthy millennial so I wasn't around for the Dark Days of the Islanders Dynasty. I will always hate the Devils the most, more than any other sports team.
