Agreed. Hatred for a team does not necessarily come with how many wins and losses the two teams have against each other. The players and personalities on those teams dictate a lot.
Exactly...some peeps don't understand this. My hatred for the Flyers has more to do with my dislike for dozens of their former players than it was about how many playoff series we won or lost to them.
Hatred for a team or fanbase is multi faceted.
Now the Islanders sure there are some players I absolutely can't stand but my extreme distaste for them does in fact have to do with the pain and suffering I went thru in the early to mid 80's when they were winning all them Cups of theirs.
Yeah the Penguins are annoying and the team and their fan base does alot of whining and complaining but there are no players I absolutely couldn't stand like I felt about Mik Vukota, Baumgarten, Ron Hextall, Dave Schultz, Dave friggen Brown, Rick Tocchet.
The Capitals are the same as the Penguins in my eyes. They don't bother me all that much nor their fans despite them doing their fair share of bitching and moaning. Other than Tom Wilson who I do despise but secretly wish he was on our Rangers, there are no players on the Caps who are truly hateable. Dale Hunter back in the day was a pretty despicable player but he was like the only Cap I can recall truly not liking.
Oh check that....John F'N Druce will always be on my shit list but that's for different reasons than Hunter....lol
I mean shit people complain about Crosby. I dunno...he doesn't bother me. He's a great player and I can respect that.
So when you have a combination of hateable players, hateable fan bases and playoff series that were intense, it's not even close as I said a few times that the Islanders and Flyers are by far my two most detestable teams followed by the Debbies and the Pens/Caps and maybe the Bruins.
