OT: Ranking Our Most Disliked Teams

The fact the Golden Knights are up there is that I just hate everything about that franchise, from their horrid team logo and jerseys up to the atrocious pre-game ceremonies. If I want to see a bunch of uncultivated philistine clowns pretending to be knights, I'll put on Netflix.

I think the order would be different if we had made in the postseason in recent years... I despised Wash and Pitt when we faced them in the playoffs but don't hate them as much now since we are a few years removed from that.

I have such a longstanding hatred of both the Isles and Devils that both of them have to be on top. Marty, MacLean slashing Sundstrom, Cloutier fighting Salo, Simon two-handing Hollweg, etc... there's a lot of bad blood between these teams, and their fans are insufferable (esp Isles fans lately).

I know yesterday I said the Islanders weren't that high on my list but after last nights goon fest from them my hatred for that team has seen a strong resurgence.

Atta boy...that’s what I’m talking about. Nothing like a few fights with the Islanders at the very beginning of game and at the very end when they pull goon shit cause they are getting curb stomped to bring back the hate...lol

Can’t wait as I said in my earlier post till we meet them in the playoffs seeing besides it being great for hockey in this area, it will give some younger Ranger fans(the under 40 crowd) a little dose of of how intense the hatred between the two teams and fan bases really was back in the 80’s and how quickly the hate can come back for those of y’all who forgot!...:nod:

Devils always get 3 for me. The other ones flip flop based on recency bias. Caps were a 3 when we played them in the playoffs each year. Islanders were more of a 1 or 2 when they were at the bottom of the division each year, but now their fans think they're actually good and it's very annoying. Bruins and Habs get honorable mentions.
 
Tough to rank this for me. My levels of hatred seem to rise and fall with the other team's position in the standings. I grew up after the Islanders' dynasty, but my father's intense hatred for that team always sticks with me. On a more personal level, I'd have to go with the Devils how and they used to whip the Rangers during by volatile teens/early 20's.

MON - can’t stand the Habs or playing in their building
NYI - love watching us crush the Isles
ANA - Just hate them

Not just the playoffs. Bobby "Heatbut" Nystrom, Baumgartner, friggin' Vukota.....This poll is probably a reflection of how long you have been watching the Rangers for.

Yup. And not because I don't hate Philly, but because the Crosby/Malkin/Letang era bothered me immensely. Not because they won or were good. It was always because they were cheap shot players, and Crosby whined incessantly on top of it for many years. That made it so much harder to have any kind of respect for the opposition.

That’s kind of true..your right...those early to mid 90’s Islander teams that always used to give us fits as we could never f***ing beat them at the Coliseum we’re very hateable.

You bring up Mick Vukota, he would always be head hunting our skilled guys. I think it was our own Joey Kocur who finally put him in his place with a beatdown and he wasn’t such a bad ass.

But yeah, besides the 80’s, the Islanders of the 90’s were relevant enough and good enough to muster up a ton of hate for them.
