3 years of Kadri at 4.5M for f***ing Barrie and Kerfoot. That is a top 5 worst trade in franchise history, maybe top 3.

Another dumbass move that isn't discussed enough

Trading down to draft Dermott, when Konecny was the consensus pick

He had control of the 2015 draft?

How many suspensions before trading Kadri was acceptable... also a horrible playoff performer.

The one move that wasn’t particularly impactful in the grand scheme but revealed a flawed GM was forcing Sparks into the backup role. McBackup was perfect in that capacity, but Dubas and his misplaced Marlies loyalty made him insert uncertainty where none existed prior. It was comical that he held firm even during camp when Sparks was pure ass and you could see he had fundamental flaws in his game. It was obvious he was going to flame, but Dubas thinks he’s smarter than everyone, when really every goalie commentary I heard was adamant he was a huge gamble. Again, not his worst move but maybe a pretty telling one.

I miss him less each day that’s for sure.

Yup, technically Hunter had input as well but Dubas was running the show as they were, Co-Gms. Dubas wanted to trade down from the Marner pick as well, Hunter had to basically fight Dubas/Shanny not to trade down and to just select Marner. Dubas was reportedly targeting Hanifin around the 8th spot.

So Marner for Hanifin + 34th overall + 38th overall + 3rd

Also I still don't blame Kadri for any of his suspensions. The Bruins did far worse and didn't even get called for a penalty, Kadri had guts and stood up for the team. The league wouldn't call head shots, boarding, knee on knees on Boston. But god forbid one of our guys has enough of it, and retaliates. lol.

Source? I didn't know Dubas was running the draft. Hunter was considered the draft genius, seems weird they let Dubas run it. I thought I remember hearing Hunter ran it and that Dubas wanted Aho over Dermott. The trade down may have worked out if Dubas was actually running it, they would have ended up with Werenski (although I thought Dubas was rumoured to have wanted Rantanen) and Aho, maybe even kept the late first and drafted Konecny.

My memory is not super up to date on this, so I could be wrong, but I think Jack Han was the one discussing this.

Nice to see a unique thread. :thumbu:

For me it's caving to Nylander or Marleau.
Went with Marleau since that pissed me off more.

* I don't blame him at all for Tavares.

I did the Kadri trade.

I don't think JT ranks *that* high compared to some other issues...

I can agree with Marleau, or maybe Murray, but Nylander?

He was the only one of the three he didn't cave to, and the only one of the four who earned his paycheck.
How does he figure nylanders contract is the worst???

You can't blame Dubas for Tavares. No one would give up getting an eliet #1C for free, and at a discount. Ya he's slowed down, but he is still a ppg #1C. Do none of you remember when we had the gallant but meager Bozak as our #1C? Really, some fans of this team have short memories. We are in an enviable position: we have the prospect of winning the cup in the next ten years with this core. But here many of you are, complaining about our captain and Dubas. I've never seen a fanbase so eager for blood.
'Elite' is questionable at best, the 'discount' is hearsay only and he was still overpaid, he's only anywhere close to PPG because he gets half his points on the PP, and he's been a 2C all but the first year (and it was pretty much guaranteed that's all he'd be) and we had Kadri.

His contract has been a handicap to our prospects of winning the Cup, and will be for two more years, which means we basically wasted the prime years of Matthews, Marner, and Nylander.

hi5

So you think it would have been better to have kept him for the last year? If so, I think he traded him in order to resign, was it Kapanen and Johnsson?
It would have been better not to be in the situation where he was forced to trade him.

You waive the Calder winning goalie coming off a .936 sv%? Let's just say... interesting opinion.

Also, Samsanov was a huge gamble last year. Sometimes gambles work.

This, it snowballed to overpaying Matthews and Marner as you said, then because they got overpaid they had to trade Marleau to fit under the cap and gave up the 1st to do that, then because Kadri wasn't as effective as a 3rd liner they dumped him for pennies on the dollar.

The Mrazek and Murray trades sucked too but had nowhere near the same long lasting impact
I don't think though he had to go and cave into overpaying other players after signing JT though. That just shows me he was a poor negotiator.

It's raining.
