Are the Oilers ever going to take goaltending seriously. This is on Pickard. Some bad goals and inability to make a big save when needed is deflated the Oilers team confidence.

Something has to budge, the defence or the goaltending.

Remind me again why the Oilers couldn't keep Holloway and Broberg at less than 7M while they have Arvidsson, Skinner, Kapanen and Klingberg making almost 10M in total

I agree but Bro has 3 points in 2025. Hot start, then an injury and then a regression.

I was pissed we lost him. I'm happy for him. I'm happy the Blues are happy. But this guy wasn't solving our problems. He's also a LD and wasn't taking the Nurse or Ek spot in Top 4 and I don't need to see him at 2RD.

Yup, when we can't outscore our problems we struggle. 5 years of this. You'd think the GM's would look and adjust to this. They don't. They just keep getting forwards and 5/6 Dmen to fix it.

The defense was actually performing well pre-Klingberg. The one constant Achilles heel this season has been goaltending.

Pickard was an AHL journeyman before Campbell imploded. And were it not for his one hot streak all year, Skinner would be back to being near the very bottom of the league in GSAx. If Skinner keeps this up, he might deserve to join Jarry (a fellow Dustin Schwartz pupil) on waivers.

Great regular season team and beating the shit out of my OIlers very thoroughly so I say this at their peak.

Competent goaltending performances requires Competent defense.
Pickard hasn't been great but you just don't allow Ovechkin a dozen point blank shots.
