Karlsson will be going UFA, and maybe Doughty too. They are above McD's tier.
13 million a year.
And no guarantee they come here.

They’re not dealing Mcdonagh without a monster return which would include a stud young dman is my guess
Not sure anyone could step in to McD’s shoes today, but for example if they got a Sergachev type (not saying I expect him specifically but he’s a good example of a young top tier d man) would that be the worst thing? Cheaper for a lot more years than McD, a lot younger, can reasonably be a top pairing player in the very very near future.I do like that. But what young NHL talent is stepping in for McDonagh?
Worst defensive team in the league as it is trading their best defenseman. Am I seriously the only one who sees the problem there?

Neat to look at but it includes very little context. No contract status, ages, draft position, years in league, etc.

Also I think it’s really hard to measure how good or bad this roster is defensively with AV behind the bench. I hope/pray getting rid of him is part of this whole scheme. I truly think they’d be a far superior defenseive team with another coach.
Imo McD is the main guy here they shouldn’t move unless or until they secure an excellent young dman plus as a return. If that’s not out there, re sign him and that’s not a disasterous outcome either. I suspect something makes management wary though - maybe they’ve gotten an idea of what he wants and it’s insane?
Well i know so many here wanted to lose, which is quite honestly pathetic to call yourself a fan and want to lose. Its one thing if going into the season you have a roster much like one of the Sabres the past several years with no continuity, no track record, no playoff experience and as a fan say we should hope we get a lottery pick. Why is it a frustrating day? Did something else happened that I missed?
Lol yeah me either. “Sure he scored 10 points last night but did you see that lazy backcheck?!”The other thing is, Shattenkirk is #1 in this scenario, and I don't think I can mentality tolerate this forum under a Shattenkirk reign as #1 D![]()
The article specifically says they don’t plan on bottoming out and counting on the lottery.Well i know so many here wanted to lose, which is quite honestly pathetic to call yourself a fan and want to lose. But this team has a roster that can compete in this very weak and up for grabs Eastern Conference. They have done as such all season. Losing Kreider might have been the tipping point on the scale. But this team was right there and a couple of forward pieces away from having a more complete roster to enter the playoffs with.
I can understand the decision, although I think its a little soon, but my God it is utterly embarrassing to see Rangers fans celebrating selling off pieces with the hope to be a lottery team which would take a lot of losing because we are on the bubble of a playoff spot. Its shameful. You shouldnt even be allowed to watch, rooting for your team to lose. “Fans”
McDonagh isn't 35 lolWe got 50 cents and a gumball for Brian Leetch. Let's not get ahead of ourselves on the return.
Why do you think trading McDonagh automatically signals a new dark age for 7-10 years?
A rebuild could be accomplished immediately depending on the returns.
I remember this happening last time, and we need this to happen againTell you what, if this actually leads to us signing Erik Karlsson, I'll do something stupid on YouTube again.
Because we'd be getting rid of our best player in an area of the game where the team is already awful. How do you figure the defense actually improves in the next 2-3 years if McDonagh goes?
Coaching change is one way, although it would take more than just that.Because we'd be getting rid of our best player in an area of the game where the team is already awful. How do you figure the defense actually improves in the next 2-3 years if McDonagh goes?
No, I'll be very surprised. And don’t be surprised to see us pry one of Suzuki or Glass from Vegas for Rick Nash.
They are going all in to try and pull the biggest upset in sports history.
Why are u comparing a done 36 year old Brian leetch to a 28 year old Ryan McDonagh that’s being a drama queen nowAgain, the return for Brian Leetch was belly button lint and Rebecca Black tickets.
Mac aside, I'm hopeful that guys like DeAngelo and Graves will ultimately be upgrades over Holden and Staal. Having 3 pairs of good blueliners would be useful.
Trading all of those guys is pretty much says just that. The only reason they wont bottom out is because they have been in the playoff race all yearThe article specifically says they don’t plan on bottoming out and counting on the lottery.
