he's afutue

If he's solid, can't miss future player then why would they give him up for a 37 yr old goalie?
They aren't winning this year..

He’s not a future player... He’s 27. He’s a decent starting goalie. Hank is a much better starting goalie. They’d be moving him to clear some cap and upgrade the goalie position to try and win in one of the next three years while they have a very good team.

I think with Hank they become the prohibitive favorite this year.

Somehow, I want to walk out of this with Noah Hanifin or Jacob Trouba.

Hanifin would be great but I can’t see what Carolina wants for him. Unless they would take a Miller package, I just don’t see it. If they’re moving Hanifin they need a high end forward piece coming back. A package would be too risky for them. Hanifin has huge upside, appears to be fulfilling it, is already quite good and is young/cost controlled. Carolina NEEDS a young legit 1st line forward if they move him. Trouba is more conceivable. Winnipeg has had a bit of a rocky time with him and they can use a top six forward and left side D, and they’re also trying to get competitive. I could see them being interested in all of the guys we’re shopping. Nash, Grabner, Zucc, McD, Miller. I could see all being fits in WPG. I’m less in love with Trouba than Hanifin to be sure, but he’s a more realistic target.

1. Lundqvist is not going anywhere. 2. This is a retool (thank God) not a teardown. Nash was always going at the deadline (can't afford his contract next year) and if the team can get value then Grabner and Holden are also out the door. There's still a youngish core (Zibajanad, Kreider, Hayes, Miller, Buchnevich, Vesey, Fast, (maybe) Letteri, Anderson and Chytill) of forwards. 3. Yes you can ask about McDonagh. Be prepared to pony up a future top pair defenseman (Liljegren, Heiskanen ?) and at least one other prime asset. The price is sky high as it should be. The Rangers desperately need young help on defense. 4. Gorton or one of his underlings probably leaked this to stir up the trade market. Call on anyone.

Hank just isn't movable (even at 4.5) if his numbers dip, so since his stock is high now this might be a very busy, heartwrenching offseason

Heart wrenching? Man, maybe it's because I'm a grown-up now (no offense), but there is no one on the team at the moment that would be heart wrenching to lose. MZA is the closest thing. We're not taking about the Leetch trade with any of these guys though in my opinion. Really might just be a generational thing.

Trade everyone please. Now. This is a good year for this to happen.

I doubt Zucc could perform at a high level for another 3 years, let alone 10.

You do realize that the amount of players who stay productive into their late 30's is astronomically small right? Just because St Louis did it doesn't mean that Zucc can.

I think the Rangers have overachieved every season AV has been here until this one. I think he’s run his course.

Honestly, I’m ready for the entire team to move into the next phase. Trade everyone. Fire the coach. I’m not talking about tanking. I’m talking about accelerating the transition.

When I worked in a highly corporate environment, something I always excelled at was skipping to the end of the conversation. If we already know where we will end up, let’s just go there now. That’s what I’m talking about here.

Couldn’t agree more.

Wishful thinking imo.

Wishful thinking? Zucc will be 40 in 10 years. He’s one of the smallest players in the league and he does engage physically. He had a head injury so bad he couldn’t speak. The likelihood that Zucc is still in the NHL, let alone playing at a high level, in 10 years is probably less than our odds of winning the Cup this season.

I agree with you. I think he has 2-3 goos years in him before he starts to decline.

Also i have nothing to base this on but for some reason Zucca strikes me as a guy who'd fall off the cliff overnight type decline.

Idk zucc relies more on his hockey iq to make plays, and if he stays healthy, he will have a long career

Playing until 34-35 IS a long career. If he has 3 more good seasons in him and then tapers off with 2-3 mediocre/weak seasons until he’s out of gas he’d be about 36.

40 is not a reasonable expectation. Less than 100 players in any position have ever made it to 40 years old.

Meh, it may be wishful thinking to think he can be 60 point Zucc for 10 more years, but that doesn't mean he's not worth keeping around.

He's a guy who has a great cap hit now, he has always taken fair deals, he loves being a Ranger. He's a heart on his sleeve guy. He's a veteran you keep through the retool and even if he's not a top line guy anymore, he would most likely re-sign for yet another fair deal. If they can pull a great deal for Zucc you gotta do it, but if it's just crap being offered, trying to get him on the cheap then I'd hold onto him. I'd then re-sign him for another deal around what he's making now. Let him continue being a lead by example veteran. Guys like that are huge influences on young players. Seeing a tiny non drafted player make it as an NHLer and seeing how hard he works. I'd totally be down for keeping Zucc late into his career even if his play tailed off. He could be a great third liner and PP specialist.

-24 (+-) Erik Karlsson is not what this team need in return of Ryan Mc, come`on - we have enough defensive issues with 1 of Shattenkirk. Jeff G. is not that crazy, and glad he is from Boston. Who is one year younger than Ryan Mc. and L. Brooks have mention this for a while now to move Zucc, and believe one of his reason is his size, and the magic age 30 thing in New York. Although as I mention in this league you can only go that far without decent chemistry and without a proper snipe role player which has been lacking since 2014 and both Nash and Marty was good to finish plays before his decline.
Yes he will return a 1st for nothing since he was not drafted - it was a free pick for Rangers years ago. Personally I enjoy the thoughts of John Tavares to New York instead, or get early draft picks who can be the next elite player kind of talents in 2018-19 drafts.
