Another win.... that’s the good news..
Nemeth in for Jones- not a fan:
McKegg still in the line up....smh
Barron getting no time, in Hartford or with the big club, even though he’s demonstrated he deserves it....
If I’m this kid, I’m getting really pissed off. These are the type of show me games he should be playing in....
I’m not going to harp on McKegg, because once kakko comes back, and Drury makes at least 1 add( which he will)... McKegg is an afterthought..

I’m very happy Gallant seems to be a good motivator, knows his team, and his team seems to
respond well to him...
Some of these line up decisions make no sense.
At this point, don’t know how anyone can grade GGs performance so far below a B- considering our injuries and slow starts from some key guys...
No one is gonna agree 100% with everything he does, but bottom line is he’s winning.

I have no doubt we’re adding at least a Lehkonen/Connor Brown type. And Drury is going to make a big splash in the offseason..
This team is very much still in transition, but we have a solid chunk of our core foundation in place already..
LaF/kakko need to be better next season..

Is mckegg slow? Everyone looks normal congratulating Shesty down the line, until Mckegg. Is he some sorta idiot savant that cant read but can play minimal NHL hockey?

Of course he can read. The reason why he is even playing is because he consistently aces the pre-game quiz that Turk hands out to the players. Questions like "Make a pass move your ass? T or F". Stuff like that.

It's Barron who can't read.

I shoulda stuck with my original comment of there will be no easy games from now on. But, with Ottawa playing a ton of makeup games and us being fresh off the layoff, I thought this might be a blowout. I thought the Sens would be a tired team, but they played hard and aggressive the entire night. Kudos to them as they were a worthy opponent. Shesty had to be on top of his game to get the win. Not that we were out played, we matched their intensity and scored some timely goals. It was a hard-fought game by both teams, which I really didn't expect would happen under the circumstances.

But it is getting close to crunch time,... playoff style hockey with not many whistles being blown, making for tight checking, low scoring affairs.

It was a well fought two points.
It's gonna be very meaningful we can win these types of games going forward.

. Laf really stood out with some nice plays, along with buying time for K and Z to change and taking on two guys in the corner that eventually wound up generating a chance for.
Igor was Igor. We are spoiled. Miller was off. Nemeth got better after the first. He isn’t going to wow you with his wheels. He’s best when gapping and closing guys off on the wall. Strome with a good game, Panarin, too. Really going to need to grind out wins until they can get help. When you’re icing McKegg and G and Hunt nightly on any line other than the fourth, you’re in trouble. Chytil looked good again. He’s just up against it playing with those two guys. Fourth line better after the first. Schneider is a stud.
Sorry but I have to disagree with your assessment of Chytil. I thought he looked off and soft again.
Could the injury bug be on him again.
Just don’t see him getting any better, wish he would with that size and speed. But we all have different opinions

Totally agree. I was surprised it was so close with Ottawa on a back to back and them having played a lot of hockey lately. I was expecting something like a 4-1 win but give them credit as they played hard. Our bottom 2 lines can't score either which I hope changes when we trade for some scoring depth and get Kakko back.

Glad to see there’s not too much complaining after this one. Good road game. Could have had a couple more goals.

I hate Ryan Strome again, but in fairness he had a pretty important blocked shot tonight. So did Zib.

Really looking forward to seeing this team post McKegg with some legit middle six players inserted.

I'll believe it when I see it.

The big guys made some gutsy defensive plays at big moments. Strome/Mika blocks obviously but Kreider coming back to knock down Sanford on a partial break was huge

Even though our bottom lines don't score, you can't underestimate how hard they play in the offensive zone. They have been spending a lot of time in there and that is more valuable than you might think. It keeps the opponents from scoring in our end and softens up and tires the opposing D.

Since when does any team expect scoring from their bottom six other than chipping in once in a while. I think our 3rd and 4th lines are probably one of the reasons we have done so well this season. And those bottom six are why we are right up there as one of the league leaders in hits.

You two debating each other? Where am I?

I was expecting more but I'll take it

We really need to get help. We have 2 4th lines... one is arguably a 5th line. Reavo is effective with 8-9 hard minutes.

Do something Drury... we need at least 2 forwards, who knows when Kakko is getting back

The fact that we have a fourth line and a fifth line is really more of an argument for not doing anything. At least not anything expensive.

This has been our main problem for years now (lack of depth) and it’s beginning to get real glaring that our GMs can’t find better cheap depth.
