Right, but that wasn't our defense at the end of last year.

All I'm saying is that fans are irrational. They contort thinking whatever way they want to think their team can still win.

I just don't have a good feeling about this upcoming season, and signing two middle pair defensemen doesn't change my thinking on that. It only confirms what I thought about this GM that he is every bit as irrational as his former boss.

Or maybe you're just not that good at evaluating defensemen?

SPECTACULAR contract.. Didmt even want shatty all that much...by at this deal.. Youd be a moron not to sign it if you're the rangers.

I wasn't in favor of signing him because I expected that it would require a 6 or 7 year commitment, but the term in this contract is perfect. We haven't seen the clauses yet, I don't think. Hopefully the final year isn't an NMC.

Quite possibly the worst analysis ever posted on this forum.

Without a doubt. This is the NY Rangers. They aren't going to intentionally tank to get a top draft pick. This deal is a home run, and anyone who complains about it lacks credibility in my book.

Yeah, nobody gets it but you. Of course.

What exactly is your preferred route for them to take?

Didn't say that.

My preferred route is shedding big contracts, not adding more.

This team is mediocre, heading for the same type of season as last season, but some of these East teams look improved, so we might not even make the playoffs.

Our window is done. Fans can't accept it, GM can't either.

Lets see all the contorting at the end of next season.

And boy, aren't we all glad they didn't trade assets for him at the deadline

Traded minimal assets at the deadline for one of our Top 4 guys. Got the other for just $$$. The intact core of Stepan-Kreids-Nash-McD-Staal-Girardi that had about 7 "kicks at the can" got shaken up and new, young blood brought in. Excellent job by Gorton and I don't think he's done.

Window is done? The roster is materially different than two years ago.

So their teams are wise and their authority is credible, but our team isn't?

You realize neither of those teams have gotten as close as the Rangers since I don't even know when, correct?

We didn't get pretty far last year or the year before.

What don't fans realize? This team is declining, they are going in the wrong direction, and many of you want more big contracts.

Quite possibly the worst analysis ever posted on this forum.

Smith and Shattenkirk are like opposite types of defenders. How are neither of them what we needed? We needed defenders. Durrr.

Must be pining for a #1 center. He'd be right about that, but there aren't any in FA and no guarantee that the only one in next year's free agency class will even make it to the market or wants to come here. The next best thing for your offense is an elite PMD and that's what we just got. A bird in hand, they say.

Oh, also, Shattenkirk is a plus defender. That narrative that he is not, is simply a lie.

The AAV I thought Shatt might get, but for 3 fewer years.

I'm not big on the player but you have to argue that's a bargain, considering the term Yandle got this time last year.

You are posting as if we have him the Yandle contract . We didn't. There is no logical reason to be upset by this.

Actually, no I am not.

Never said it was.

All I said was that he's not worth 6.65 per year unless he magically learns to play defense, and this team is going in the opposite direction for a team offering long-term contracts to UFA's.
