Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Sharks: The LOL Edition

This team can't score goals and it can't defend. Maybe this will be a wake up call to fans here. Torts played that way because he knew what he had, and that's a team with poor offensive talent with a good goalie and good defense so he played to his strengths. Now this new system opens things up and you get what you're seeing: this team still can't score and its defense has been exposed
 
Can't wait for all the positive guys to come out saying, "It's only game 3 of the season. Ok, let me ask you this, how do you know this is as bad as it will get? It may get worse unless we just lay guys down in the crease to block pucks all day long. This group has proved it does not have a clue what system they are trying to play. But enjoy the rest of the season.
 
I had a nightmare last night that the Rangers ended up losing 9 -2, Nash was concussed, and a rookie scored a hattrick then Malik'd Biron to throw salt in the wound. I think I took too much Nyquil.







Oh god it was real, it was realllllllllllll!
 
This board ****ing sucks when we're not playing well. I don't know why I even bother.

Tighten it up and play better on Thursday.
 
our greatest concern.is the health of Nash. without him, we are a lottery team.

im concerned about the camp and preseason this team has had under AV. not a very good showing for our new coach.

hopefully people finally can see how brutal mdz is regardless of the system he's in. Also how overrated Girardi is.

true but.considering.how bad.our.preseason looked and how despicable our defense has played its a real concern. a loss in a back to back is one thing, but they looked dreadful yesterday.

losing.Nash.this season.and.a.losing season with more of the above could make Hanks decision
alot more.easier....
 
someone should of KO'ed hertl after that goal

remember when anisimov did that shotgun pump celebration against tampa a few years ago and VC attacked and pummeled him? that's what a real team does when they get embarrassed...the whole ranger team should of went over to hertl and lay a beating on him....even old school dave Maloney said that if hertl tried that in circa 1972 in philly or boston, he would left the rink with only one arm intact....real disgusted with the team after allowing that,,, inexcusable,,,Callahan should remove the 'C' from his chest....sorry he is not a leader to allow that to happen...and the whole team just sat there like idiots

A 19 year old kid scored his first nhl hat trick and was left all alone to go in for the fourth goal. I would have done the same thing if I were him.

Maybe the Rangers should have defended better so that Hertl wouldn't of had the chance to score 4 goals.

Ps- it's not 1972. Welcome to the 21st century.
 
I am more embarrassed than anything else. The lack of any kind f response or heart or "give-a-****" was downright embarrassing. I would be ashamed if I were in that locker room.

I've sort of been having a much less aggressive version of this conversation with the Sharks fans.

The way I see it is that yes, Arty did get messed with quite a bit for his celebration.

Hertl essentially did the same thing, but before the whistle, so there were no official consequences.

The bottom line is that it will get taken care of.

If the Sharks guys don't have a discussion with him in the room about it, there will be retribution down the line.

Keep in mind that he's just a kid, and he's European, just like Arty. He really doesn't know the NHL etiquette quite yet.
 
The Kings were blown out 8-2 at Detroit the year they won the Cup.

The Rangers could have lost this game 15-2. Chalk this one up to the schedule makers.

Like I said during the preseason, if the Rangers can open at MSG with at least four wins, they'll be fine.

And its not only the fact that the Rangers are on the road -- look at who they are on the road against and how well those teams play at home.

No sugarcoating this one. Win the next one and move on.
 
Bigger, stronger and faster teams have a tendency to put up crooked numbers against a tired team still finding itself in a new system.

The team as a whole did not play one complete -re-season game. Alot of guys got looks as AV was evaluating his staff without the benefit of having Stepan, Callahan and Hagelin.

The biggest concern I have is that the Rangers seemed to knuckle under without Nash in the 2nd period.

4 goals in 4:16 span puts the game away.

Does the team have any heart? Where's the pride?

It's early. I know. I get it.

Still frustrating.

the 2 kids that got the 2nd and 3rd least amount of ice time smoked us.

Hertl scored every 4th shift.

So a team should just roll over? Was pride labeled as extinct post 1972?
 
Don't want to hear about back to backs. You shouldn't be tired this early in the season. Only two games prior to last night. Not an old team.
Must be poor conditioning.
 
Yeah, that was embarrassing.

Not the fact that we didn't go after him. I'm embarrassed by the fact that we allowed someone to score that....

This seems like a more reasonable approach than arguing that everyone on our defense is overrated and sucks, our goaltender now sucks, our coach sucks and his system sucks, etc.

I don't think it's about people "sucking", I am just VERY surprised that no one got pissed enough to attempt to do anything about it.
 
I have no issues with Hertl doing the Malik there.

The Rangers showing emotion in that spot would have been more embarrassing than the final score.

Emotion in that spot is mis-guided.

Emotion after the Stuart elbow, good spot for it. - Nada

Emotion during the 4 minute outburst in the 2nd good spot for it. - Nada

Emotion to start the 3rd, hitting fighting, scratching clawing, good spot for it. - Nada.

showing emotion when the game is 9-2 because a kid pulled a slick move? = Pathetic.

There was more than enough time for thsi team to show emotion the did nothing when the opportunity presented itself.
