Pretty much. I mean I'm a fan of the Jets and Mets as well. I get negativity and pessimism, I really do. But the people that exist on HF simply to come out after losses and *****? Get the **** outta here.

Whatever, everyone is entitled to an opinion. Trashing your own team isn't against the rules. It is what it is. Just really tiring.

What about the guys that ***** in good times and in bad?

It's not enforcers that are needed. They need players who genuinely give a ****.

and if you don't believe that teams play bigger and with more confidence when they have those guys on the roster, then this discussion is going no where.

The enforcers, as if their job description, engage. That's what they do. They know when to get involved physically and Stuart would have been addressed the moment they were both on the ice.

Not having that type of player to set that tone is a problem.

And when you acquire alot of soft players, you really shouldn't expect them to start anything.

Stepan, Richards, Pyatt, Pouliot, Brassard, Nash, Zuccs, D. Moore and to a large degree B. Boyle are all soft players.

Callahan just getting back from Injury should avoid the rough stuff to start. Asham and Dorsett should be ashamed of themselves today

In the midst of a 9-2 loss I'm a little disappointed that nobody jumped Stuart or Hertl for that showboat goal up 8-2. Somebody should have welcomed Hertl to the NHL with a beatdown in front of his mom. But I guess that would of required pride or guts from the Rangers, who don't seem to have either.

I switched off the game at 2-1 in the second to catch the Red Sox game and turned it back on and had to do a double take when I saw 6-1.

This team reminds me of the Rangers when Torts took over the HC job. I remember a game in Pittsburgh where every time they pinched, the puck got by them for a 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 the other way. The team also seemed to be very disorganized. I think after that is when Torts decided to play a tighter defensive style.

I didn't see all of the goals but the ones I did see make me scratch my head. I just can't believe how soft and stupid these guys are playing. Leaving guys alone in front of the net. Letting guys get between the D. Is it coaching or the players? I think we'll have to see how this turns out but I would say from what I've seen this year, their is reason to be alarmed by the start of this team.

Also, I have no problem with Hertl scoring that way. I do as PLD says, have a problem with the overall lack of emotion on this team.

I like fighting. I like hard hitting. Enforcers are useless.

It has to be a team identity. If you assume (1) player is going to make the difference, then the rest of the team is lacking.

It's like expecting one player to change a team from the worst offensive team in the league, to the best. Not going to happen.

People would've thought it was the coolest thing ever, like that stupid Anisimov thing from a couple seasons ago.

Theres not one defining moment from last night's game that bothered me -- instead of was the collective lack of desire and pride the entire game.

So I have no problem with his goal. It was a nice move that took lots of skill and it was nice of the Rangers to give up and let him go in all alone and do that.

We all demanded better scoring options. You bring in free agents to alleviate the scoring concerns but they're not gonna care. The Nash's, Richard's, Pouliot's don't really care. Now were stuck in the middle, we can't score and they don't seem to care.

The only way to have the best if both worlds is to develop our own superstars. We don't have the best track record for developing high end offensively talented players.

I'm finding that we around here have a penchant for semantics arguments where we take unimportant words and details used to illustrate a point, ignore the point and focus on the minutiae of whatever the hyperbole is. The first month of the season is pretty meaningless. I tend to just enjoy it for what it is -- real hockey.

The most important months are February and March. February because it gives a coach and GM a real idea of how close the team is to competing for a playoff spot/Cup and March to solidify either a playoff spot or a high seed.

The 2010 Rangers started out 7-1, then got smoked at home by SJ in a game Torts had Biron start. Enough of Biron against good teams.

The 1993 Rangers started out 7-2 and missed the playoffs. The 1994 team started 4-5 with two horrible losses to expansion teams. The 2002 team started out 14-7 and missed the playoffs.

The 2007 team gave up 23 goals in their first five games. They finished 2nd in the EC in GAA that season.

Im not going to deny how excruciating their play has been from the start of the preseason. Something isnt clicking. But with the renovations and high expectations, dont expect a fire sale or any major moves. This team was designed to attract attention and possibly contend.

We're stuck with them, so just deal with it.

I disagree. We've all seen season that were lost by Nov.1st. Bubble teams need to get wins and get them early.

I generally agree.

But a loss is different than a 9-2 loss in my mind. You have to try to lose that hard or, more specifically, not try.

What right does this squad have to turn in a performance like that in front of a brand new coach? Its disgusting.

Totally agree...I hate the "I told you so stuff" but I also hate the "i'm the better fan because i can persevere" stuff too. I also agree that this is only the 3rd game in a new system but what worries me is that even learning a new system, the heart shouldn't be as issue...it has been this young season.

Well, that was bad. Hard for me to chalk it up as just another loss when the Rangers haven't given up that many goals since Redden and Kotalik were on the team.

The lack of resiliency last night was disturbing. We all knew the Rangers were going to face adversity to start the season, and if last night's game is any example of how they deal with it... oh boy. Learning a new system and playing a back-to-back games is no excuse for the players to just quit like that.

Not every game is going to be like Monday night against the Kings. Bad breaks and injuries happen all the time in this league as evidenced last night. The players are going to have to man up when things don't go their way and at the very least limit the damage so things don't spiral out of control.
