All due respect to Ratelle and Hadfield - Lundqvist's retirement is much more meaningful to this generation of fans. Especially since they're not waiting 30+ years after his career is over to retire his number

This is exactly it. Lundqvist debuted on the Rangers when I was 15. A sophomore in HS. He played on the team for half of my life and pretty much all of my adult life. Every meaningful game this team has played since the 97 conference finals, he was on the team. I was too young for 94. I was 4 at the time of the cup win. There is a large chunk of fans in my demo that Hank is the best thing they've ever seen on Garden ice.

I could not miss this game even if you paid me an enormous amount of money. The ticket is invaluable to me and others. I went to David Wright's last game, I couldn't miss it. This is 10 times more important to attend. It sucks that people will not be able to go because they cannot afford to go or that there just aren't enough seats in an 18,200 seat arena. I know if this situation happened 6-7 years prior to now, I probably would be shit out of luck too.

I am sure MSG will do an amazing job with this on TV. It's never subpar. The seat in a bar or in your home will be great for the ceremony too.

I bought the weekday mini plan. There are a couple games I know I won't be able to attend but i have friends that will buy them off me. I dont think i will even need to go the TM or Stubhub route .

But with digital tickets - how will I get the tickets to friends? They have to have the MSG app and you can transfer internally? Anyone know?

All they need is a ticketmaster account. You get their email, enter in their name and transfer it over to them. They'll get the email and accept the tickets. Barcodes will then be available on the ticketmaster app.

Taking my nephews to a wrestling show at the Barclays in November, interesting to see Barclays Center events leaving Ticketmaster and working with SeatGeek going forward.

I noticed this is listed as a benefit under Season Ticket Holder benefits.

I thought I read somewhere that it might be tied into the new scannable QR code on our membership card in the MSG app but not sure if this is what people were referring to.
I assumed at first it was only for new people to get them to sign up like when they offer free jerseys, but wondering if this is for everyone.

Food and Beverage Discount
Receive 20% off food and non-alcoholic beverage purchases at The Garden

It's on this page on the site: New York Rangers Membership Plans

So judging by the Ticketmaster map, home opener Thursday doesn’t look like it’s going to come close to a sellout. They released all tickets held back for plans and even slashed prices a ton.

A lot of people have become quite savvy about buying last minute tickets. There’s no need to secure tickets way beforehand and the best deal to be had 99% of the time is to wait up until almost faceoff when all the sellers who have to sell start bottoming out. The ease of transferring tickets has made the market more efficient.

Looks like MSG changed the bag policy back to what it was.

Madison Square Garden asks all guests to arrive early and travel light. Bags must fit comfortably under your seat, and oversized bags larger than 22” x 14” x 9” are prohibited. Madison Square Garden does not provide an area to check bags, coats or any other personal belongings. For guests with additional needs, please contact Guest Relations at: 212-465-6225 or [email protected].

does anyone know what the chase lounge is?
It is the old Garden Bar and Grill. I used to go there for dinner once a year. Think it was closed last year, at least not a buffet. Asked rep when I saw him in pre-season, said it was gone. I believe you can get reservations, if you have a Chase card, but not sure if it is through the reps or if you have to call Chase.

So does anyone know if New York provided MSG a Covid exemption from the paper ticket requirement? I received an email today from MSG that said:

Below are some “Things To Know” as the season is just beginning:
  • We are a fully digital ticket arena – please see the digital ticketing tutorial attached for instructions on how to access and transfer your tickets via the MSG App.
I can't imagine they have any plans to revert to hard tickets going forward. How can they do this if the law requires it?

The law requires hard tickets? I thought it just required the ability to transfer.

I think the days of owning season tix might be a thing of the past. So much supply out there. Fees are insane. Can get games cheaper than face few days before or day of. This may be my last year. I only attend maybe 10 games a year. May make more sense to own seasons if you attend most if not all games. I only hold on for playoff rights

When I was younger, I made 30+ games a year and loved it. As I got older, I went to less. At one point after being married, 20 was my high. Now that I have a toddler, I have to suck it up for 5+ years before I can go to more than a handful.

I've found that the most people I know holding on for playoff games, are holding on to sell the bulk of them anyway (unless they make the finals).

Yea i had season tickets since 2000, got rid of them last year. Wasnt worth it anymore, even having dead center ice seats in the 200s didnt matter, you still ended up losing money. Even getting to the city these days is such a pain in the ass, never remember it being so difficult.

I'm fortunate enough to live up the street. What makes it a pain? My colleagues tell me that the busses and trains are empty.
