Grubbs is starting to come. Remember, he is coming off significant knee surgery. He should be better the second half of the season.
I forget... was this draft conducted by the 'old scouting regime' or the new?

Why isn’t Ollas playing?
He's second or third on the depth chart. The undisputed starter (for now, anyway) is Borgiel. There's another guy that split time in net a couple years ago who is fighting for the backup spot with Ollas.

Forgot to give the update from Saturday for Kempf. Got distracted. Hank was pretty solid again in a 1-0 OT win. No glaring mistakes with the puck. His passing was solid, and he nearly scored a goal, ripping a shot and double-doinking it off both posts. He celebrated super hard though and was nearly caught out since the puck was still live. Defensively he didn't have a lot to do as he and whoever his partner was would be able to quickly transition from D to O. His biggest weaknesses defensively right now are positioning, balance, and strength. He'd try to make a play and just bounce off guys who had the puck. Though to be fair to him, he's at least 2 years younger than everyone on Alaska's roster at just 19.

The way Cornell has been rotating the defense has been kind of weird. There are 4 "set-in-stone" regulars and 3 guys fighting for time. Kempf should have a natural advantage as a more stay-at-home type but he's not going to see any special teams time this year, and maybe not even next year with only 1 senior defensemen on the team. Based on the playstyles of the players he fighting for time with, I think he's going to end up a solid part of the 3rd pair this year. He's definitely a project will likely stay 3-4 years at Cornell. He's more polished offensively than I thought he might be, but I don't see him being a big producer even in college, since I just don't see him getting the PP time. He got a nice shot, a good first pass, and was more cool under pressure in his own zone with the puck than most freshmen. I need to watch more on defense since it didn't feel like he got a lot of looks in the defensive zone but he does need to improve how he handles defending the rush. His skating won't blow you away but it's fine.
