Cuylle had 2 goals giving him 8 in 11 games and Othmann had an assist. Cuylle's two goals came 12 seconds apart in the third to tie the game at 2.

Kempf had his first collegiate point, an assist. Ollas stopped 27/30 in his second start. Berard had an assist. Hughes has an assist.

Korczak with a goal. Rempe is not in the lineup tonight, he may be banged up.

Kempf got his first assist tonight in a 5-4 win over Dartmouth. He didn't really have much to do with the play but it's good to see him get on the board. It was a good weekend for Kempf as he got a more extended run in the team, including getting some PK time. He played with a super senior and captain on a very defensively strong pairing. He made a few mistakes, including one on Friday that led to a goal, but he wasn't benched and continued to play pretty well. Especially on O-Zone draws he's quite trigger-happy from the point and the team clearly emphasizes that putting him on his offside to set up a one-timer. His shot is very good. Definitely NHL caliber. It's not going to wow you and he's nowhere close to an elite shooter, but he's good. He's definitely not going to QB a PP with his passing especially along the blueline but he's good enough to handle the simple passes. He had good and bad moments in the D-Zone but nothing extraordinarily bad.

Looks like they took away Cuylle's 2nd goal.

Garand stopped 27/28. He has allowed just 7 goals in his last 5 starts and has a SV% of .944 in that time.
I really hope this kid can fill the void. Beyond shesty, we have nothing in the system close to becoming an NHL starter. Hopefully the kid stays hot, I like his tools

Happy to see Grubbe and Korczak playing well too

Also, Rempe was suspended for something that happened in his game on 11/5. I have no idea what it was (I didn't watch the game) and it's hard to figure out as it was just announced as supplemental discipline, length TBD, with nothing else stated. He had a fight early in the game but played the rest of it and took a hooking penalty in the third, but nothing else that jumps out at you. He missed the next game, I have no idea how long he'll be out.

Watching Jayden Grubbe's fight with Carson Lambos (Minn. 1st 2021) on Hockeyfights. Lambos had the edge for a while. Grubbe came back and the fight ends when Jayden switches hands and catches Lambos in the mouth and knocks him down. Being able to switch hands in a fight can be a big advantage. Quite often it completely surprises an opponent.

I can't believe that's still a website, you're lucky if you get a fight once every couple of games in today's NHL.

It's great to have an advantage in something that will be outlawed by the time you make it to the NHL :sarcasm:

ENG for Othmann to finish the hatty. 8 goals in 8 games for him.

Shooting forehand from the slot on a breakaway is so simple but so smart. Goalie can’t do anything but guess. I would bet that’s a higher percentage shit than selling out one way or the other.

My biggest gripe with this tweet is that this guy is:

1. Using season totals to judge a player
2. Uses a model aimed at juniors for the Swiss League, a rare destination for NA draft eligibles

It's a weird career trajectory to use for these metrics.

Then there's the way his season unfolded Started out with 15 points in 17 games, before going cold with 0 in 13, but his team was 0-4-9 including an 8 game losing streak in those 13 games Once the team recovered, Othmann's production picked up again with 3 points in his final 8

  • 3.18 G/GP during the 11-4-2 streak where he had 15 points
  • 2.76 G/GP during the 4-9-0 streak where he had 0 points
  • 4 G/GP during the 5-1-2 streak where he had 3 points

When you have people relying on models based on season totals and do not take 10-15 minutes to look into how a player actually played, you get flawed narratives. In addition to that: I don't expect a 17-year old draft eligible kid to carry a pro team when they hit a cold streak.

Othmann has been impressive in the OHL and the experience he gained, he's benefiting from. He needs to build on this. Unfortunately, he won't be AHL eligible until 2023-24, so it's another OHL season for him nuless he cracks the team.
Also, analytics are great for a player who has plateaued, reached a consistent performance level. But for a kid who’s developing, looking at past data is almost like looking at a different player.
This is why scouts are also important. They provide context around the data.

Rempe's suspension was clarified to be two games, so one more. It's still listed generically under supplemental discipline, so there's no telling what caused it, really. Unless someone reports on it we'll never know.

Yes, and scouting is about more than just what happens on the ice. This is why scouts, when attending games, also interact with coaches, teammates and go a lot further than just looking at what the players do when they are playing.
