You wouldn't want EDM's first in '18 and '19?

Actually, no for two reasons.

1). I don’t trust Sather being involved in a deal with his own team. On two occasions he dealt with the Lilers, he turned down better deals to give players to the Oilers.

2). This is Chiarelli we’re dealing with, the jackass who gave up a #1 for Griffin Reinhart, and hanged the Devils Taylor Hall. Two 1sts from Chiarelli is an underpayment for Kreider.

Season in Review: Ty Ronning

"Getting back to that feel of how high-paced the game is here in pro hockey," Ronning said after a recent practice with his Hartford teammates. "You've got like one second to make a play and I love that. I love the competition. I'm ready for the challenge and I felt it was very - I feel comfortable where I am right now [in Hartford] and I just have to keep going and keep working and good things will happen."

Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton has often used the word "character" as a trait he and his staff will focus on in reshaping the roster in New York. Possibly no one personifies that more than Ronning.
"He's everything that you want in a teammate, in an athlete," Ortmeyer said. "He comes to work every day. It's obvious, but he's good in the room. He's upbeat and he provides energy. He pushes other guys, he forces other guys to work because if they don't, [Ronning's] going to pass them by.

It occurs to me that Hartford is going to be very much worth watching next season. I havent followed the team game to game since Zuccarello was developing down there, but next season you could have

1 of Andersson/Chytil
Howden
Hajek
Lindgren
Ronning
Lindqvist
Day

All playing each game down there.

Yup, going to be refreshing. I was thinking this last night watching the Caps and Pens. Did the Pens call up like half of their AHL team over the past two years? I hadn't heard so many of those names before.

Be careful true believer. I spoke about themes in the other thread. Every year for the past five years is the "Hartford is going to be awesome" and every year we're disappointed. Hopefully this is the year to break that mold but until rosters are finalized, I'll believe it when I see it.

Finally. Is this more promising than when we signed Stromwall? I mean, even if he becomes a good AHLer, it's a win. Brandon Pirri 2.0?

It's worth pointing out that Ty Ronning played against kids this season, but it's also worth pointing out that the kids are bigger than him.
While this is a true statement, it's also worth noting that there are a lot of small guys playing in the CHL. He's not playing against guys with average NHL size, he's playing against guys with average CHL size, which is considerably smaller. His size isn't nearly the disadvantage in the CHL that it will be as a pro.

Wanted to post this here since it gets debated quite a bit.

So, as of now, it is KHL > SHL > AHL > Swiss > Finnish for the pros

NCHC is toughest NCAA conference. It's OHL > WHL > QMJHL for the CHL.

Can someone help me out with that conversion table between leagues? How do I do it? Is it points or PPG? If I wanted to convert, say, Morgan Barron's points to NHL points, how would I go about doing that?

There's a selection bias here, as plenty of players from Europe who would be bottom 6 in the NHL choose to stay at home and play bigger roles in Europe. There's a reason why you have relatively few long-term Russians in the NHL playing 4th line roles.

Yeah, I was just kidding when I said he’d 100% replicate Point

I will say, again, that I think Howden is underrated on the whole. He might not be the 30-30 guy that Point is right now, but I see no reason why he can’t be a 20-35 guy who is a beast defensively.

I believe in the possibility of a higher offensive ceiling for him. I love the hockey IQ and think the attributes are underrated.

I feel like he’s on a lot more Rangsrs’ fans radar these days, but still a bit undervalued.
