Here is the Othmann fight from earlier in the month, he definitely made a comeback toward the end with a few bombs, but definitely lost the fight and almost had his head smashed against the ice. I'm in the boat that i'd rather not see him get into fights. He's had 3 this season.

Maybe I'm negative but that makes me feel worse about Othmann rather than better about Cuylle.

Cuylle is a year older, has better players around him etc

Highest scorers not named Othmann in Flint:

Riley Piercey: 27G, 31A, 58P
Amadeus Lombardi: 17G, 38A, 55P
Gavin Hayes: 18G, 26A, 44P

Highest scorers not named Cuylle in Windsor:

Wyatt Johnston: 42G, 73A, 115P
Matthew Maggio: 37G, 40A, 77P
Louka Henault: 8G, 49A, 57P*

Othmann leads his team in points by 28.

Cuylle is ranked 3rd, 41(!) points behind their leader.

Henault is a defenseman, by the way.

Nemeth has been playing much better hockey. There is no chance Gallant is taking him out for a 5 foot 10 defenseman,

Wouldn't matter if he were 6'5", Jones wasn't drawing in for a vet for an all rookie pairing.

I'm just saying that he should be playing. We move the puck MUCH better when hes in there and Nemeth is a minus when it comes to that.

With Cuylle's 40th goal, it puts him in a tie for 5th in goals. All the guys above him however have played more games (some as many as 8). He is 3rd in the league in goals per game.

Othmann is tied in 2nd in the league with his 42 goals. Unfortunately he is never catching the #1 guy who went on a tear and already has 52 goals.

The Hockey News Future Watch issue is out. Teams are ranked based on their prospects and players 21 and under. For the Rangers that includes Lafreniere, Lundqvist, Kakko and Schneider.

The HN ranked the Rangers 6th. Three prospects were in the top 100: Othmann at 24, Kravtsov at 48 and Jones at 62.

Of more interest is that Steve Zippy ranked the top ten prospects. His ranking was:

1. Othmann
2. Kravtsov
3. Jones
4. Robertson
5. Barron
6. Berard
7. Cuylle
8. Garand
9. Vierling
10. Korczak

I am surprised about Vierling and would have ranked Pajuniemi ahead of him. Even before the trade I would have said Barron was too high although in the top 10. Trivigno would make a revised top 10 list. Not sure I would have Scanlon in top 10 but he would be close.

Where is Lundkvist on that list?

I think Berard goes pro.

I wouldn’t mind giving him another season to throw on some weight+dominate college hockey but these kids are jumping ship the second they get a chance these days.

Let him play one more year and with his brother.

It's better next year to find out what Cullye/Othmann and maybe Edstrom have and then the next year Berrard and maybe a Korczak or Grubbe can turn pro. That's a consistent influx of talent.
