I wish we had them ready right now because we need an influx of playoff type hockey performers that have some wheels and snarl .....we could use 5 for our current roster . Rangers a not bad regular season club but certainly not a playoff style club at this stage .
FWIW Edström is known as a guy who elevates his game in the playoffs.

29 points in 147 regular season SHL games and 10 in 24 playoff games.

Yeah some quintessential NA style players didn't have great success in the SHL.

Johan Franzen is one obvious one that comes to mind.

You hope Edstrom becomes a 4th liner.

I love it. I've always loved Edström. I think his game is better-suited to North America than Europe. He's obviously not going to be a big points guy but he plays a really physical brand of hockey (too physical for the SHL, honestly), has good hands around the net, can PK, etc. If nothing else, he'll be a good depth player for Hartford for a couple years, if he can't crack the Rangers.

I think Edström and Rempe have that in common. Their styles, their bodies, the way they use their bodies, are just tailor-made for pro hockey in NA.

I really think the team wants Othmann in the NHL next year. That shot plays. Can he be an Oshie type player for us?

Edström is not a typical swedish player. He is gigantic and very physical. With decent skills. Think of a bigger more physical Fredrik Sjöström.

However, NHLers are bigger and stronger than SHLers, its a different thing playing physical in SHL than doing in NHL. But i think Edström have the natural strenght to do it. He is very strong.

I'm always an advocate of getting them big minutes in Hartford for half a season to get them acclimated and give them the call up when injuries inevitably create an opening. Although I hope Hartford gets their shit figured out. They totally folded when Brodzinski & Schneider got called up.

Not too physical for SHL; he only had 6 pim (!). The refs accept his physical style. Rögle overall is quite physical.

I think he clearly dialed it down this season after his previous suspensions for blowing guys up. I'd wager you put him in the AHL, they will emphasize his physicality, and he'll be a PIM-per-game player. No insult on the SHL, international hockey just officiates things differently; all of Ryan Lindgren's borderline hits would have him suspended in most of Europe, IMO. And that's fine as they take head hits incredibly seriously. I just expect Edström's physical play to really open up when he comes over.
