Hey guys...

Now that we are more than halfway through the season, and Lafreniere, Shesty, and Miller have graduated, are we due for a new set of prospect rankings?

I think Jones is more like Skjei. Offensively he moves the puck really well but defensively he doesn't resemble Fox. I think Lundkvist is more like Fox, even a bit more physical.
Wat.

If any of our prospects resembles Fox, it's Jones (albeit from the left side). Not to say he'll be as good, of course, but stylistically, physically, and in terms of their relative strengths/weaknesses it's a good (and IMO, obvious) comp. Meanwhile, Jones is nothing like Skjei.

As for Lundkvist, I don't have a natural comp that springs to mind, certainly not on the Rangers. Going back in time, maybe Zubov? Staying with the current era and moving away from the Rangers, maybe a RH Torey Krug?

Early on, my stylistic comparison for Lundkvist was always Tomáš Kaberle.

I think Jones is an exciting prospect (one of my personal favourites) but I don't see the similarities between Jones and Fox aside from both being on the smaller side. Stylistically, Jones moves the puck more like Skjei IMO

Skjei is big, strong, and skates like a deer, but is limited because he's not very heady and not a particularly good passer.

Jones is not big, not particularly speedy, but has a high hockey IQ, and is an excellent passer.

Again, no guarantee those traits will translate as well to the pros as they did for Fox, and he's not the defensive player Fox is (yet), but it's a good comp.

IMO, of course. :)

Yeah, Skjei was big, strong, a great skater, and kind of an idiot. Jones isn't close in stature or skating yet has a great IQ and really makes some brilliant plays. Skjei was a guy who got by on natural ability whereas Jones gets by on being a smart player.

Jones thinks the game at a high level. I don't think at Fox's level, but a high level. And he can't skate like Fox. But he slings the puck around pretty damn good.

When do people see Pajuniemi playing his first NA-season(ahl most likely)? Next season?

I don't think this is entirely correct as an observation. The games I've seen Jones play, he's got an intelligence to his game and vision that Sjkei has never possessed. Sjkei has always been a guy with some great tools -- size, speed, reach. But his outlet passes, his decision making meant he needed to develop more of a stay at home style. But he couldn't wrap his brain around that while with NYR.

Jones is a much headier player. A player who sees the game well. I don't think he is as good as Fox and he might never be more than a bottom pairing PP specialist. Or an AHL all-star. But his game is far different than Sjkei's ever was.

A better comparable to Brady Sjkei is K'Andre Miller. Miller has even more tools than Sjkei but the jury is still out on whether he can clean up his game enough to become a stalwart. Their development trajectory is much much similar.

The Rangers have a lot of options going forward on defensemen. Fox, Miller and Lindgren are so young but already good players. Fox actually is great. Really I think Lundkvist is our best prospect but still there’s Hajek who’s much better this year from last—Schneider, Robertson, Jones, Reunanen and Skinner. All these guys have a legit chance of becoming
NHL’ers. Some of them are slam dunks.

Fox’s head is always in the game. He’s almost always in the right place and almost always does the right thing. He’s not a physical player but his positioning of body and stick make him a very effective defender and in a way he reminds me of Nicklas Lidstrom. His hockey sense is outstanding.
