Denmark is 100% considered continental in Sweden and Copenhagen is often referred to as "down on the continent".

Yeah that is right. Didn’t think of that. But isn’t that kind of odd? Think it’s just because Copenhagen is seen as being more ‘continental’ than Swedish cities, and then people slip with their tongue.

I think it would be odd to exclude Denmark from continental Europe since the Danish peninsula is directly connected to (and a part of) the European continent. While that is technically the case for the Scandinavian peninsula as well, the land route is long enough to consider it non-continental.

I do agree that Denmark is more culturally connected to the Nordic countries than Northern Germany, but it is definitely closer with Northern Germany than the rest of the Nordics.

Reckon that can take awhile - for legit game shape. Thinking Feb-ish?

He’s got half a dozen games under his belt already so it might be even earlier (if we’re talking NHL level readiness. Recall he was in direct competition with Hajek and Lindgren coming into this season.

The use could vary, maybe like Icelandic people label Sweden as continental Europe, but in Sweden it’s the opposite. Continental Europe includes non of the Nordic countries.

Yup, it has multiple definitions. But since I was joking about the dominance of English speaking culture, I used the definition Brits and Irish usually give. Which is that continental Europe = Europe minus Britain and Ireland.

Anyway, let's talk about prospects again. :D

Basically every country that uses the metric system and drives on the right side of the road

I still feel we need some sort of Geography OT topic to discuss these things. It's so much fun!

Historically Denmark for long periods of time controlled Iceland. The Danes and the Norwegians were the fiercest of the Vikings and you might give the edge to the Danes.

Now if I do have my geography right and knowing that in Henning Mankell crime novels occasionally a villain or a suspect or a loved one hides out in Copenhagen it can be reached over a fairly narrow stretch of water from the most southern part of Sweden. Looking at maps (especially when they're provided) when reading a book often enhances the reading. A small world atlas is fairly cheap and very much worth having.

Ehh excuse me??

By far the most powerful and dominant Vikings were Swedes.

There were also a few odd Vikings in Norway and Denmark that the Swedes chased away. However, one of them fled to Iceland and wrote down his story and that is the only written story that survived so that is why you hear about Danish and Norwegian so called Vikings.

Are you sure they weren't typical soft Euros? :sarcasm:

I always shake my head when people talk about soft Russians or Swedes. Or really any group. But particularly those ones. Vikings and Siberian Lumberjacks are not what I’d call “soft” but hey, what do I know.

I thought the sarcasm emoji made it clear I was joking, but hey, what do I know? ;)

So for the WJC, we officially have Lundkvist, Henriksson, Miller, Jones, and Gross. Pretty good. Lundkvist, Miller, and Gross should all play huge roles on their teams with Miller maybe wearing the C.
It’ll prob be Matthias Samuelsson for whatever reason but I think K’Andre is a lock for an A

10,000 Swedes went through the weeds, chased by one Norwegian.

Happy Holidays Ola! :);););)

Danish Vikings >>> Swede Vikings. Norwegians are just weak people. Same as Dutch.
