All you want from Pajuniemi is that he keeps developing. Look at Olofsson. He has taken big steps every year since he was 18. He was 24 when he made it. Now a PPG. Pajuniemi is only 20. William Karlsson is another.

It’s of course not a given that a kid will keep taking big steps, but as long as they do that the sky is the limit.

I love Reunanen. Wouldn’t be shocked if he became our No 1 LD one day. Nor if he never made it. But his skating and agility is world class. His poise.

Is Reunanen's skating that good?

Yeah, he is a really good skater.

Blew me away for a kid coming from Europe going up against some established NA prospects.

Definitely looking forward to seeing the kid in blue.

Will he be in Hartford next season most likely ?

His page on CapFriendly doesn't mention an EAC, but we loaned him back to Lukko this year when he didn't make the NHL. I'm not sure if we would do the same next year if he doesn't make the team, or if we would keep him in Hartford to work on his game there. My guess would be the latter, especially if the Rangers feel he is close to making the team. There's a lot of competition for spots though, and it's only going to get tougher as more of our prospects sign/mature.

His EAC or whatever it was is weird, because it was basically based on a release from his team announcing he had signed with us, but then stating he'd be back with Lock if he didn't make the Rangers. Which was then odd when he was initially assigned to Hartford late in camp. No one else really reported the EAC's existence, though, so who knows?

Thanks guys. Always the best.

From what I saw in camp, he did damn well back there, just a bit raw and young. I really saw those flashes that you needed to see there though. He's a player. Hope he's on the pack at the least next year.

The competition within our system is really a sight. Great work being done by most of these prospects.

You have now officially been deputized. You must report back here after every game.

I don’t make the rules, I just report on them. :dunno:
I guess I must oblige since it's a rule and all...

I think Pajuniemi was a bit underwhelming today apart from his goal. One time he first failed to contain his guy physically and then lost the consequent foot race. The stronger and faster guy scored the first goal of the game as a result.

On the positive side of things, his good puck protection lead to two drawn penalties and obviously he's very dangerous on the PP.

What do you think of the skating of Keane, Robertson and Zac Jones?
Haven't seen enough of Keane to comment. Robertson appears to be a guy in the McDonagh/Skjei mold (let's hope more the former and less the latter), and Jones I think has some real dynamism to his wheels a la DeAngelo, but on the right sight (though the odd thing is, I seem to recall people questioning that aspect of his game in all the reports around the draft).

Many thanks! I know I speak for a bunch of us on the board when I say I appreciate the first-hand insight.

Paj has another year left in his contract, any chance we see him get out of it and come to NA next season? Or unlikely?
You know I said the other day, I maintained going into the year that I didn't think he was a particularly noteworthy prospect that would do well here. And yet, his numbers are undeniably impressive, particularly given his age. Still, as with guys like Lindqvist and Meskanen, he relies on finding space to get off that big one-timer (at least this year--that wasn't really a hallmark of his game previously). And it's much more difficult to find that time and space to get those shots off playing in the faster-paced game with lesser space that you have in North America. So, I'm still not sure if what he's doing will translate.

Directly to the question, my guess is that if the Rangers think what he's doing can translate, they sign him up and then loan him back next season unless he looks like he's ready to be a major AHL contributor and then potentially ready in 2021. If they're not sold they give him next year and reevaluate then.

Those that've been able to see the Pack how do you guys feel about Rykovs first hand full of AHL games

The only thing that could be held against Fast is changing his surname from Fasth to Fast. If anything, after all the Anglosaxon cultural dominance we continental Europeans suffered from, it should be the other way around :naughty:

And I mean, what would be a more fulfilling life than seeing the 27th volume of The Fasth and the Furious being released?
I didn’t realize Sweden was considered part of The Continent. I mean, technically it’s obviously so. But I thought Western Europe and Continental Europe were basically congruous and Northern Europe and Scandinavia were likewise. But my point is, I don’t know and I’m curious. If anyone’s willing to clue-in this guy. Sorry for being “O-T”.

I love his ability to open his hips and walk down the wall and along the line. I think he’s been really good. He’s got more skill than given credit for. Just needs to get in game shape.
Reckon that can take awhile - for legit game shape. Thinking Feb-ish?

The use could vary, maybe like Icelandic people label Sweden as continental Europe, but in Sweden it’s the opposite. Continental Europe includes non of the Nordic countries.
