Gettinger, if he took another half-step and improved his skating/quickness is a NHL player. His wingspan on the PK would be invaluable. He plays both wings but so does Lemieux. He also has played that 2-way, strong on the boards game going all the way back to juniors so he isn’t reinventing himself. I’d be totally fine playing him on the 4th line this year and giving him some time. I think his ceiling is probably a 10g-10a 4th liner but with his size that’s valuable.

I’ve been pretty quiet on this opinion but I’d probably prefer Barron start in the AHL at center to see if they can round out his game there and allow Gettinger to take that 4th line, low minute role.

I absolutely understand Gettinger can't show up to camp out of shape and smoking two packs of cigarettes a day with the hope of making the team, but if it's close like let's see he's about there or the coaches are 50/50 and he's done nothing wrong, just let him get his feet wet over jabronies.

Nice snipe by Reunanen yesterday and hey almost 30 minutes today? That's great. When he comes to camp he'll be seasoned and hopefully earn a spot.
I mean he's playing in Mestis which is like ECHL or lower. It's good he's staying in game shape, for sure, but he's way beyond the league he's currently in.

It's like the two lockouts where Gomez played in the ECHL with Alaska. He had 99 points in 72 games without breaking a sweat. Just something to do. Not that Reunanen is established like Gomez but he was pushing for an NHL spot last year and had excelled in Liiga the past two; the drop off in quality is the same.

He needs ice time now. Not ideal but as long as he plays and plays a lot.

He's playing in Mestis for a reason. He had several offers from Liiga teams, but those offers were only for the entire season, and Reunanen is planning on flying to NA once the season is announced. TUTO in Mestis gave him that option with a short-term loan deal, which the Rangers signed off on.

It is important to know why he plays in Mestis.

Just to reiterate, I don't care that he's in Mestis and I don't think it's bad in any way. It's just a lower-tier league so I wouldn't read anything into his production. That was my only point.

Yeah, I agree though 27 min is a lot of reps and at least shows that

1. TUTO entered the agreement in a good faith
2. Reunanen is there not only for practice

Getting fed a ton of icetime in Tuto is a positive, even if it is a lower level league. Reunanen will have time to adjust to the speed and skill of NHLers in camp. At the very least, he'll come to camp in game shape. Presumably with some confidence, as well.

He has been practicing with Kakko and Georgiev (Who is a Finnish resident) in Turku for the last few months. They still do regularly, the TUTO schedule allows for them to keep that going.

Just spit balling here, but guessing that he did not include any players on the big team.
but for NJD he included Jack Hughes, which I don't get.

and I think more people are annoyed at our rank last year being 19.

19th.

You could have randomly shot any three prospects from our pool and there was no way we were as low as 19th.
The Rangers-just-buy-free-agents narrative is real and strong. Some people can’t or won’t believe The Rangers can develop their own talent pool.
