Splitting up Strome and Panarin seems insane to me. Fantastic chemistry there for multiple years.

I’m rolling this:

Panarin - Strome - Kakko
Kreider - Zibanejad - Goodrow
Lafreniere - Chytil - Blais
Barron - Rooney - Reaves
Gauthier

Barron is a center. They had him play center in Hartford for a reason. He is good on faceoffs too which is a need here. I'd put Rooney on the wing.. Barron's size down the middle can help this team

I don't get the Hunt hate. Our fourth line is solid this year when everyone is healthy.
I'm a fan of Hunt. wish he had a little more skill. He is a 4th liner. Would like to see him get pk type. Maybe we have a less skilled Prust here. I'm just shocked this team has 0 fighting majors to start the season

What's up with the Avs? I heard they had injuries.

Mack was in covid protocol to start the season and Landeskog was suspended 2 games for a hit in the season opener. Both have been back for a couple games now.

another great game by igor.

laf is starting to grow into his game. that line with chytil and blais is good.

Agreed.

They were the 2nd line tonight. They clicked because they used their speed and kept going north. I think Chytil is a 2nd line center if he's playing with the right linemates. I don't think Chytil is ever going to be an east west kind of player. But if you give him linemates that can keep up with him, he can lug pucks, he can skate and he can open things up. But if he's on a line where hes going east west his #1 tool is being negated. His straight away speed.

That said, the chemistry between Blais and Laf is for real.

Panarin went more north/south today and you could see he was playing in more traffic, taking more hits along the walls. Not sure he likes that game. But Zibby and Kreids play that north/south speed-pressure game too.

I think Kakko is a better fit to play with Zib or Chytil than Panarin. But we'll see.

Most encouraging signs of the game: The Predators played a heavy, chippy game and we held up just fine and if anything got better as the game wore on. I thought our D corps did a very good job in our zone. All 3 pairs. Least scrambly game from Lundkvist all year. Looks to be figuring out his own end. And was physically engaged quite a bit.

Ottawa is going to come at us with their speedy youngins. Gonna take a different kind of effort. Definitely going to need to get pucks deep and wear them down.

I think Panarin is a little bit sad that him and Shesty are the only Russians left on the team now that Kravstov p***yed out of the AHL for a stint. I’d be in my feelings too if they traded away my boy to the west coast and my other comrade just gave up on the organization. Who knows what he’s going through honestly but he doesn’t look like himself yet.

Is it just me or has Lindy not looked at all like the Lindy we know to start the season

Trouba haters gonna need a new hobby soon, he's been great.

Fox is officially my new favorite Ranger. So many to choose from, but he's..... unreal.

That Fox to Blais to Laffy play should be on pornhub, it was so nasty and erection inducing.

Ditto for Kreider, Miller, Blais, and Hunt.

Feel free to carry on hating Georgiev though...

I think a lot of us are feeling the same way. Especially if that 2nd round pick becomes something useful.

Blais, Goodrow, Hunt and Reaves are everything this team was missing last year.

I thought Blais would be a better fit than Buch from the jump...but as it turns out Blais is just a better player. And that's not a knock on Buch

No idea but they’re struggling big time to start the season. Still early or course and I believe in them to turn it around but it’s comical seeing the Avs fanbase turn on Makar.

When you replace Ryan Graves with Jack Johnson? Maybe?

You are correct. He looks kinda ragged. Worn down. Either he's not in great shape due to offseason injury recovery time or he's already nicked up and no one's saying anything. But it seems clear that he's not his normal solid self at the moment.

Blais looks good. But We have only played a handfull of meaningful games This far. He has previously had consistency issues in his NHL career which have inhibited taking the next step. Hopefully that is behind him and he has a William Karlsson kind of trajectory with Gallant. Adding one more real piece, likely a center, a few extra experienced depth pieces up front and another veteran R defender plus a consistent backup will be the real challenge for this team if they want to make noise. VK was probably not an optimal answer in the bottom 6 ever. Maybe his real value has always only been in a trade after we won the 2 lotteries. We have a lot of other movable pieces. Let’s see what happens…

I recognize Panarin led the team in xGF% but he doesn’t look ANYTHING like the player we’ve watched the last two years. It is likely at least in part a team issue...but if this is the new normal for him it is a bit terrifying.

I think that it’s obvious from day 1 that he isn’t in top shape. He is gassed after shifts, grasping for air, but he also has a choppier stride and that is a classic sign of that your legs are a bit stiff. He still makes great plays and I am a big fan, but he mailed it in this off season no doubt. Also don’t think it has anything to do with laziness. Haven’t he also looked a bit down?

Lastly, the above is just my speculation. Take it for what it’s worth.

Early in the season, things doesn’t look perfect, we need things to not go south for us with injuries and what not — but screw it, I definitely think we have potential to go into the top 8/4/2 (of course to a falling degree).

I agree but I also think it’s important to remember that hockey players in general — are not very consistent YTY. And especially not at that age. There is just a large standard variance.
