The Rangers spent the first five minutes turning the puck over. They were lucky it was only 2-0 after the first period.

Fleury made close to 40 saves. Some are great saves, deflections, etc. if he let some of those in, it would not be his fault either. We need Hank to make some of those "night his fault" saved. We are not the Pens. We need the old hank to win. Otherwise, we need to swap some assets to get the pieces to win with an average goalie. Hank is average right now. You can't deny that.

I'd agree with this for sure. Though, to be honest, I though today was one of Hank's "better" bad games this season. The only goal that I thought he could have stolen was the Crosby one.

Did anyone notice how hard Crosby works?

There could possibly be a relationship between hard work and good results, eh?

This is a concept that seems to be lost on most of our skill players. Nash and Richards barely compete out there. Players should be working their butts off no matter how much talent they have (or think they have).

Sometimes big contracts equal no hunger. At least with the Rangers.

We have had four high-performing teams worth cheering for in the last 25 years. That's why the GDTs have been the way they've been.

2011-12
1996-97
1993-94
1991-92

Exactly. Anson Carter said it well. Crosby has the mentality of a fourth liner. He is honestly unbelievable. And no matter how much I hate his antics, he's still incredible. I've never heard of him having a bad game, or being "invisible".

I think refs give the "better player" the benefit of the doubt in some judgment calls, but I also think that assuming there's some kind of conspiracy in a sleepy midseason Metropolitan division matchup is off-base.

No, this is about the "balls" Crosby has. Crosby has those proverbial balls due to a luxury that he has.

McD and Zucc, only players worth a damn on this team right now. Kreider occasionally.

Exactly. And, to be honest, it's not even about the result. I can forgive losses -- especially against a team as talented and as hard-working as the Penguins -- but the apathy that our players are so frequently showing is simply incomprehensible and disappointing. Sometimes I wonder if our Rangers forget that they're playing professionally.

Zuccarello and McDonagh have a pulse and are playing well.

..thats all I got. Literally, everything else is a problem or a major problem.

I'm mad at everyone and everything!

A win in Toronto would cheer me up though. Please don't screw up tomorrow

And little hope of turning this around. Almost hoping they're deadline sellers and I hate that idea most of the time. I don't see this team, as it's composed, doing much of anything.

Glen your desire for an "entertaining" product has really got me hooked.

What a rivalry game. Beaten in every square inch of the ice.

I have a hard time accepting our best forwards for the last 20 games have been a rookie and a small playmaker making 1,15 mill. Where are the ~20 mil trio of Richards, Stepan and Nash hiding? Where is the team's captain?

The effort level is non-existent and it doesn't help that AV has completely ruined the defense by going to a man coverage system none of the players seem to get.

I'm not one to climb out on the ledge or scream for a rebuild, but something needs to happen with this team.

Agreed. With Nash and Richards you don't even get a hint of a pulse sometimes, the way they play. I'd love it if one of those guys got a little ornery(sp?) like Crosby did with McD. It shows you've got heart and desire to win to go with the talent given to you.

I read Barry Melrose's autobiography recently, and he says guys like these to sell out for the life of NYC. I think he's right. (The book was a gift and I never thought I'd read it, let alone find something with a hint of truth in it.)

Embarrassing physical effort. That is all. They show no heart and no ability to stick up for each other. I have to question if this team even likes each other.

This has been going on since he broke into the league. It is what it is, but it still angers me.

Nash would be considered the "better player" by your logic & I don't see him getting the help Crosby get's. The same can be said about Gaborik as well when he was here & most every player that has donned a Ranger Jersey. Even Gretzky & Messier were held accountable for their actions while in the Leauge, & both those guys got a good number of calls for & against.

So, anyone want to talk about how that opening road trip was a fluke?

I had to miss the game tonight to watch my son peewee game (12U). Uh yeah I saw the better game and THEY won.

So anyway...can we start a "dead" pool for Sather's retirement?

I'm going to open the bidding at 480 days. I know that wishful thinking, but hey, I'm WISHFUL.

Happy New year!

Liked this tweet: If Rick Nash really applies himself he might one day be as good as Mats Zuccarello
