credit the Rangers for hanging on. They're just totally gassed out there. LA seems to have an extra jump in their step. Can't tell if it looks that way because they're flying when compared to the Rangers or if they've gotten stronger as the series has gone on. Glad the Garden ice was friendly - smoother ice would've meant that puck crosses the line late in the third. Well, the monkey is off their back. Question now becomes do they have enough steam left. Even fourth liners look gassed, which means weak clearing attempts and defensive zone turnovers. Anything can happen. I just don't know from where the Rangers will get their skating legs for Friday night's game. Looking forward to Friday the 13th. Just hoping they can dig deep and find that fourth wind, as their second and third winds have been used up.

Girardi has to be playing injured. He just looks so bad it's mind boggling

He looks more tired than injured. Physically and mentally. Most of the team looks that way now. LA is in another gear, which compounds that. Now would have been the good time to have that extra day's rest off!

Pretty much this. He doesn't suck, but at this point, he's not worth his contract. We have far more vital players that need to be kept and we may not be able to do so without dumping Nash. I think it's far more important to get Staal AND Stralman, Zucc AND Brassard under contract, then keeping Nash (not to mention, D. Moore & Boyle).

Look at the kings. We are built very similarly. The only thing we're missing is a Kopitar.

4 Good lines. A better defense probably 1-6 and a great goalie (who is easily better then Quick as well).

If this team could save 4 mil and bring in a 20 goal scorer who is a hard worker, it would be a smart move. He won't be Nash and it will come with its lumps, but at this point, he's not worth his contract and we need some of that money to put towards the guys who really got us here.

No biggie then, huh? ;) Also, we don't have a center as good as Carter and McDonagh still hasn't reached Doughty's level. This Gaborik guy would also be nice. Point is, I think there's a big margin offensively. From the 4 offensive lines as well as from the defenders.

spot on

I'd really like to know who thinks Girardi's skating stride looks comfortable here.

I know that stride.. it's called oh ***** he's behind me stride.. all defensemen know that stride... but after watching G on other plays he does look rather gassed

YUp, let's not forget one thing about G. He was damn solid until this series. I think it's fatigue, really.

Lombardi does it right. He adds players that can make a difference at the deadline. This year it was Gabby, a guy playing on the top line and scoring like a top liner. Where would they be without Gabby? The Rangers didn't improve that way at the deadline. We got MSL but gave up Cally, so it was more of a lateral move.

And BTW Carter is a beast and doesn't get enough credit. He's much better than I remembered.

few observations from last night.

we are getting nothing from richards and nash. we are down 3-1 pretty much due to those 2 key vet scorers doing nothing in the way of scoring. msl has done his part along with the brass poo zuke line.

we cannot shoot nor can we finish. we seem to always flub the shot or deliver a shot at half speed or a weak back hander. shooting hard is as important as shooting accurately.

ryan mcdonagh could be a forward in this league. hes that good of a hockey player.

zuke has been our best player through out the entire playoff run. he just does everything well and all little things that go unnoticed. hes a very smart/skilled player.

john moore has a very good shot. he delivers it hard, low and thats the kind of shot that creates goals from deflections, tip and rebounds. he must play the pp point with mcd. those 2 together i think are a terrific tandem. no more girardi or richards on the pp please.

chris kreider is still fighting his game. he made some really dumb plays last night. his intuitiveness needs to develop more. he doesnt feel the game as he should. when he starts too, look out.

our power play is bad. i blame av here. wrong players. the pp should be

msl step nash/zuke brash poo
mcd moore.

both nash and poo should never move from the front of the net.

I think fetching MSL was a "we want a shot at the cup now" move.

Cally would have NEVER, on his most A game, sniped some of the goals MSL has that put us in this position. Not a chance we'd be here without MSL.

Agreed, especially about Carter. He's a threat every time he's on the ice, whether it be using his speed or parking his body in front of the net. He's been one of their best forwards in this series.

the only thing we can hope for is that the Kings are thrown into a funk after a loss like this. they brought it HARD last night and didn't get the bounces (for once this series, it was about time we got some puck luck)... No doubt we can try this again, but I feel that we have a better shot at the next game simply due to the confidence gained out of this game.

Minor adjustments need to be made though:

Girardi needs to be moved down with Staal, and then the "new" 2nd pairing should be put on with Poo-Brass-Zucc line (allows offense to develop without requiring too much from the defense)
Richards needs to STAY on the 4th line... he also needs to get at most 60 seconds power play time per power play... I'm sick of watching him on the entire two minutes. It renders McDonough useless on the point.

MSL for Cally was a lateral move? :help:
