Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Jets 3/14/13 - Tort-O-Rella

Miller is plenty ready to contribute. He easily is one of our best players at controlling the puck and skating through the traffic. He can enter the zone better than most guys we have and make a play. He absolutely does make some real boneheaded plays that lead to turnovers but we happen to have one of the top goalies in the league. We should be focusing on going all out for offense and letting Lundqvist bail us out as necessary rather than trying to help him out and stifling the offense when he doesn't need the help anyway. You would think we have some awful goalie playing the one we play - trying to play so defensively and preventing shots from getting through.

I don't think he's ready. He isn't doing anything offensively, is prone to a million turnovers. He does nothing positive out there and is hurting the team. Call up Hrivik.

good choice

The guy scoring in your avatar.

good choice

now a cam neely in his prime along with a prime jagr and leetch would make this a complete team

PIPE DREAMS THOUGH...PIPE DREAMS

Gaborik + Prospect/Picks + a bag of pucks

It's a dream. It's not gonna help us now, but I feel we could have done better in the offseason

It didn't make sense at the time of the offseason. We bought in Nash to add to our goal scoring to provide another dimension to the lineup with two hopeful 40g guys on different lines.

Leetch used to block shots all the time, he was considered one of the best shot blockers in the league in his day.

My bad. Who knew consistency would be such a difficult concept for our "deadly" sniper. And you're seriously equating hitting a baseball to getting a SOG?

Just picking out 10 of the top goal scorers in the league that came to mind.

Player Standard Deviation - Shots/Game
Sidney Crosby 1.37
Daniel Sedin 1.46
John Tavares 1.74
Eric Staal 1.8
Marian Gaborik 1.86
Alex Ovechkin 1.88
James Neal 1.9
Steven Stamkos 1.98
Thomas Vanek 2.18
Rick Nash 2.78
AVERAGE 1.895

So next time maybe you should check the data before arguing that Gaborik is more inconsistent in terms on shots/goal per game because you are clearly incorrect.

The guy doesnt understand.

Just move on.

Been reading all the comments on Gaborik. My opinion is that there is no point in trading a guy in a horrid slump, who may or may not have "lost it". No way we can get anywhere near fair value for him. I would not be opposed to trading him in the off-season if we can get a first for him. Remeber, we'd then have his cap hit of 7.5 mil to get another free agent. At this point he is adding nothing to the team. Soft, no jump, his speed and shot are completely missing, looks like he couldn't care less and/or he's trying to get Torts fired so he doesn't have to grind up and down on the wrong wing.

On Miller, I like his potential a lot, and since I think this is a lost season, I'd rather have him learn here and put up with mistakes. He does a lot of things real well (granted a lot of bad turnovers), and he'll start scoring once he gets used to the speed of the game and does things faster. He's had a lot of chances, but he's just a little too slow to pull the trigger. That will come, especially if Torts would stop benching him every time he makes a teeny weeny mistake. Bench Pyatt. He's been in the league for years and has what, two points in his last 20 games. Keep Miller, our bottom six couldn't otherwise score on an empty net.

And could somebody take a shot and hit the g*dd**n net.

Outsmarted..

Outcoached...

Outmuscled..

AGAIN.....

Now we take on the Queen & the Queen on saturday..

It could Get ugly..

Here's my unbiased objective analysis:

-Gaby has absolutely sucked so far this season. call it a rough start or he just plain sucks call it what you want but he's afraid to take a hit and doesn't move for 3/4 of his shift.
-Hank has played well but not like King Henrik. I sense he's frustrated due to the lack of defense and the pathetic excuse this team has for an offense
-Nash needs to go old school and just not pass the puck.
-Richards is a total mental case so far this season but at least it looks like he's trying out there
-Stepan and Hags have been the Rangers 2 best forwards this season, no complaints there. The next best 2 have been Nash and Cally who've been a bit streaky
-Offensively we are a wreck. As we all know our offense comes from board play and its really hard to watch.

Overall, we have underachieved thru the first half of the season. We are a boring, defensive team that is maddening to watch. Torts needs to flex his style or he WILL be gone.

Let me get this straight..Nash and Steps werre rolling. Richards comes back and Torts splits them up and now the Ragners have trouble scoring..and he won't play them together? I don't get it. Sometimes the simplest things are the right answre. What a goof.
