Strome didn’t bury that chance next to the post and I knew he’d find his way to being the whipping boy tonight. Almost as embarrassing as the result tonight. That line was solid. Does the bottom six provide anything? Fourth line is what it is but with these injuries now, they have a third line problem. Barron>McKegg as a C with Rooney and Reaves I like. That third line is a mess right now. Fox needs to play tomorrow or I’m going to puke.
It wasn't about that chance for me. It was about how poorly he played all night. Stupid passes getting tipped away, lazy on the backcheck and absolute weak link on the PP. Bread was on fire tonight and received no help from his center, none

I didn't say he was great you said he was the reason we lost AND that he should have put in 4 goals. Let me know when another guy who plays on the wing with Panarin scores 4 goals. Hunt? Kakko? Gauthier? and honestly I don't care if the goal went off his pinky toe or his ass and in the net. I would kill for Kakko goal like that.
I am totally with him playing on the third line once we have our full lineup again. But then again garbage Hunt may take that RW spot. Then we will all be happy
I know who lost us this game. We all do.
No one player lost us the game, but if Goodrow had second line skill, we win. And he should have had 4.

Chytil and Gauthier not being on the 3rd line is why Laf looked better all game and subsequently why he was moved up.
I'm not sure how you are connecting those dots. The third line had one decent shift. Goat was invisible so Laf got a shot. I'm not against Barron getting more third line time but I hope he can do it with Goodrow on the line as well. Chytil was set up for failure this season and I don't want to see the same happen to another young center.

Regarding Georgie - Was it all his fault? No. Was he a part of the problem? Absolutely. I'm still shocked we didn't move him in the off season. What's sad is that as others have mentioned, he won't be moved because of the lack of faith in Kinkaid and over-all garbage value now. You'd have to be one DESPERATE team to want him as your #1.

Schneider is just SO solid. Obviously Panarin was good, but I wonder who else Gallant was a stand out from tonight's stinker.

No. The real game is being 28-12-4 even though it's not pretty sometimes. I would much rather have an ugly win and 2 points than outshooting and outplaying an opponent and losing with a sieve in net.
Saying you'd rather play worse is kinda weird but ok

Hajek played really well in this one. Not sure what happened to create this post as Miller and Lindgren had good games too

Lindgren got worked on that breakaway that led to the game tying PP goal. Miller caught in no mans land on the 3rd goal. These are boneheaded mistakes you cannot be making as a regular NHL player.

edit: Ok it was Goodrow penalty on the tying goal, but still Lindgren has been looking overmatched lately on the top pair.

This team is desperate for NHL caliber forward help. A top 6 forward is an absolute must obviously, but they also really need a middle 6 tweener as well. Its so clear they need more capable bodies higher in the lineup so they can slot these guys down into the roles they are more suited for (Goodrow/Gauthier) or out of the lineup completely (Hunt/McKegg)

Its okay to want to watch a team that has the puck a lot, and not have your goalie have to bail you out most nights. I feel like we watched that script for ten years.

Have a great goalie and have more games like the third period vs the Kings and Jackets, and it will not only lead to wins, but be entertaining and fun to watch.

Were you posting like this when Shesty was out and Geo was winning games for us?

No. From Kinkaid's small body of work, I see a mentally strong goaltender with NHL experience and all the other intangibles a back up needs to have. I have always had more faith in Kinkaid than in Georgiev. This guy deflates his team and loses games singlehandedly.

I have a feel positive vibe about Fox being out. Nemeth is still non-roster. Nils will get a shot or Jones will get a shot. Either way, I think it's a great opportunity to see what we have with Fox out.

Totally agree. Im not saying having the puck is not important but I would rather win ugly than lose and outshoot an opponent. Wins are the only number that matters.

I get it but every single game doesnt need to be a referendum on the importance of analytics and whether or not this team is a "true contender". The team is very young and clearly needs to make some additions, but cant we just enjoy this return to prominence for what it is? its tiresome
Who's making it a referendum on analytics?

I thought they played well, but they usually don't. Never mentioned analytics. I don't even consider shots and chances (which I also didn't really mention) to be analytics. Analytics are like, WAR and GAR.

I would hope, analytics or not, that on a hockey message board, we could have a deeper discussion of how the team is playing than "dey won da game dey lost da game" but anything besides that is painted as negativity or sidetracking.

The only number that matters is 16.

I think how you play is more indicative of future playoff success than how many games you won.

Tampa was a first-round away team last year. Meanwhile, they got swept the year they won 62 games.

Were their some brutal turnovers by the D? Yes. But an NHL goalie cant give up up 4 goals on 18 shots in a game where their own team has 39 shots. Georgeiv's problem is exactly what Vally said at the 1st intermission. Terrible body language on an unlucky goal and then he's swimming in the blue paint the rest of the game. Part of being a good goalie is making a save or 2 when your team needs you to pick them up, and too many games slip away because he cant do that consistently.

I won't be here tomorrow posting with you folks because my gf wants to watch the ceremony with me (Huge, HUGE Lundqvist fan...me, of course!), but she comes home late, so I have to record everything so we can watch it from the beginning. I'm setting up my DVR when I notice something.

...And what a slap to the face for the man that not only carried this team for over a f***ing decade, but to a man that also gave that f***ing dump on 7th and 8th some prestige and respect, because Lord knows those scrubs in orange and blue were a laughing for far longer than any other NY sports team.

"Oh, but the ceremony is on MSG. It's the game that's on MSG+!"

f*** that!

Play the whole thing on MSG proper and have the 11th seed (And it's about to be 15th soon) jackasses play on MSG en Español.

Since the start of last season, Montreal has like the 23rd best record in the league and they went to a SCF in between. Regular season wins basically don't matter at all.

All they do is qualify you for the playoffs. Half the teams do that and we've already put ourselves in a great position to do so.

Ok I hope next time Kakko or Hunt is on that line they put up 4. Like I said Goodrow will put up more points than all of our current RW's combined. With zero pp time.

is Fox ok? is Fox ok? is Fox ok? any update on Fox? is he alright?
