It might sting for a little at first, but this team will be way better off in the long run with Geo and Strome gone imo....
I wonder when they think Schneider can possibly take over for trouba full time.... if he keeps playing solid, it may not take the full 2 years to wait for his NMC to change before trying to trade him...
Although it would almost certainly affect his return value, but trouba has probably had his best overall year as a ranger this season.
Even at 8 mill per, I think there would still be 4-5 teams interested in adding him.
Top 4 physical D that can move the puck are always in demand

“We need the occasional save. Four goals on 16 shots ... I’m a little tired of the 25% rule.” - John Tortorella Exasperated by a second straight bad game by Lightning goalie John Grahame.
People shit on him all the time, but oftentimes he was right. It wasn't that long ago that he said that McJesus had to change his playing style to be successful and everybody crucified him, then two weeks later the oilers go completely into the tank and can't win a game and suddenly all the Canadian talking heads are bringing up the fact that McDavid and LD needed to adjust the way they were playing to help the team win. It's just so funny to me how quickly people like to crap all over torts because he made himself an easy target at times

Saying you'd rather play worse is kinda weird but ok

I get why you're frustrated with the team but to me the weird take is preferring to lose while playing well than win while playing poorly. Maybe one game here or there but you'd literally prefer 12-28-4 with good analytics than 28-12-4 with bad analytics. And you think preferring a win is the weird take?

I don't if it's to that extent but I literally said the other day that I'd rather be .500 and do things well, particularly see our young guys do well, than have our current record solely because our goalie has a .940 save percentage.

Imagine being a poster here and still trying to defend Geo. Yikes.
He didn't have a good game at all, but the bashing of him in here is getting a bit ridiculous. 1st goal would be really tough to save for any goalie as Nyquist plowed the puck into the net with his skates. Even if he would've reached it, it probably goes in anyway as nobody can stop a plowing player when you're stretched. 2nd was a deflection in front. Not much to say about those. Meanhile Goodrow missed an open net with no goalie in it. An easy gift wrapped goal given by Fox and he blew it. One of those nights.

3rd goal was really ugly, he faced the shot sideways and covered basically nothing of the net. 4th goal I actually blame Fox more for immediately passing Strome in the slot while the CLB players still applied alot of pressure there. He had the exact same giveaway just seconds earlier, Fox can't force a play like that, twice.

One of those nights.

Were their some brutal turnovers by the D? Yes. But an NHL goalie cant give up up 4 goals on 18 shots in a game where their own team has 39 shots. Georgeiv's problem is exactly what Vally said at the 1st intermission. Terrible body language on an unlucky goal and then he's swimming in the blue paint the rest of the game. Part of being a good goalie is making a save or 2 when your team needs you to pick them up, and too many games slip away because he cant do that consistently.

That is why he gets so much hate. He seems mentally fragile and it really shows in his body language. Unfortunate, too because if he was a bit more even keeled he could be a decent goaltender.

Since the start of last season, Montreal has like the 23rd best record in the league and they went to a SCF in between. Regular season wins basically don't matter at all.

All they do is qualify you for the playoffs. Half the teams do that and we've already put ourselves in a great position to do so.

We all know that the Canadiens in the finals was a sham…

Why can't Georgiyev play back-up, I wonder. When he was the main goalie during Shesterkin's injure he was solid enough. When he gets back to a back-up role he looks like the worst tender in the league.

The last part of a goaltender’s development is consistency. I’d say.

You know who also had a terrible game? Chris Kreider, but he's been so good this year, it was bound to happen.
. I wouldn’t say a terrible game. He nearly had a goal but korpisalo made a great save. Columbus also made a big effort to target CK especially on the PP

The young guys comment makes sense but preferring the team having a shitty record is a weird take.
