Confirmed with Link: Rangers Hire Peter Laviolette as Head Coach, Assistants Michael Peca & Dan Muse

Lav has never given kids a chance with a top role, or at least rarely, so i wouldnt hold your breath with laf and KK getting top line minutes.
You are a good poster but with all due respect I do not think this narrative pushed by a few posters is accurate. Eric Staal played huge minutes. He was younger than both Chytil and Kakko. Mike Richards and Jeff Carter were first line players for him at age 24. Claude Giroux was also a first line guy around 22 or 23 years old. Forsberg played 2nd line at around 20. Ryan Johnason was around 23.

This is up to Drury. He has to say that Kreider, Panarin, Laf and KK are your top-6 wingers, make it work.
GMBM tried that. He played NAK and Craig Smith at top line wing for multiple games instead of kids like Protas (who did well) or giving Michael a shot.

I actually don't think he'll do awful with you all, having Fox and Igor is going to make things much easier on him, but his offensive scheme is just awful and Lavi has a dog house that must be filled. I could see a world where he'd crap all over KK and then just gushes over Laf, even if Laf doesn't "take a step".

I was just always reminded of this post from his Nashville days his entire tenure in Washington.

Sounds like its copy and pasted from ChatGPT. Prompt: "Write 50 words that you are happy Peter is the new head coach of the rangers". But I think ChatGPT writes at a higher level then this lol.
my friend asked the jailbroken chat GPT who has the most critical fans in the league, and guess what team it said.

Laviolette introduces the NO SYSTEM, sitting back at the goal line and forcing opponents to break out of theirs to get the puck, at which juncture the Rangers take advantage of the other team's lack of structure, allowing Artemi Panarin to play his brand of improvisational pond hockey.

Truthfully, I got that from other posters from the Capitals who said it. So I don't know if it was true or not. Maybe they just didnt have good young players which is possible.

There goes my theory. Eh whatever, might as well give him a shot but I'm totally indifferent.
I see it as a win-win.

Supposedly he brings structure according to people in the know. If coaching was a major issue, this should make us better.

If it doesn't work, I can't see the roster and front office surviving a third coach hire without major changes, which we'll obviously need if that's the case.

Always respected the way Laviolette’s teams played over the years, heavy teams that can defend and don’t take shit. Everyone saying we are a “finesse” team and can’t play that way, I’m not sure what team you’ve been watching the last few years. Saying Lavi is the same as Gallant is disingenuous as well, their resumes aren’t comparable and Gallant never makes it through Year 3 anywhere.

It’s now on the players to make it work, specifically the vets. Kreider and/or Trouba will be moved if they fizzle out again. Outside of 3 guys we actually have a very young team, which people lose sight of.

The roster will mostly change around the margins imo. Othmann and Cuylle have a very good shot to break camp under Lavi, Robertson as well. I think they make a run at guys like Hathaway and Sheary on the cheap too. The outside the box move I could see is Lafreniere to Vancouver. Seems to be some smoke there.

Hes one of the best coaches in the NHL, but all coaches are hated because they do not play the kids more than they deserve and all problems are the coach's fault. Everyone would have career seasons if the HC won't interfere. The right coach can get Brendl to reach his expectations.

Agree with this. We don't do anything fast or skilled. Tell me when the finesse starts.

I see the criticism because we're also not a heavy team. Offensively, we're not anything. We're an inept team 5v5.

We need to shit and get off the pot and pick one style. The roster is definitely geared more towards heavy.

Hopefully Laviolette can at least get us playing some kind of way.

huge mistake as HC

should be Knob
if Lav were support for Knob, I could get behind that

but this suggests more win now favor the vets foolishness

That is the danger of the internet. I keep telling my mom just because she reads something on Google doesn;t make it true. I respect that you mentioned it. Yes as you mentioned the Caps did not have much to choose from except maybe a defensemen. I appreciate your clarification.

I don't think it's about "favor the vets" or not. The kids played a ton of minutes 5v5 last year and they shouldn't be on the powerplay right now, sorry.

We need to get more out of the kids. We need to get more out of the vets. We don't get enough quality play out of the roster we have. That's the issue and it doesn't really break along age lines imo.

Maybe it's the roster. This is the the third coach this roster and front office will have and I think it will be telling.

I think the young players all have the willingness to play a heavy game but they need a structure to rely on, which Laviolette has done historically. Kreider & Mika can do it too , look at how they dominated the Pens & Canes below the goal line in last years playoffs. Panarin has also had his most success under more demanding head coach’s so maybe there’s some hope there too. I’m cautiously optimistic.
