Confirmed with Link: Rangers Hire Peter Laviolette as Head Coach, Assistants Michael Peca & Dan Muse

I really hope some of you give the guy a chance. How will that hurt you? He is now our coach. The better he does the better we do. He has my support.

Fire and arrest Drury. I’m gonna leave a shitty Yelp review on his pizzeria now.

Welp there we go. Not an exciting choice like an assistant coach would be (Leach, War, Knob, etc.) but he is a respected coach around the league. His teams, despite what happened in Wash, have always had a strict system and style of play. He has always been a coach that demands accountability and plays players based on their willingness to buy into his tough defensive gameplan. I suspect his troubles in Wash were less to do with him and the young players and more to do with the fact that the old guard in Wash isn't exactly willing to change the way they play the game, as well as being much older and much slower than they used to be.

I can't ever recall a Lav team that played a way I didn't like until the Capitals team, which leads me to believe there was more to the issues there than whats on the surface.

With all that said, I would still like to have gone with maybe someone new, but technically, Lav is new for this room.

He is also not likely to ever let players dictate lineups. AKA, if he sees Kreider-Tro-Vesey works, he won't break it up cause Kreider or Z complain.

Another also, I think this bodes well for Cuylle and Othmann. They play the way Lav has always liked. Just run it back and see what happens with a real system.

Laf-Z-Kakko
Panarin-Chytil-Othmann
Kreider-Tro-Vesey
Cuylle-Brod-Goodrow

Eh, who the hell cares?

You could have just posted the last line and your post would mean the same lol

I honestly think nothing will change. The team is designed to have success off of individual performances instead of being a structured team. That’s why this team is so bipolar. When the best players have an off night it looks ugly. When the best players are going it’s an 8 goal game. I think the power play will still be the same, everyone will be out there for almost the whole thing. The second unit will get 20 seconds, Chytil will lose the face off, they finally get in the zone for everyone to force a one timer to Trouba, rinse repeat. A new coach and shaved head aren’t gonna make Panarin play less like a bitch. Lavi isn’t gonna make Mika or Kreider tougher players. It’s a personnel issue more than a coaching issue but whatever.

The problem is, the regular season means very little in hockey, and the defense isn’t close to good enough, no matter who the coach is.

Here’s to Igor pulling off a 940 from April to June.
This postseason really proves this. Even if we win the Prez Trophy, it will mean nothing. Thanks, Boston, for setting the precedent

This is a terrible hire. More of the same. Rides the vets, not able to help the kids grow, cant change anything in his old ass system that hasn’t worked in 4 years. What a job by druzy to continue to sign a coach whose issues are the same as gallant. At least this will mean in 2 years we will be firing both druzy and gallant 2.0.

I will still hope for the best for my rangers but let’s be real here, lavi hasn’t done anything good in many years and I don’t expect much from this team.

Lav has never given kids a chance with a top role, or at least rarely, so i wouldnt hold your breath with laf and KK getting top line minutes.
Well we are certainly going to find out thats for sure. Haha

I just had to work through my thoughts a bit.

it is both. Personal is blah bc we can’t get our kids up to speed and it’s the coaching of not having a modern approach to the game.

This is up to Drury. He has to say that Kreider, Panarin, Laf and KK are your top-6 wingers, make it work.

Not my first choice, but definitely better than gallant. Though i still didnt want him. I did want him 10-15 years ago though lol.

Is what it is. Curious on who assistants will be.

This will most likely end in complete failure and misery. But let's give it a go.

"Won't-let-it-ruin-my-weekend" Drury doing the bare minimum as always.

It is what it is at this point.

As a fan, nothing to do but hope that he can unlock Laf, Kakko and Chytil.

Just as Roy steps down from Quebec... Boo.

Roy would have been so much more exciting.

Oh well. Enjoy your probable 5 year contract bud (while getting fired after 2, of course).
Petition to start a "Rangers seeking head coach 2025" thread.

Don’t be surprised when I tag your guys (and anyone else being blatantly disrespectful) in about a year when Laviolette has the rangers reach the finals or make our best run we’ve had in a while.

We got one of the best coaches in the world right now that’s perfectly suited for this roster

This is EASILY the most canned write up I've ever seen. Why even bother?

View attachment 717489

I got a copy of the file with Track Changes on:

We are thrilled that John Peter will be the next Head Coach of the New York Rangers. With John's great Peter's extensive experience as a Head Coach in the National Hockey League with the Devils and Predators, as well as his shaved head the success his teams have had at a variety of several levels throughout his career, we are excited about what the future holds with him leading our team.
