Jágr is still playing so...
and that is supposed to stop him how? Jágr can leap the Atlantic ocean in a single bound. Do you think something like being a continent apart could hinder him? That's how good his conditioning is. Kreider and his pool jumping antics are just a cute "trick" compared to Jágr. He was so good, he had to cut his Samson locks just to give other players a chance against him.

Florida Return Special For Golden Knights' Video Coach

Or maybe this is where Boyce or Girardi come in?
interesting find. With our long time video guy fired, this seems like something that could really happen.

I don't think Quinn had a fair shot at this with covid limiting offseasons and training camps, shortened seasons with little time for practice, but i also do believe that coaches generally have a shelf life and his was expiring, his message imo wasn't being taken serious anymore.

Seems like regardless of Kreider's statement, Drury at least considers naming a captain a 'symbolic' step for the franchise.

What makes it goofier is we have literally no idea who it will be. It's been ages. Haven't had a C since the rebuild started. You'd think if it was going to a veteran they'd have done it by now.

The seems-stronger-than-just-speculation idea that several top 6 vets began balking hard at Quinn's style of play demands could be the strongest argument that he'd "lost the club" somewhat. The star draft picks didn't evolve on a pure straight line and put up tons of points as was wished/expected... but Kakko learned how to play a fuller game and Lafreniere was coming on strongly as the season wound down. Several key players, as noted, had career seasons, the defense tightened up a ton (OK, Martin gets the props there), and Buchnevich came into his own and was terrific all year long. We didn't miss the playoffs by a ton in the weirdest, most WTF-filled season anyone can remember.

More to the point, there are a lot of s**t braindead juvenile posters on this forum. Hopefully the new front office will somehow get us some extra grit up front, that will help the team be harder to play against, the kids will be one year better, and these same blowhards can give Gallant all the credit. Hopefully he'll deserve a fair portion of it.

quinn said the same thing almost word for word when guys like chytil and anderson were sent to the AHL...a press conference full of cliches means nothing

Yea except Gallant has a track record (see. Barkov, Huberdeau, Etc)

...and Eklblad who at 18 (not turning 19 til midseason) was an All-Star and Calder-winning rookie
yes, obvi, as 1OA, with pedigree and expectations, but gotta perform and grow on-ice, gotta get the opportunity, and staff contributes lots there

Gallant, as long-time productive NHL power forward, may have a particular synergy w Kakk, Laf, Krav and Barron ...

Turk knows the effort and grit that is needed to succeed but what makes him stand out from all the other coaches who were grinders when they played, is that he had 30 goal seasons playing with Yzerman. He knows what skill players need to succeed in the league. They need ice time, reps, and the freedom to fail.

Not for nothing, but if you are one of the young elite talents on this team, this quote probably has you about as excited as the night you were drafted
unless you have an attitude re some time in AHL ... having 5 'top 6 guys' (KZB, Bread, 16) plus Fil, Kakk, Laf, Krav plus who\ever else, means some guys best served playing all-situation minutes w 'pack

I thought he’d do a better job of changing the work ethic of the team. They showed flashes in year 1 but it evaporated in years 2 & 3. Whether it was because the locker room became a country club or the system was just so non-existent, the players looked like they only tried when they felt like it.
Year 1 and even year 2, up to the covid stoppage, was decent. Everything fell apart after that though imo.

It was blatantly obvious there was a major disconnect. Last year was truly a mess

I really don’t like how Drury said making playoffs next year wasn’t a mandate. It absolutely should be. Why were Gorton and JD fired?
