That doesn't make much sense. There's no implication that Keefe is being let go. Why would Drury put all his eggs in one basket?
your comment doesnt make much sense to me, how are all his eggs in one basket? based on what? speculation? I get that drury hasnt proved anything yet but some of you act likes he is sitting around watching without a plan....he has been in the NHL his whole adult life you dont think he maybe has a plan A B and C? Just because we dont know the plan doesnt mean there isn't one. If he makes the hire and people disagree have at it, but all this hand wringing due to unconfirmed rumors and speculation is ridiculous.

Bruce Cassidy on the cusp of winning the Stanley Cup after getting fired from Boston last year. Maybe we should have been patient with Gallant. Paul Maurice is another coach that has bounced around from team to team.
How many times does it have to be stated: the players lost faith on Gallant and clearly expressed it in the exit interviews. The players also tuned out Cassidy, and Maurice in their last jobs. This doesn't mean they are bad coaches, but change was needed. And change was needed here as well.

Are you suggesting Drury might have questionable judgement?

This I'll agree with. Deep rooted organizational failures that preceded Dolan owning the team.

The longer this goes on, the more I think Drury is trying to get both Laviolette and Hynes on the staff. I wouldn't mind Lavi as the head guy if Hynes is the defensive and PK assistant and Knoblauch the offense and PP assistant.
The NHL needs a salary cap for coaching staff.

Cassidy has always been a good coach. He drove excellent results in Boston for the most part despite never winning the whole thing.

He is an asshole which is why he got fired but him being as good as he was is what allowed him to hang around as long as he did in the first place. Nothing about his dismissal was about the on ice product there. Similar to what happened here, the leadership in the Bruins room wanted him gone and they have a ton of pull there. I don’t think the room here aside from Kreider has really earned a voice so that’s one thing but let’s not ignore reality.

Maurice was in Winnipeg for like 8 seasons. That’s a long time for anyone to be at one job.

I would have held onto Gallant strictly because the replacement options either suck or are pretty unproven. If they wanted to make a change they should have done so back in November and hired Trotz. Would we be bored to tears? Yes. Would be have slaughtered NJ? Yes.

Is there a chance we’d still be playing? Also
Yes. Can guarantee that they would have gone a different route at the deadline instead of trying to assemble the Panarin super friends team.

Vegas is also on their third coach in 6 years. You need good-to-great players, and we’re largely stuck with a roster of misfit pieces that is underperforming relative to their talent level sans Igor

There’s a reason why the coach rotation trend emerged the way it did- because it’s the best way it works. You don’t see a lot of Ruff/Trotz 15 year tenures with one organization any more.

The new school thing let’s may question whether the merit of the trend/tradition still holds today, but there’s no question that it emerged over time for a reason.

Did you miss the article about Drury possibly waiting on Keefe?

And? Even if that’s true his top two candidates are still there….I’m not sure what you think all his eggs in one basket means? On top of that this is all based on speculation. If he’s waiting on a keefe decision I can assure you he has a plan for if keefe is retained… I mean who do you think he has missed out on?

For the record I would prefer leach over Laviolette or Hynes.

Igor fox and Kreider.

Kreider drives me nuts sometimes but he has almost 90 goals in the last 2 seasons.
Yeah, Fox too obviously. That’s my bad. I have my qualms with Kreider, but it’s more so just realizing that he’s changed his game to help match with him slowly losing some of his speed. I think it’ll help him prolong his career though, and it’s tough to complain when he’s been such a consistent goal scorer

Bruce Cassidy is about 1000x the coach that Gerard “Galaxy Brain” Gallant is.

Also I’d have no problem with Keefe. I’d take him before laviolette and Hynes that’s for sure

I’m going to laugh if they hire someone no one has been talking about.

I half expect it.

Maybe Emily knows who the Rangers will hire.

Butch Cassidy was head coach in Boston for six seasons. Gallant was here for two.

@will1066 right now

Donoski if healthy or Craig Smith may be cheap
Brown is ideal off am Injury for RW

If Goodrow stays and Laf/Miller get 6.5 total what’s left for UFAs ?

Assuming a backup costs 1 million tops
Halak would be smart to take that if they even want him back

I have to admit, Rangers have been tight lipped on this, which is not like them.

It’s just speculation out there. It’s been like, “So and so may have or may not have met with the Rangers this week.” Lol
