Nothing is happening until after the Cup and then I’d imagine a flood of stuff (both ways - Keefe might get let go).

No reason to rush at all. The choice has very little room for error from the start. The Rangers won’t be able to start the way they did last year IMO. I would not be shocked to see Hynes/whoever and then fired in December if it isn’t working. As crazy as that might be.

And? Even if that’s true his top two candidates are still there….I’m not sure what you think all his eggs in one basket means? On top of that this is all based on speculation. If he’s waiting on a keefe decision I can assure you he has a plan for if keefe is retained… I mean who do you think he has missed out on?

For the record I would prefer leach over Laviolette or Hynes.

,,,Is this Ted Drury?

No, just someone who is sick of people getting on drury’s hiring process based off of pure speculation.Point remains his eggs are not in one basket as you claim…go on hating on him based off of speculation, I will wait till the hire is done….and even if I don’t like it I will root for success

You still haven’t answered who he has missed out on

How do you say "thank you" in Alpha Male?
Radko Gudas just grunts. That's one way.

Speaking of Radko Gudas...just this second I figured out who he really is....

Non from Superman 2.

They honestly don't need to hire someone until end of the month.

Most coaches have no input in the draft anymore. It's a dumb way to do business in my opinion, however that's the way it's done.

Coach and GM should be like a songwriting team in my opinion and have back and forth.

There is a simple way of looking at this: on one hand there is no hurry to hire a coach (Gallant was not hired until June 13th). On the other, if Drury had identified someone that he really wanted (and if that guy was available), we would already have a new coach. That fact that he hasn't would seem to tell us that he is not quite satisfied with the options currently available, that there is someone none of us has thought about (unlikely) or that he is waiting to see if Keefe shakes loose. But, it there was an outstanding man available, Drury would have already pounced. He has not.

Drury might as well wait as long as possible to make a hire, everyone they talked to outside of Babcock is still available. He also probably knows he can just hire Knob if everything else false through. Which is obviously very unlikely.

The Trophy is (supposed to be) awarded to the defenseman who had the best season. Scoring 100 points on a shit team isn't an arbitrary number. But if we are playing that game, he scored 25 points more than the next defenseman, Josh Morrissey, who had 76. Fox was 8th in scoring for defensemen, and you think Fox deserves to be a Norris candidate and that Karlsson doesn't because you think outscoring your peers by a country mile and reaching a significant landmark and scoring the most points by a defenseman in 30 years is "arbitrary". Ok.
There are many ways to judge who had the best season.

I think most voters, and certainly most people I've talked to about it, would tell you that that's not Karlsson but they feel like he has to win it because of the totals he put up.

Never.

Listen, I'm not worried about him in the long term. He'll be fine. But there were stretches of games where he looked a step behind, especially in his own end. Made mistakes which he just didn't make his first two years in the league.
The mistakes in his own end don't worry me. His not moving his feet in his own end concerns me a lot. Trying to play smart not hard. Trying to reach with stick instead of moving feet is not inspiring effort. I think he knows he isn't a quick start stop skater and he tries to hide it at times.

I wonder if Calgary’s decision to hire Huska might set off a chain reaction. Mitch Love was the coach of Calgary’s AHL team and thought to be the leading candidate for the Flames. I wonder if his availability may prompt Treliving to whack Keefe. Which in turn…

Keefe never had Igor Shesterkin in goal.

Goaltending hasn't always been the problem for the Leafs in the playoffs. Sometimes the superstars floundered, sometimes their depth never came through.

There probably isn't much tangible difference between Keefe or the other two main candidates. Any coach would have great regular season numbers with Matthews, Marner, and Nylander on the roster.

Keefe is a systems guy and we’re all calling for that. Toronto’s goalies have always been bad while he’s been there. He’s a very good candidate for us if he shakes loose

Panarin was hurt after the Wilson thing. It was unclear what. Some verified poster (it might have Edge) said it. He's also gotten lazier and the bad habits have crept in.

I don't see Hynes fixing it. Panarin will laugh and leg kick and dance all over that guy. He'll cut his ice time and he will mope. It'll become an issue.
Panarin hasn't done the big kick in quite a while. I wonder if he doesn't feel as good or is not as flexible. Not surprising - the guy is 31.
