It's a step down but that kind of internal eval, knowing what they knew turns your stomach a bit in its own way.

Clearly they were wrong. I don't think anyone doubts that. I also don't know what it was like to be in those rooms. I pray I would do the right thing. I think we all do. It's easy to judge never having been in that position. Just hope the rest of the league and us all can learn from this. Should never, ever happen again.
It was unsigned, so it was never finalized or approved. For all we know, it’s a draft template based on the previous year’s eval. That’s how a lot of people start annual performance evaluations.

Jim Gary's account is the only one I believe fully, as he is the whistleblower in this situation and has no reason to hide anything. Quenneville was more concerned woth "hurting team chemistry" than outing a rapist. Not someone who deserves to represent this organization.
You said you read the report. Did you read the part where Beach told his friend that he let Aldrich watch and masturbate as he had sex with another woman at Aldrich’s apartment?

Ah so now we're victim blaming. As if there wasn't a power issue at play there, come on now.

Of course there was a power issue. But the accounts differ as to whether the encounter was consensual. Beach was 20 at the time. Teammates and Beach’s confidant corroborate aspects of Aldrich’s account.

Now put yourself in Q’s shoes. You say he facilitated a rapist. There’s just as much evidence that it was a consensual sexual encounter. It’s the Coach’s responsibility to file a police report? Even Beach didn’t file a police report.

Q said he was brought into a discussion in progress and didn’t learn the identities of the personnel being discussed. The team president told him what was going to happen.

The coach’s job is to coach. He is not responsible for stuff that happens between adults in their apartments after work hours.

Absolutely. And even though there was no recommendation, you could make the argument that the Blackhawks were still complicit in the later abuse by not reporting Aldritch to the authorities.

It's all a mess and I hope Drury wants no part of it. I'm not about to feel bad for guys like Quenneville and Bowman if they never find their way back to the NHL. The only victim here was Kyle Beach.

Again, this meeting took place right after the WCF in 2010. I'd be annoyed too if this incident was brought to my attention for the first time right before the SCF. It doesn't mean that Q thought the SCF was more important than Beach's well-being...

rn Q is almost as far as DQ or GG from being the NYR HC, yet we already have this.
Imagine the outrage, the protests, ooof!
Heck, imagine how some on this board will be.. Already gearing up lol. DOn't we know eh? Some will certainly stop being sensible ;-)

Only imagine if it's indeed him, and he goes on to win the damn thing, the first in 30. And the usual suspects announce that "Q CUPS DON'T COUNT" or something. Lol.

WOuld have been so so sweeeet ngl.

I imagine even this post is borderline infraction lol.

Drury should look into Dan Blysma. His AHL team reached he Calder Cup finals last night. Coachella Valley. He is not an old guy. He has won a Cup. Jack Adams. He didn't have Crosby in the lineup very much when he was coaching there. His Buffalo teams were young teams and they weren’t terrible.

Bettman is scheduled to meet with both of them after the final is over. When is Bettman making the decision on reinstatement?
Blysma had an awful reputation around the game after his time in Buffalo and Pittsburgh. He has been rehabbing his image for years. Not sure I want to take that risk.

I will reiterate: if this league reinstates Quenneville and the Rangers hire him, I am gone.
Make that two.

I'll become a Kraken supporter. Full stop.

Even in the best case scenario, Quenneville knew what was going on and didn't notify the police. He's complicit.

Let's just talk about Quenneville if/when it happens.
Sorry. Didn't see this before I responded, I'll be quiet.

HFNYR's nightmare:

Brett Howden, come get the Stanley Cup.

@Filip Chytil's dream

It's not my nightmare, but it sure is GM Drury's. More egg on his already embarrassed face.

Would rather have stuck with Gallant over hiring Laviolette.

We played decent defense and had some stretches of being watchable.

The roster is flawed even if I disagree with the coaching.

Gallant should have been fired in December. It was obvious the situation was untenable already then.

Hey Folks,

The discussion of Quenneville has derailed this thread. I ask to not go into details or debate of the situation that happened in Chicago since he has not been hired by the Rangers or even interviewed. I apologize but it's just not the time or place for it.

If you have any issues, feel free to PM me.

Thanks!

Leo

Who the hell would want to work for Chris Drury and James Dolan? I can’t imagine a more uninspiring duo to be in a room with. I guess Hynes fits that mold perfectly, a complete void in terms of charisma and aptitude.

At least Gorts and JD had patience, passion, and a plan.

In just about 13 months, this organization has fallen from the peak of hype and hope to depths of despair and indifference I haven’t seen in a long time. Rebuild 2.0 coming next summer when we burn out in the first round again.

We never get a good coach. Hopefully Brind'Amour loses his patience with the cheap owner

I really wouldn't mind Hynes as an assistant

Keefe would be the best available, if he comes loose... With some adjustments to the gameplan he could be great.

I remember how everyone was talking about it being one of the greatest rebuilds ever, not just Ranger fans. In 2018 we had three 1st round picks. We added Panarin, Fox, Trouba & the 2nd overall pick in a single offseason the year after. Then the next year we luck into the 1st overall pick. And here we are.

Depressing lol

Laviolette
Hynes

Those are the two rumored by most. Laviolette the front runner.

But it appears Drury is waiting for something or maybe believes a better candidate will suddenly fall from the sky

It's going to be either of these two, imo. Rangers aren't tight lipped like other teams, so we could likely here something if someone else is in the mix.

You might as well fire the GM right now.

He's completely botched this. What a mess.

Even if Laviollette was the (completely uninspiring) choice, what he has done since that leaked has made an even bigger mess. No one wants this guy, but it seems like the team barely wants him either.

And any other of the coaching prospects are awful.

Seems like he fired Gallant because of the fight they had, without a clear idea of where they were going next, or how to upgrade, or what this team was missing.

That would kinda fit in with the fact that the GM has had no idea what direction to take a young, up and coming team for years now, and just has been throwing darts at the dartboard instead of developing young talent.

What a mess. One of the best rebuild ever at one point, completely derailed.
