Hynes is lifeless with no heart, personality, nor soul, just an empty “person”. Perfect coach for this lifeless team. If we hire that freak of nature that goes by “it” pronouns, or Gallant with a hair transplant (Lavi) I’m rooting for the Coyotes until Drury is fired.
Like I said, wouldn’t mind him as an assistant. But definitely not at “the guy”

Keefe
Beodreau
Hynes

With two days off between games 2 & 3 of the SCF, the Rangers have either been waiting for this break to announce their new coach or Drury has no idea what he is doing.

You know where my money is.

I know where your money SHOULD be.

Who the hell would want to work for Chris Drury and James Dolan? I can’t imagine a more uninspiring duo to be in a room with. I guess Hynes fits that mold perfectly, a complete void in terms of charisma and aptitude.

At least Gorts and JD had patience, passion, and a plan.

In just about 13 months, this organization has fallen from the peak of hype and hope to depths of despair and indifference I haven’t seen in a long time. Rebuild 2.0 coming next summer when we burn out in the first round again.
On Dolan and the Ghost of Sather falls a lot of the blame, lets not pretend Gorton and J.D had the ship steered exactly in the right direction. Would it have taken that much to ensure they had at least 1 or 2 guys on the roster that could make sure their stars didn't get violated? That was as disgraceful a showing as i've ever seen!

There's a bad mix of vets here.. they're blowing their first round picks... they're not developing the #1 and #2... they're signing NMTCs... they have coaches with no structure... they have no $

Not sure what's turning this around.

Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette on NHL Radio this am. Said Patrick Roy would be a HUGE mistake for the Rangers. Stated his inability to work with management, his ego and desire to
total control over every decision made regarding hockey.

What in the world is going on.

Looking like Drury overplayed his hand big time

He is very clearly in self-preservation mode.

He knew Gallant was a loose cannon after the interview he gave where he talked about needing more players with work ethic. He couldn't run the risk of Gallant continuing to talk like that to the media or running into Jimmy Dolan or Sather at the watercooler and saying something similar so he axed him.

Now he is trying to find someone who satisfies the criteria of experienced, competent and someone who will be a reliable Drury loyalist. That combination is not terribly easy to find at the moment.

Roy was never going to happen for that reason. He would be another loose cannon Drury would have to worry about.

Whoever Drury picks it's going to be someone boring and someone who will see Drury as his patron and the person he owes his career to.

Drury survived one red wedding in the front office and he's desperately trying to find someone who can buy him as many years as possible before it's his own turn to get axed.

I also would have rather just kept Gallant tbh. Not because I think he's amazing but because I don't trust this organization to choose someone better.

Perhaps Knoblauch does fit this bill better than anyone else.

You might as well fire the GM right now.

He's completely botched this. What a mess.

Even if Laviollette was the (completely uninspiring) choice, what he has done since that leaked has made an even bigger mess. No one wants this guy, but it seems like the team barely wants him either.

And any other of the coaching prospects are awful.

Seems like he fired Gallant because of the fight they had, without a clear idea of where they were going next, or how to upgrade, or what this team was missing.

That would kinda fit in with the fact that the GM has had no idea what direction to take a young, up and coming team for years now, and just has been throwing darts at the dartboard instead of developing young talent.

What a mess. One of the best rebuild ever at one point, completely derailed.

The downward spiral of roster moves started with the Buch trade.

I know it's beating a dead horse but the decision to not pay him and put most of that cap towards Goodrow forced us to move draft capital for wing help two deadlines in a row with no long term piece to show for it.

Hell, maybe we don't end up in the ECF last year (and that was a fun run) but our entire organization would look a lot better.

All you needed to see was his first offseason as GM to know Drury was an idiot.

Which tells me he was the man for the job.

The less decision making Drury has, the better.

Wouldn't be the worst thing. It's evident that those that would make those decisions don't know what they're doing either. And this is precisely why Roy wasn't a consideration to begin with. Drury and Sather's fragile egos wouldn't be able to handle Roy making better decisions than they would.

I remember how everyone was talking about it being one of the greatest rebuilds ever, not just Ranger fans. In 2018 we had three 1st round picks. We added Panarin, Fox, Trouba & the 2nd overall pick in a single offseason the year after. Then the next year we luck into the 1st overall pick. And here we are.

Depressing lol

Bolded is your reason why this hasn't worked out.

Was so f***ing dumb.

Roy talking to Drury would've been like the episode of Parks and Rec when Swanson went to Home Depot.

Drury: How can I help you?

Roy: I know more than you do.

Drury: .....ok

This is kind of assuming you know all of the possible coaching candidates Drury has talked to or is interested in interviewing. Why don't we wait to see who ACTUALLY gets hired before we declare it "botched." Hahahaha.

JD and Gorton didn’t have patience. They signed Panarin and traded for and signed Trouba. Those moves started the downfall of bad contracts on this team and ended the rebuild full stop.

Oh please. They went to the ECF last year and still had a 107 point season this year. Stop the woe is me routine and acting like they are bottom feeders. The first round loss was very disappointing but they lost in 7 games to a good team who finished 3rd in the league in points. Good teams lose in the first round sometimes. Ask Tampa. This team needs some changes but lets see how it plays out first. They still have a lot of talent and I'm looking forward to young guys like Othmann, Cuylle, Berard, Sykora being on the team sooner rather than later.

10000% percent.

What if we had no Goodrow but did have Buch, and probably two firsts and two seconds back in the fold?
