Speculation: Rangers Head Coach Search (Laviolette being finalized? According to Vince and Friedman)

Don LsGreca. I hate that guy. That guy is a Devil guy. He is the ultimate guy who was in the right spot at the right time. He previously worked at WFAN. He talked about his Devils fandom. When the Rangers and Devils were in game 7 OT in 1994, Don was rooting for the Devils.

Michael Kay is incapable of doing a show by himself so they have two sidekicks for him.

LaGreca is awful. Rosenberg is worse. Kay is bad,

MSG doesn't give a shit about hockey having Don do their games on the radio. Do people still listen to the radio?

Kay couldn't beat Francesa and Russo and they barely beat Francesa who was mailing it in at the end of his career.

Carton and Roberts are destroying Kay's show. Carton and Roberts aren’t even a good listen. Carton's name is Cartoon.

Man that's a wild coincidence, I just posted a thing mentioning I met La Greca outside the Garden back in the day.

Yea he's a Devils fan, but back then he was the only guy on the radio that would ever talk about hockey. Free radio rarely ever talks about hockey. But he was the guy who would. So despite him being a Devils fan, at least he was a hockey fan that would talk hockey.

Now with Sirius XM it's not an issue. Hockey 24/7.
 
Roy is the kind of coach that's going to have a short shelf life. It's a move to try and get something out of this current contention window. I'd be shocked to see Roy be the coach for more than 3 seasons if he's the guy.

Knoblauch should and likely will be the guy after Roy when the Rangers are looking to retool and make changes once big time money comes off the books. Knoblauch is a more defensive minded coach, yes? Hire Boudreau to run the offense and PP with Knob running the defense and PK, with Roy as the head guy.

I mean everyone in the media has mentioned Laviolette to the Rangers,

I think at the very least Drury wants to interview Roy after the Cup game on Sunday, otherwise I think Lav would have been announced already.

Leads me to believe its between the two, or maybe one other outside candidate.

In the end I think Drury and co. will go with the safe route. I wouldnt be against taking a little risk at this point given the landscape of where this franchise is.

Roy and Drury have history. I think they're waiting to interview Roy since he's a former teammate of Drury. Can they hire Peter Forsberg as 5 on 5 or PP coach lol?
