Rangers are in first place in their division on Christmas, with 8 million in cap space. Their direct competitors have $0 in cap space. Basically they are willingly playing with an incomplete team and still hanging with the rest. Theres no doubt the organization is going to deal picks & prospects to beef up this team, most likely with rentals. Elite goalie play with Igor, elite skaters who can win games by themselves (Panarin/Fox) and added depth at F & D will make them as formidable as anyone in the East in a playoff series.

I doubt it.

Agree with everything you are saying but they haven't played too many games this year where the ice wasn't tilted against them. We have been hanging on by kreider's start as well as Shesterkin. We need more scoring from guys that should be scoring

Tell you what. Maybe it’s because I’m one of the older guys now but there will be a lot of years my friends where the analytics will say we suck and so will the standings. I’ve learned to cherish seasons like this because they are few and far between. 30 games in, a point out of first overall?! Enjoy it.

Well there is plenty of evidence of what type of teammate he is on the ice and on the bench. Common sense would say it spills into the locker room.In law if you have "plenty" of circumstantial evidence it counts as evidence. There are plenty of examples but I will say this: the last time I saw a Goalie make an on ice gesture like that at teammates for a goal (not to mention one he was mostly at fault for) was in pee wee hockey when the coaches son was in net.

The circumstantial evidence suggests that he isn't the best teammate around, but to suggest that that evidence proves he is the biggest locker room cancer in the entire NHL is nothing short of being delusional.

I fully expect another game like this against Vegas. Hopefully we could pull it out of our asses again or at least get a point.

I'd expect the time off to help A LOT. Between rest and practice. We should obliterate Montreal.... and be ready to go against FLA, @TB, TB, EDM, VGK.

THERE ARE NO EXCUSES FOR THAT STRETCH. We had time off and will be rested. We will be well practiced. Panarin and Shesty should be back. We should be witnessing a new peak for the team

That's the measuring stick. I'd want 4-1 record at that stretch. 3-2 is acceptable.

3-2 in that stretch is a massive win.

I don't really care about the records. Obviously wins would be great but we've all watched this game long enough to know that doesn't always happen. Just play well, way better than they have been playing for the last 2 weeks.

Tired or not, there is no reason for any team to get outplayed by the f***ing Coyotes.

Was very surprised Panarin wasn’t tugged because of a positive COVID test. Nashville with an outbreak and now Beagle and Crouse in protocol.

NYR mini outbreak coming in hot just in time for the holidays.

We dodged positives from playing against the Preds amazingly. Maybe team vs team transmission isn't as much of a thing as just everyday locker room transimission

We’re a point out of first place in the whole league. Do people not watch other teams play? Everyone has tough nights. Everyone gets tired everyone has injuries. No one is running out there 30 games in playing 60 mins of great hockey. If they were they’d be 10 points clear of us FFS. We just went thru a ridiculous stretch and gutted out a win that no one will care about in a week. It’s 2 pts shut up
Are you really asking this?

You know what they say: good teams win when they should have lost.

I'm quite interested when the league will start letting players with covid play in a game. With the majority of the population vaccinated and the virus getting less deadly day by day this decision by the NHL it's not feasible for the future.

The NFL is going to start clearing players who are vaccinated and not showing symptoms much faster, hopefully it works for them, and the rest of the leagues implement the same.

I’m quite uninterested in ever seeing this

I get being nit-picky and reactive in the IGT because, well, that’s what the thread is for. But also, absolutely no reason to disappointed with the team overall. They’re doing great. They’ve just hit a rough patch and also teams are preparing more seriously for the Rangers, too, I think.
*One* key (of many) to a good season is winning the close games when tired/injured/out-of-synch. And so far we’re checking that box.
