There’s this common but ridiculous NHL ‘trying to win’ coach mentality that a respected vet cannot be replaced by a non-vet. If it’s a bottom feeder then anything goes, but unless it’s Crosby-esque no youngun will hurt a vet’s feelings on a winning team. ‘Locker room would implode because we’re trying to win’ or something dumb like that.

It was so easy for GG to just sit Laf for the sake of ‘shortening the bench’, not a second thought and so damned stupid this guy was our f***in first overall. Maybe if GG was on board when we selected him but might feel ‘he’s not my guy so we’ll make him earn it…again’.
This is true. It's all around the league. That old school mentality is particularly bad with the Rangers. It's why we fail prospects over and over again.

Igor did that.
Igor hasn’t coached anyone. Gallant has had plenty of success in Florida, Vegas, and now NY. Every team’s fan base has criticism of their coach. It doesn’t make them all losers or Neanderthals or any other insult you can come up with. You’re back on that sadclown cocky nonsense bc Igor had a few bad games. The Rangers still have a winning record against playoff teams over that stretch.

And if you want to place a bet, download an app or go to a bar or bodega and find a bookie. Just because someone doesn’t want to bet with someone they only know as an overconfident condescending sadclown they have never met, it doesn’t make your argument any stronger.

Still can't believe Kreider passing up the shot vs a sieve goalie off a royal road pass, on a 2 on 1, down 2 goals midway through the 3rd period. I honestly think that was one of the worst incidences of over passing from anyone on this team all season.

Dawes wasn't moved over yet, if Kreider shoots that off the pass - it's a goal and now it's 5-4 against a young team who struggles with momentum swings, there's a solid chance the Rangers actually would've tied up that game.
Yea that was brutal, almost made this same post. There was that horrific offsides flub in the second as well that was going to be an odd-man rush. Kreider is so frustrating sometimes.

Neither has Gallant coached anyone. Our offense stinks. Our defense stinks. If not for Igor this team would be on the outside looking in.

The passing up of shots has really been endemic of this team this year. It's beyond frustrating. There is no better play than a shot on net at any time.

Last time Laffy was benched for Reaves, he struggled in the following games.

He finally starts to show signs again.... gets benched.

I don't think Gallant is the right choice, long term. He's very good at certain aspects and very Quinn in other aspects. We need a modern NHL coach

Given that he speaks in absolutes and with such certainty, he should be offering 9:1 odds on whatever stupid bet he is pushing on fellow posters. After all, he is right and everyone else is wrong, so it’s guaranteed money.

If you need 9 to 1 odds, you're not really that confident in it happening, are you?

Yeah, I don't get why Lafreniere was benched. He's been playing well lately and is on a 4 game point streak, not sure why he is the one singled out to be benched. It's that old school knee jerk reaction that isn't just a Gallant specific issue, where coaches automatically revert to benching the kids and rolling veterans. I know Lafreniere is a kid and does need to learn more obviously but not sure how benching him helps the team let alone Alexis himself.

I feel like Motte-Goodrow is 2/3 of the way to being a version of Tampa's 3rd line on their cup teams. Do we pair them as a 4th line duo? Not sure where it fits. Not sure how these lines are gonna shake out when healthy.

You were offering even money for the rangers to win the cup a few weeks ago. You just don’t understand how betting and market odds work.
Huh? To win the cup? That's absolutely not something I would say. The Rangers aren't going to make it out of the first round this year.

Is it any more obvious?

Caufield is a bust. Washed up. Horrible player. MSL comes on, and he's on fire.

Don't worry. We have Jed Ortmeyer and Tanner Glass in charge of our skill development.
Night and day. Montreal actually looks like a team up there too. Marty is only interim coach. There is still time for Drury to have him come back to live in Connecticut and coach closer to home. For a lot of money.

I love how Gallant won't take Strome off of PP1 for Lafreniere but he'll do it for Copp.

It comes down to puck battles, Laf isn't physically there yet, Strome for as much as people hate on him works hard to get the puck back if its lost and thats why he holds that spot, Copp is likely a better option in that regard.

I'm also growing tired of this line.

YOU ARE THE LEADERSHIP GROUP. The same people who are guilty of doing the things wrong. STOP MAKING THE SAME EXACT MISTAKES...

Now it has bled into Fox. Fox was a near perfect player tbh.. for a couple seasons and at the start of this season. His play was flawless, in the decisions he made. Lately? He's a mess

Go get back Martin for defense and someone like MSL for 5v5 offense.

Which Laf have you been watching? He's been a complete dog on the puck playing with Zib and Kreider. His hard work helped create that first goal last night.

Why are some GDTs locked immediately and some others let to remain open parallel to the PGTs? Just curious.

Anyway, let's not speak of last night ever again. Ever.
