So now that I'm a bit removed from that shitshow last night, I can be a bit more objective:

As Kreids said, they just fell asleep at the wheel, and like Turk said, they got too cute. Still, I did notice a lot of people out of position. It's not that the new guys played poorly, they didn't, but man is it trial by fire to have one practice and then go into a game with that many new players needing to learn systems and such. Honestly, I don't think we'd all be so up in arms if this was earlier in the season and three guys would have been inserted into the line up due to protocol.

I still hope we never see Nemeth again.

Fair credit given to the Devils. They were on fire. God damn is Bratt a hell of a hockey player. Think about this. On THAT team, he's a +2. They had it, we didn't.

Its the next day and I think it is pretty clear the team was wound very tight for the big weekend against Tampa and Carolina. They just hit the pressure release valve on this one and that's what happens. Any team in this league will burn you if you let it go for a moment. I expect them to come back with a better effort next game.

I said it before and I'll say it again: if this team played like crap throughout the whole game, there would be excuses. Maybe some valid, some not.

But I just can't wrap my head how bipolar this team looked in just the first two periods: a well oiled machine in the 1st, and just falling apart like a Chinese motorcyle in the 2nd.

And a lot of it had to do with them trying to be cute, but that goes back to the larger issue at hand, which is why the f*** hasn't Gallant put the kibosh on that?

Don't get me started with him punishing players undeservedly and not doing shit to players who do deserve it.

Honestly, I don't know why he sat Laffy. I didn't think he played poorly. Hell, I know it was the first period but he had that one awesome defensive play that stopped a possible goal.

As for him stopping the cutesy play, I don't know if you outright can, and this isn't an excuse for Turk. When they're chasing a game, everyone starts trying to do too much: make that extra pass, hold on to the puck that more more second, etc, instead of just playing. It can be a horrible trap, and they fell right into it last night. Couple that with the Devils REALLY upping their game in the second/third and it was a recipe for disaster.

We get a couple of days for practice to get the new guys more acclimated and we're back at it. Don't burn the tape, though. Have that shit on replay until they learn never to fall prey to that nonsense again.

Basically everything I said would happen with Igor has happened. I said the Rangers couldn't continue to rely on him like this or his play would slip. They called me a heretic. One day people in here are going to start listening to me. This Rangers team has yet to learn how to play the right way, and they don't have a leader behind the bench to help them to do it. I swear to Christ it's like people looked at Henrik's whole career and just went "THIS IS FINE, WE CAN JUST DO THIS AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT WILL BE DIFFERENT!"

You're starting to sound as nutty as a screaming homeless guy.

I am loving the takes on here. Very spicy. Guys, right now is not about points. We will make the playoffs. It takes about 5-10 games for everyone to adjust playing with new players. They had an amazing first most likely fueled by the trade deadline hype and the fact that "our gm and coach believe in us". Then fatigue sets in. We have off til... friday? Good. Gives the players rest and time to adjust to the system. I will say this though. Has strome really been doing much lately? He was good in the beginning of the season but now just kind of doesnt move the needle for me. I think drury saw that and got a potential replacement in copp, who will be cheaper (prob 4.5 mil). Do not give me the bs that panarin cant play without strome. He is panarin and lines get stale. It happens. I also just think that line is too small. Vatrano, panarin, strome will get pounded in the playoffs. I would strongly recommend flipping strome and copp for 2c to just see if it would work next year. Or even move copp to c and strome to the rw to move vatrano down to chytil. Gives him a scorer. Hunt is a placeholder for kakko. I thought motte was good and i can tell why he was a fan favorite. Should be cheap to re-sign too.

Some good perspective here:

Take a deep breath everyone, big game Friday.

Yeah, there's one major difference though.

We may share the same lows, but we sure as shit are not sharing the same highs.

We're not even worthy of being a dingleberry on those teams offenses at 5v5. Every team struggles.... not every team struggles for 60+ games at evenstrength. There's a major issue here.

There must be a reason he has not gotten a HC gig yet. A lot of times great players do not make good coaches. One of the worst coaches we ever had was Bryan Trottier.
My policy is see how they coach in juniors. Its way harder imo because you have a revolving door of players that are children and you have to make them play a cohesive game. I also think we forget that knoblauch is always waiting in the wings. But gallant to be fired after we make the playoffs with him as coach? Thats satire if i have ever seen it.

A little different those three guys would likely be scrubs or young guys.

It's a pretty simple issue. The Rangers aren't as good as the elite teams.

To add to the satire, there's a chance Gallant is a finalist for best coach.

1000%. When this team plays their game more consistently and better than they can have the benefit of the doubt concerning a bad loss to a bad team. This team does not get or deserve that benefit.

Just finished watching this shit show. I don't remember which goal it was, but the one where Nemeth and Braun had like a six minute shift ... I won't go back and look, but every forward who were one the ice during that shift are lazy ass bums, and need to be fired into the sun.

Kind of a delayed reaction, but...

feeling like a Mickey Mouse organization after last night,

Hughes's second, if I recall.

The issue with Fox is just that opposing coaches and players are aware of his trickery now and pressure him more now, he needs to adjust. Last year he'd fake someone out and go around them but players aren't buying what he's selling anymore and a lot of times when they pressure him there are layers of pressure that he walks into. It happens to all good players he needs to adjust.
Fox needs someone on his left who can take some of the responsibility in terms of moving the puck up ice. Lindgren is sub-optimal in that area.

Whiners are allergic to facts.
Except once again, it's not about the score or the teams record. Every team gets blown out on the scoreboard for a myriad of reasons; Bad goaltending, poor luck, just plain old playing poorly. But they also have a track record of outplaying their opponents on a nightly basis. The Rangers more often than not are the team who is outplayed but win because of their goaltending or good luck.
