Lindy handicapped us by throwing the Rangers favorite blow up doll out there to start in goal.

And guess what? They made him their blow up doll yet again.

And I preemptively bitched about this in the Jets GDT two games ago. How the Rangers are gonna love playing Vitek on Saturday night.

Part of it is still on Lindy in that third. He should've seen the Rangers charge coming and called the defense/forwards to check back a bit more. The third goal is whatever, it's a scramble off the faceoff. Fourth goal was a piss poor effort with Vanecek looking like an ECHL goalie on the backend of it.

Yeah I’m not overreacting. I like how we played, with two top six forwards out, and only 10 F

Miller is giving the D desperately what they need , transition and good positioning. Jack looks Jack. We are still scoring. Goaltending is out of anyone’s control unfortunately. Best we can do is clean up the D and transition and hope Fitz can find a magic upgrade. The doom and gloom is overboard

Yeah on the bright side Colin Miller has been awesome.

Vanecek looks so small and unathletic in net. I can’t remember having less confidence in a regular goalie.
I’m ready to be done with him. Like I said, he’s been a problem since last February and basically irredeemable since the playoffs.

You can’t come back from a playoffs like that with the same team. I mean, you can when you’re Brodeur and you’ve already won at least one cup and been to multiple conference finals (think the 99 playoffs), but you can’t do it when it’s your only playoffs or only year on that team. It’s very rare. Maybe if he was a rookie, but he wasn’t.

I forgot Nosek was gone for most of the game. Didn't help at all.

Because his last like 40 games are way worse than .907 and this teams defense is atrocious.
Because we’ve been so underwhelming this year and the sample size is no longer small. Watching the games I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for something bad inevitably to happen as the other teams skate freely in our end, control the puck, hit open trailers and guys uncovered in open spots, and we seem so infuriatingly passive. Like we are just watching it happen. The sum of our strategy seems often to be “rim the puck along the boards, maybe then reverse it, chip it go the next guy” until we turn it over and are on our heels again.

Lmao, this team is virtually a lock for the postseason. They play regular season hockey to a tee.
I hope so.

I don’t think the Flyers will keep winning at this pace, but I don’t understand how the Capitals are doing it.

Especially when Ovechkin has been meh and everybody is old and done or just not any good.

Ya I don’t blame him as much for tonight as a lot of others but as I said before sub .900 is what it is regardless. And I maintain I want him off the roster but we know that ain’t happening.

Not trying to blame or shame anyone not having the money to go see hockey games, I apologize if that's how I came across, I'd never shame anyone not spending money. It was simply an observation that it's very annoying having our building filled with rival fans.

Didn't say ya you were just giving some context as to why some people just don't go to these games. It's hard to justify going to this 1 game when you can literally go to 5+ other games for the same cost. There's also all the Rangers fans who live in NJ and go to only these 2 games all year because they don't go to MSG either.

I'm also spoiled with the Red Bulls games as I'm a season ticket holder there as well who stands in their supporters sections and I never have to sit anywhere near away teams fans. They aren't allowed in and are made to leave if they try to come in. It's made me hate the experience so much of sitting next to other teams fans. I basically go to 0 away games these days for the Devils cause I simply don't enjoy the experience. These games vs the Rangers are basically on the same level as that cause you never know who you're gonna sit next to.

It won't ever happen but I would absolutely love to see away fans sections put in to places. It's such a game changer in terms of experience.

Well playing CBJ helps + they don't have the goal scoring for it.

I think he won’t play here next year.

Barring a huge turnaround and finishing the season with similar numbers to last year.

He won’t get three strikes like Blackwood did. The organization isn’t as high on him, although you would never know it with how much they’ve continued to throw him out there this year.

He’ll get two strikes and he’s already on strike one with last playoffs.

The losses when you play well are more frustrating than just playing like shit the entire time. I'd be more worried if it was one of those "only play well for like 10 minutes" losses.

i can agree but Vitek was struggling with rebounds a bit tonight and has historically; so its hard for me to gibe him the benefit of the doubt

if that was uncommon for him id be willing to simply blame the defense; but herr i think it shared fault
I understand. There is no one out there, goalie, that Fitz could get that helps us considering the long-term objectives. Big problem. I have long said the Devils have had goalie problems but I never saw a fix in this last off season, Fitz is in a hard place. I have also pointed out that our defensive play hasn't been great. when we play good D we win most of the time.
I still have faith.

Also, Dawson Mercer had an awful game tonight.
I earmarked that he could get an $8m per season contract at the end of the season if he continued his development.

Now i dont want to offer him more than $4m per season and he could even be trade bait for a goalie.

8-7-1 when they haven't had their 2C's and they employ Brendan Smith in serious situations is fine by me. They win that game 75% of the time they just played, no one wants to give those scumbags credit but their push was good the last 10 mins and the Devils folded. Also lol 3PP's to 1.
