Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Caps Game 5: see you on sunday

If I'm the head coach:

Richards is a 3rd line center and removed from PP
Zooks spends the entire 2:00 on every PP
Pyatt sits, Kreider is in
I pray that Staal gets better
I tell Rick Nash to look for other players and pass the puck and look to get it back. Or shoot earlier
Moore stays on point on 1st PP unit

Post game interview he looked dead. Completely red.

Talked about how he made failed to clear the puck in OT before the goal, and could barley talk. Sounded and looked like he just saw his parents get killed.

Somebody softballed the puck back to the point on that last goal.

lol It's not like Boyle went out today and just went Paul Bunyan on everyone giving the Caps 7 PP's. He had a single dumb penalty and they scored ONE goal. ONE! If a tie score of 1 to ****ing 1 is all it takes to deflate this team until OT, well then **** me. We deserve the loss.

yes! we can't even GET OUT OF OUR ****ING ZONE FOR LIKE 3 SECONDS

I'm really worked up after this one. it's a discrepancy; a bad one; when you can't score more than 1 goal. And the offense looks lke a bunch of autistic headless chickens behind the net mooning the other team.

No, no.

They don't need to worry about Game 7.

There's still a Game 6 to be played.

We were down 3-2 last year in the first round. We overcame that. I don't remember what it was like here during that time, but I'm sure it was doom and gloom as usual. Every team goes through adversity.

It was a **** show in here. Kershaw said he'd eat his pubes if we won the series. Pretty sure that never happened!

And he played astonishingly lazy defense on the OT goal

Also when the Rangers had the puck behind the net, after we had scored the first goal, the Caps collapsed 3 in the box, and intercepted many passes into that area. Rangers never adjusted and kept passing into that area...lol...adjust adjust adjust...

They largely don't mesh because Del Zotto is really bad on the point in general. He's not good at skating the puck in the zone (or at least he is worse than both McDonagh and Moore), he has an awful shot (no accuracy), and he is too slow with his decision making. He is constantly receiving the pass, then waiting a second or two, and then acting instead of instantly feeding it to someone else or shooting.

I agree. I actually like Richards on the point a lot. He has scored a couple of goals from the point (I think 2 of his PP goals came from there) and he can create some nice chances. Pair him with Moore and I think you have a good unit. Del Zotto is just maddening at times.

Blames anyone but richards

Rangers go to overtime in the playoffs? They lose. Just like EVERY. OTHER. YEAR.

Worthless.

Series over.

This is why I said this has 2009 feel to it in the gamethread. This BS has been going on since Torts got here. Renney has done better with lesser talented groups.

The powerplay was good earlier in the year when Zucc was on the point. Then he was inexplicably removed from the point and the powerplay has sucked again.

Also, why the **** does everyone think Rick Nash is hurt? Where did he get hurt? He looked like **** before he banged his knee. Everyone plays banged up thats no ****ing excuse. He has a grand total of ZERO goals this series. Even a torn labrum Gaborik did better. A torn labrum is a lot more painful and debilitating than a ****ing bruised knee.

That's the excuse here for when your bank roll bling bling top-flight talent isn't playing up to their paycheck. He must be hurt! I call this the Gaborik Syndrome. At least with Gaborik it was always possible he was hurt since he was playing hurt pretty often.

All mistakes are magnified when offensive threats are almost non-existant.

This is the problem. The other stuff is fallout.

Exactly! How long can a defense and goalie play while the offense scores 0 or 1 goals a game on the road? Is it the system or the forwards? Whatever it is if they win at home there is no way they can win a game 7 playing like this.

Those would be the smart moves but Torts is a idiot who is still stuck in the past. His system doesnt work anymore

Although it's too late to start now, we have a goalie who'd I'd let face most of the shots thrown at him. To me, like many goalies, is more "in the game" when he's getting consistent work load as the game wears on.

Save the shot blocking for the PK - let Henrik do the rest. Be ready for fast transition up the ice.

With our roster, we're faster than what we play most nights. We don't need to play grinding, collapsing-defense hockey.

I really think Nash is hurt - I saw in one clip from the bench tonight his sleeve was up and bit and he had a hard-shell brace on his forearm to the base of his wrist.

Callahan needs to have a game where he's hitting everything in sight. Outside of the great Erskine hit I've seen him shy away from finishing a check to instead turn up the ice. Not sure what's going on there, hopefully he's not hurt too.

I'm not mad at Boyle. Yes he had a dumb penalty but he otherwise had a great game and it was good to see at least someone out there playing with some intent and urgency.
