Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Caps Game 5: see you on sunday

Somebody softballed the puck back to the point on that last goal.

Why doesnt he address the issue that we played the 2nd and 3rd period in our own end literally only getting the puck out to center to the caps or deep for a line change?

Exactly! How long can a defense and goalie play while the offense scores 0 or 1 goals a game on the road? Is it the system or the forwards? Whatever it is if they win at home there is no way they can win a game 7 playing like this.

Exactly my point. This team is relying Lundy to play god-like every frickin game.

No reason to let this loss ruin your weekend. Right Chris Dru.. Eh Ryan Callahan? Every single Ranger needs to be better in game 6.

Ugh.

I agree. I actually like Richards on the point a lot. He has scored a couple of goals from the point (I think 2 of his PP goals came from there) and he can create some nice chances. Pair him with Moore and I think you have a good unit. Del Zotto is just maddening at times.

Be careful. I said this about Richards the other day and got berated. As I said the other day Richards is the only guy on the powerplay who actually gets the puck and shoots. Everyone else is just standing in place looking around. When Richards has it on the point he fires it. It is ironic since he is a playmaker and not a goalscorer.

Everyone knows they have zero chance to win this series now right?

They can't win in Washington. Proven fact.

Of course you can. :) I'm just surprised to see that bridge-jumping post coming from you. That statement that game 6 doesn't matter is ridiculous.

Yep, you are right, their overall play on the road has been horrendous. But with that horrendous play, they've been in OT for three of those. It's one bounce one way or the other in those games. We didn't get one in either of them. To say game 6 doesn't matter because we lost all 3 games on the road is a bit silly.

I wish I had more faith in this team, but I've been let down too many times already to get my hopes up again. It's literally the same crap every year, a "bounce" here and a "bounce" there and we're out in round one.

I wouldn't be so fuming mad it I thought the team put their best effort into it — IMO, they did not. They weren't hitting, they weren't putting pressure on the Caps in the NZ, they weren't winning puck battles, and they were knocked off the puck with ease.

Maybe it's reactionary to say game six "doesn't matter" — but, to me, the only game that really matters at this point for the Rangers is game seven, and if games one, two, and five are any indication of how the Rangers will play in game seven, well, we're pretty ****ed.

Where the hell was the ref to call that diving piece of **** Ribeiro, even? My goodness. If they are going to call Boyle for that weak ass slash, they need to call Ribs for pretending he got ****ing shot. Disgraceful punk.

I do agree...Rib should have been given at least 1 penalty there for either diving or crosschecking and player in the head. Also, the Rangers had a great odd man rush there, that was hard for me to swallow and then the pp goal was hurtful

If I'm the head coach:

Richards is a 3rd line center and removed from PP
Zooks spends the entire 2:00 on every PP
Pyatt sits, Kreider is in
I pray that Staal gets better
I tell Rick Nash to look for other players and pass the puck and look to get it back. Or shoot earlier
Moore stays on point on 1st PP unit

Pretty much, but they're so different at home that he gets confidence in his dumb line-up selections and then plays them in DC where they fail miserably.

I stated this during the game..Staal and Clowe..Plus a healthy Nash...him going ass up towards the net twice in this game makes no sense...Like he couldnt shoot...never saw him do this during the season...He usually crashes to the net...

that's a trademark move, he's been "perfecting" it for a couple years. Surprised you never saw it during the season
