Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Caps Game 5: see you on sunday

That's the excuse here for when your bank roll bling bling top-flight talent isn't playing up to their paycheck. He must be hurt! I call this the Gaborik Syndrome. At least with Gaborik it was always possible he was hurt since he was playing hurt pretty often.

Hardly. The guy is skating like absolute ****. He had a groin issue with HC Davos during the lockout, and had a mysterious undisclosed injury earlier this year.

You're the type of person who was saying the same **** about Gaborik last year during the playoffs, and after the season ended you found out his shoulder was hanging by a thread.

Boyle was dumb. Not arguing that. 0 shots between our Captain and 7.8 million dollar man is ridiculous and the no show in the 3rd period was awful.

If this team truly doesn't have the stones to sack up after that penalty, then we don't deserve to advance.

They shouldn't be in the position to sack up after that penalty. I'm sorry Boyle's disgusting play is worse than ANYTHING that ANYONE has done in this series. Way worse than Nash and Callahan no shows. They played poorly, they didn't make a selfish play. Boyle's play was infinitely worse than Hank's soft goal in game 1. One guy made a mistake, 1 guy thought about himself before the team. Honestly, a mediocre player like Boyle, if I were Torts I wouldn't dress him one more minute after that play in the series.

players change....same PP and goal scoring problems....

we have watched the 5 on 5 pk in the playoffs every year torts has been here

Verizon Center is just hell and so is overtime to this team. Mix the two and you get this.

The funny thing is that the Rangers will win there in the regular season.

I've said before and have been killed for it that I think the lack of playoff success for the Rangers down there is the condition of the ice and the Capitals getting more of the strange bounces that happen when you'd play on a pond in April. I also think that if the Capitals of a few years ago played in an arena with semi-professional ice, they may have won a Cup with all that talent they had.

The difference in this series is the line changes. They get last go. When we had last go at home we looked great and won both games. Torts needs to have something planned for game 7 where he gets the matchups we want..Hard but doable....

The difference in this series is not line changes. Its the fact their 3rd line players are outplaying our 1st line players.Nash,Richards,Cally,Zuc,have all stunk and contributed nothing

Yeah, we lost because Hank gave up rebounds the Caps didn't score on, not because this team is worthless offensively.

Humor me more.

Oh god I was kidding when I said this team needed more Kreider. Too many posters actually thinking it :help:

Reactions on here are almost as frustrating as the game.

They played against a very good team, they dominated the first period and played a close OT. They still have a shot at this series.

With Clowe likely out, I guess Kreider is in. Hope he can bring something.

I agree. I actually like Richards on the point a lot. He has scored a couple of goals from the point (I think 2 of his PP goals came from there) and he can create some nice chances. Pair him with Moore and I think you have a good unit. Del Zotto is just maddening at times.

Richards has scored 1 goal in 11 playoff games,
3rd or 4 line is where he belongs and he should be doing more for the millions he gets paid.
Del Zotto needs to shoot more and actually hot the net with them

I wish I had more faith in this team, but I've been let down too many times already to get my hopes up again. It's literally the same crap every year, a "bounce" here and a "bounce" there and we're out in round one.

I wouldn't be so fuming mad it I thought the team put their best effort into it — IMO, they did not. They weren't hitting, they weren't putting pressure on the Caps in the NZ, they weren't winning puck battles, and they were knocked off the puck with ease.

Maybe it's reactionary to say game six "doesn't matter" — but, to me, the only game that really matters at this point for the Rangers is game seven, and if games one, two, and five are any indication of how the Rangers will play in game seven, well, we're pretty ****ed.

I don't blame you. We've all been let down by this team for many years. If we play that bad in games 2 and and 5 and we still head into overtime? It's not the worst thing in the world. It's frustrating, no doubt about it. This series could still go either way. I'm not ready to say it's over.

I'm trying to figure out what the Rangers will bring back to Verizon in Game 7, they have to generate some offense. Cuz, they are winning Game 6 at MSG.

Stand them up in the neutral zone and counter punch. They did that a couple of years ago quite effectively against the Caps. Yes, I know, a different Rangers team and a different Capitals team.
Doesn't matter, they need to stop them in the middle of the ice.

I think he is, but I think his play is going to get him a compliance buyout, Stepan has taken over as the #1 center. It is time to play the kids, play miller and kreider and maybe even hrivik and/or bourque. It is going to be exciting next year to see how training camp goes. I am not throwing in the towel on this season, just excited for young guys coming in next season! This is a well assembled organization, drafted well lately. It is going to be exciting. But i'm getting ahead of myself...Bring on game 6, 1 period at a time, 1 shift at a time....Rangers will win! :yo:

It will be exciting next year. Until this system takes all their creativity away.

Not Van. But anyone else. Hell, he'd be better of on Minnesota at this point. This team is just worthless when a big offensive play is needed.

If im henrik its either torts goes or i go. He is never the type to speak up but i think that time is getting awfully close

General observations:

- Richards is done. Completely and utterly useless tonight.
- Don't know why Pyatt is getting **** on, he's been solid in this series IMO
- Dorsett played his best game as a Ranger
- Brassard, Hagelin, and Stepan were out most effective offensive players. Boyle and Zuccarello were decent as well.
- Nash was terrible again, but he really does look like he's injured out there. Doesn't have that skating/strength that he had in the beginning of the season. If he isn't injured, well...I regret the trade, to be honest. The ONLY thing that could excuse his play thus far is an injury.
- Lundqvist played his best game since game two. Didn't have to make a ton of crazy saves, but he made the saves he needed to make.

You do know you omitted the 2nd and 3rd period to make a point, right?
