I'm trying to figure out what the Rangers will bring back to Verizon in Game 7, they have to generate some offense. Cuz, they are winning Game 6 at MSG.

Stand them up in the neutral zone and counter punch. They did that a couple of years ago quite effectively against the Caps. Yes, I know, a different Rangers team and a different Capitals team.
Doesn't matter, they need to stop them in the middle of the ice.

Thats not happening with this head coach.

They shouldn't be in the position to sack up after that penalty. I'm sorry Boyle's disgusting play is worse than ANYTHING that ANYONE has done in this series. Way worse than Nash and Callahan no shows. They played poorly, they didn't make a selfish play. Boyle's play was infinitely worse than Hank's soft goal in game 1. One guy made a mistake, 1 guy thought about himself before the team. Honestly, a mediocre player like Boyle, if I were Torts I wouldn't dress him one more minute after that play in the series.

Torts should scratch our best forward now?

Richards has scored 1 goal in 11 playoff games,
3rd or 4 line is where he belongs and he should be doing more for the millions he gets paid.
Del Zotto needs to shoot more and actually hot the net with them

No, Del Zotto needs to not be on the point on the powerplay solely for the reason that he has a bad shot. If he wants to get back on the PP he can work on actually hitting the net in the offseason but it's been the same thing with his shot three years running now.

As I believe I said the other day I would like the first PP unit to be
Callahan Stepan Nash
Stralman Zuccarello

This way everyone is on their off wings with the ability to take one timers. Stralman has a pretty good shot and Zucc takes a quick wrist shot as well as being a precise passer.

Gotta love Ranger fans, the guy who scores the only goal is to blame for the loss...gotta have a whipping boy...:shakehead:help:

Couldn't be the futility of our Powerless Play?

Be careful. I said this about Richards the other day and got berated. As I said the other day Richards is the only guy on the powerplay who actually gets the puck and shoots. Everyone else is just standing in place looking around. When Richards has it on the point he fires it. It is ironic since he is a playmaker and not a goalscorer.

Lol, I could not care less if some n00b "berates" me for knowing more than he does. Not that big of a deal so I'm not really worried about that.

Pair Moore and Richards on the point and I think you have some good results. Richards and Moore have styles that, in theory, should go really well together. They both know when to shoot and both get good, hard, low shots on net. I like Moore's shot better, but Richards can feed him the puck as well.

And Moore is fast enough on the back-end to make up for Richards's lack of speed.

The problem is that the ****ing coaches won't do that. I am no Torts hater, but I cannot stand the stubbornness on PP pairings. Del Zotto CLEARLY does not work with Richards. It's painfully obvious. Torts changes up the lines all the time but for some reason we get the same, tired PP units time and time again. I don't really understand that. I mean, Sullivan is supposedly in charge of this stuff, but if that's actually the case? Maybe Torts needs to truly take over the reigns there. I don't really know, but we always get new lines 50 times during the game but we never really see different PP units.

General observations:

- Richards is done. Completely and utterly useless tonight.
- Don't know why Pyatt is getting **** on, he's been solid in this series IMO
- Dorsett played his best game as a Ranger
- Brassard, Hagelin, and Stepan were out most effective offensive players. Boyle and Zuccarello were decent as well.
- Nash was terrible again, but he really does look like he's injured out there. Doesn't have that skating/strength that he had in the beginning of the season. If he isn't injured, well...I regret the trade, to be honest. The ONLY thing that could excuse his play thus far is an injury.
- Lundqvist played his best game since game two. Didn't have to make a ton of crazy saves, but he made the saves he needed to make.

Any general observations on your boy Boyle and his penalty?

They shouldn't be in the position to sack up after that penalty. I'm sorry Boyle's disgusting play is worse than ANYTHING that ANYONE has done in this series. Way worse than Nash and Callahan no shows. They played poorly, they didn't make a selfish play. Boyle's play was infinitely worse than Hank's soft goal in game 1. One guy made a mistake, 1 guy thought about himself before the team. Honestly, a mediocre player like Boyle, if I were Torts I wouldn't dress him one more minute after that play in the series.

Boyle has more goals than Callahan, Nash and Richards combined. There is absolutely no way that his single blunder right there is as massively poor as you're making it out to be.

So much goes into losing a hockey game. Boyle is a but a single piece. He also happens to be a single piece of why we almost won.

Hardly. The guy is skating like absolute ****. He had a groin issue with HC Davos during the lockout, and had a mysterious undisclosed injury earlier this year.

You're the type of person who was saying the same **** about Gaborik last year during the playoffs, and after the season ended you found out his shoulder was hanging by a thread.

Yeah and until we find out he is playing hurt, I'm not going to assume he is. Also, I rarely got on Gaborik, and I have never gotten on Nash once. He looks tired, not hurt.

This team proves once again that they can't win on the road... 16-6-2 at home vs. 10-12-2 on the road. 0-3 on the road in the playoffs already.

The ten road wins...
Tampa
Boston (SO)
NYI (OT)
Washington
New Jersey
Philly
Carolina
NYI (OT)
Buffalo
Carolina (OT)

So three of them were practically home games and of the other seven only two were against playoff teams.

You misunderstood me. I meant "Moore and Brass have played great but instead he goes with Richards and DZ". I agree with you.

Yeah I did, my bad...

Honestly, I want to see Stralman and Moore together on the PP. One lefty and one righty just shooting one timers at the net. It wouldn't hurt at this point.

Gotta love Ranger fans, the guy who scores the only goal is to blame for the loss...gotta have a whipping boy...:shakehead:help:

Couldn't be the futility of our Powerless Play?

It's between Boyle and Lundy, sadly.

Not only the Powerplay, but how can anyone say this team played good to great offensively whilst getting only 8 SOG through 2 periods?

You don't score, you don't win. If anyone thinks we can get anywhere scoring 1 or 2 goals a game, I have a bridge to sell you. Every goaltender has an off night, can't depend on Hank every game. Same old Rangers.

I think he is, but I think his play is going to get him a compliance buyout, Stepan has taken over as the #1 center. It is time to play the kids, play miller and kreider and maybe even hrivik and/or bourque. It is going to be exciting next year to see how training camp goes. I am not throwing in the towel on this season, just excited for young guys coming in next season! This is a well assembled organization, drafted well lately. It is going to be exciting. But i'm getting ahead of myself...Bring on game 6, 1 period at a time, 1 shift at a time....Rangers will win! :yo:

I agree, I think our best shot at the cup are the next two yrs. We will be able to shore up 3 and fourth lines and get nastier on d. For me this seasons failures might have forced the changes that bring us the cup.

Tortorella says he won't call Sinday an elimination game.

I hate this ****ing guy. **** the two wins they got. Wish they would have gotten swept. Maybe we would have seen this guy gone.

Hey Torts - SUNDAY IS AN ELIMINATION GAME you jerk off

Yes, that's what prevented us from winning this game.

Who said it was? Why does a comment about a poor part of Lundqvist's game immediately mean I am blaming the loss on him (keep in mind I explicitly said earlier in the thread that I did not believe that to be the case -- funny that you conveniently missed that comment)?

Yes, the goalie with a 3-9 career playoff overtime record who was given a 1-0 lead and faced a whopping 33 shots has nothing to do with playoff failures.

Everybody has a piece in this. Nobody is above blame. This "Poor Henrik" garbage is for little kids who still believe in Santa.

Are you kidding? Two goals against on 33 shots is a .943 save percentage. The dude posts a .943 save pct, facing much higher quality scoring chances than Holty did, and the NYR offense mustered one goal all game and a combined 9 shots in the second and third periods. And you're putting that on our goalie? If Lundqvist needs to post a shutout for a win, this team is in trouble. In fact he posted a regulation shutout in game two, and a .974 save pct on 38 shots, and they still lost.

The Rangers have scored two goals over the course of three games and two OT's in Washington and you're putting that on the goalie?

Torts: score 1 and play safe. Rinse and repeat.
