Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Caps Game 5: see you on sunday

I actually agree with this. He did make a lot of great saves but he wasn't able to control any of the shots. He slightly bobbled everything in OT. Still the offense needs to actually hit the net when they decide to shoot..

And why does Nash do the spin around move every single time he has a one on one situation

I'm not going to agree to the original point, which was about controlling a rebound that he didn't cause. However, I'm getting really tired of Hank not melting pucks down and sometimes being the cause of the 50 second 5 on 5 power plays. Also, his glove hand is weak. He does not catch anywhere near the number of shots opposing goalies do, leading to more rebounds and continued pressure in the defensive zone.

That being said, HANK DID NOT COST THE RANGERS TONIGHT AT ALL!

Home team wins again. Nothing to do now but see what happens.

Really wasn't a BS call, the retaliatory penalty is always called. Boyle needs to keep his cool there.

Sorry, man, but I completely disagree. Either you don't call that in OT or you call Ribs for diving as well. It's one or the other. The guy went down like he was shot from a weak ass slash by Boyle after he was absolutely mugging Boyle in front of the ref. You can't call Boyle for that if Ribs isn't going to the box for either roughing or diving.

If you are going to "let them play," then both teams need to be allowed to play. If you are going to call it tight, than both teams need to be called tight.

Do you guys not remember Boyle scored the first goal? Then he took a penalty. if I'm not mistaken, this is a team game. Where was the rest of the team in killing that penalty or getting another goal.

Henrik Lundqvist is this team. Heart and soul. The ONLY one who truly cares, and hates losing more than liking to win.

I feel so bad for him, yet I am so thankful that he is our goalie.

Someone was actually blaming Lundqvist for that loss? The only guy who's shown up for the past 9 years?

I saw the argument that "the goal, not the loss was his fault."

No, the goal isn't. If the skaters could actually play hockey, there wouldn't have been an overtime for that goal to be scored.

I feel for Hank.

But can someone please tell Nash to STOP sticking his ass towards the goal when he has the puck on the rush. As a hockey player the man pisses me off, he has all the talent to be one of the greats but he has zero sense out there. You guys will win at MSG so it should be a fun gm 7 to watch.

You might want to read my statement before you comment on it. I didn't say he was at fault on the last goal - it hit someones leg and bounced right to Ribeiro. I said in general in the overtime he had been giving up rebounds/bobbling almost every shot at him. And I also said he had also made a bunch of great saves in OT (that kick save on Perrault)

It's irrelevant. There were no goals scored off rebounds so who the hell cares?

Wow thats right JT Miller would have helped out there...Why the hell is Pyatt on this team?

Jeez we really need our guys Clowe and Staal to be back

Meh, not even mad. I thought we were gonna lose in 5 games after game 3. So the extra game + potentially more is nice.

Offensively, too conservative on the forecheck. Defensively, too passive on Caps point men.

I am not going to blame the players. Our game plan sucks.

Nash is obviously hurt. Too much Boyle.

Our gameplan didn't suck in the first. Stepping up in the NZ and breaking up the play before the Caps could carry it in. That's an excellent game plan.

Then what?

The players stopped moving their feet. They stopped skating. Things specifically started going downhill when Clowe got elbowed and the PP failed to make the Caps pay. I'm not blaming the coach for this game.

I have no faith in this team winning game seven. None. They are mentally weak, and even more so when Clowe is not in the lineup.

biggest game of the season on Sunday...no tomorrow!...

This loss is on Boyle, if he does not react with a slash to ribiero then we may close em out 1-0. But that is a maybe.

Rangers need to do way better on faceoffs....also there were a ton of faceoffs...

I hope Clowe is alright...i'm assuming if he is not Kreids will prlly b in. May be a great burst of speed out there and I bet he is hungry

Brian Boyle, when you're winning against the most lethal power play in the game, you don't go "retaliating", that's a really boneheaded, selfish move, one which quite likely cost us the series. Good goal tonight, but that selfish $%^& is unacceptable.

Team was mediocre, anyone blaming Lundvquist for the loss is insane. Wouldn't be shocked if he signs elsewhere after his contract is up(1 more year), the guy wants a cup, and unless some changes are made here, it's not happening with this bunch. When the pressure's on the line, you play better, not collapse.

Finally: 5 on 5 PK. I'm not a fire Torts person, but that is making me rethink that stance. PP was a complete disaster when we needed it most, we basically had a four minute man advantage and got not even a decent chance out of it. Fix it, or hire someone who will. We saw what worked, why the hell isn't it being done? Torts to blame again for that...

Some changes need to happen over the summer for this orginization, not sure what they are, but I'd start with buying out Richards, hiring a PP coach, and trying to get a PP specialist to be what Richards was supposed to be. Torts gets one more year with the new team, but if next year is more of the same, You're Fired!

Refs have been calling retaliatory penalties all playoffs long. Boyle needs to know that. Not saying it wasn't embellished, because it was, but Boyle CANNOT put himself in that situation, especially with what's going on at the other end (odd man rush for the Rangers). He gave the ref an opportunity, and that call is made 100 times out of 100.

I'm happy he scored, truly. But **** him.

Who cares? THere was a dive and it was not called. There was some serious roughing by Ribs and it was not called. These were both in direct view of the ref who was watching the whole time.

I would agree with you if the ref only saw the retaliation. That would just be a fact of life. This was not that at all, which is why it's such a horrible display of reffing.

If I had to guess, I would bet that the ref was worried that the Caps were called for too many penalties. Some weak ass, ******** excuse like that.

I'm not going to agree to the original point, which was about controlling a rebound that he didn't cause. Pretty much what I'm saying. He played good today. He made a lot of big saves. The goals were not his fault. BUT his rebound control was poor the entire game.
