The only thing laughable here is your lack of understanding of forward defensive play. :)

Yes, Because me pointing out all his flaws on offense while saying he's "good" defensively just not "VERY GOOD jesus-saurusrex" clearly means i don't understand, It's not like i watch every game or anything.

Get a grip. Not everyone shares you fictional options.I see why people always end up arguing with you now.

Once again, Many thanks for the el-oh-el's

It was great to see Kreider get that third goal after all the close chances he's had so far. McDonagh was great. DZ was very good. Dorsett showed some serious balls and did a nice job against a way bigger guy. Talbot looked very steady yet again.

The Tortorella chant didn't make a ton of sense. The guy wanted to be the coach, he got fired. Plus, for all the problems his strategy had, a lot of big pieces of this team were molded by him in positive ways, namely McD and Stralman.

Overall, this was a big win and they looked mostly good getting it.

Yes. You clearly described him as a good defensive player when you wrote:

"Just because he wants to reinact David vs Golliath for us doesn't make up for his garbage player as a forward . . ."

I forgot that "garbage player" meant good.

For all the problems he had his 2011-2012 team will probably be the most successful Rangers team of this decade.

The Torts hate still blows my mind.

Kreider-Stepan-Nash looked great and they probably should have been put together sooner. I wasn't impressed with the rest of the lines, but with our lineup I think it's going to be hard to put together 4 lines that can score on a consistent basis.

Hagelin has really disappeared after a great start. I knew his production would fall off but I am barely noticing his speed out there.

Del Zotto looked decent and Falk and Girardi played better than they have been as of late. Overall the team put forth a more consistent effort and played a more complete game than they did against the Bruins. The question is can they maintain it this time? Seems like they put up a good game or two only to follow it up with a stinker, which is why we have been hovering around .500 for the past month.

Great win, nice to see Kreider with the trick. I can't believe how much bickering is on this forum, kind of entertaining though. We need some toughness. Players like Boyle dropping the mitts shouldn't have to happen. This year I start cringing when the gloves are dropped. Dorsett, gotta love his spirit & spunk, but he's gonna end up punch drunk taking on the leagues heavyweights every night. I like Mashinter in that role (I know there are haters) but that kid can fight, google his scraps, he can hold his own against the AHL's big boys...which are pretty darn close to the legit big league goons. We need to protect our players, hate fighting or love it, it's always been a part of the game. Wouldn't take much to pick up a Coulton Orr. My two cents.

I see you're new. Welcome to the freak show.

How many games this season has the team that it felt like played better actually lost the game? It seems like it's at least 10.

Love Boyle's game, think it is great that he at least shows some heart and drops the gloves, but seriously it is comical how bad of a fighter he is. Nothing against him, but lol.

Calling him a ***** is ****ing stupid, however. How many people here would drop the gloves with Bieksa, let alone Chara?

Did u love Boyle's game on the Canucks second goal? He loses the draw, stumbles and bumbles trying to cover the point leaving all day for the point shot and the rebound ends up in the back of the net. AV is starting to figure out that he wins draws, blocks shots and that's it. Last year, Boyle would have centered the 3rd line today. AV kept him on the 4th line and limited his ice time. Soon he will be benched and then moved for a pick. The progression has begun.

I thought Falk would show an inclination to use his size to defend his teammates (especially after Sestito going headhunting). In my opinion, that is a topic more worthy of discussion than Boyle's lack of fighting ability.

Apparently some here value stupid **** over his great defense, great forechecking, solid hitting, and great faceoff taking.

The word great can only be used to describe his faceoffs. We get pinned in our zone when he's on the ice on a regular basis because his skating is so bad, his instincts are terrible and once he has the puck, his ability to make a good clear is very average. The fact that he can't fight is not important; he shouldn't do it because he is a girl and he makes the entire team look soft. His inability to fight is the least of my issues with him at ES.

Brassard had a great game. The numbers don't show it but he controlled the pace of the game and the puck when he was on the ice.

I credit Torts 100% for Stralman, though.

Its awsome to see Strålman's game come around, and Torts definitely helped him. No doubt about it.

But I also want to point out that Strålman at one point basically was the most hyped player at hfboards, almost at least. For a good reason. He played really really well in Sweden and on the international scene. Then he played for three organizations that were really messy.

In the end, his problem boiled down to him being an offensive player that just wasn't top 20-25 on the PP, and hence very few were just prepared to invest in him. How many teams got room for an offensive D that isn't good enough on the PP?

Here Torts helped Strålman, he got him to play a 2-way game that was good enough for a top 4 role. And now Anton is building an offensive game that isn't half bad.

Boyle is a very solid hitter. He finishes his checks and follows through and is one of the most prolific hitters of any forward in the league. He isn't out there putting guys through the boards, but he makes very good tactical decisions when to hit and hits often.

And his hockey IQ isn't terrible at all. He doesn't have great offensive instincts, but his IQ is fine in the neutral and defensive zones.

This Boyle hate is hysterical.

As is your hockey knowledge. there are so many basic plays (at least should be basic) that he cannot execute night in and night out. Acceptance of passes; ability to make easy passes on the tape; getting to the red line before dumping a puck in, just to name a few. Derek Stepan and Mats Zuccarello intercept more passes and lift more sticks in the defensive zone in one period than Brian Boyle will in a week. These simple yet important part of playing defense he simple does not execute. You guys severely overrate his defensive effectiveness; especially at even strength.

No one here would fight a guy the size of Zucc, let alone the size of Bieksa or Chara

McD was going to be a stud; Torts didn't hurt that. Stralman has clearly flourished here when he didn't in other places. Torts deserves credit for that. I was at the game and we had some fun at Torts' expense because he never trusted CK and well then today happened. We also looked great on the PP which was never the case in the Torts years. He deserved to be jeered today and he was. So what?
