NEW YORK – It had to feel awfully good. For the modest player who shoved it up his former coach’s rear-end on Saturday afternoon, he’ll never admit it.

But you know it felt good. You could tell when Chris Kreider jumped into the glass after scoring his first of three goals, it felt good. You know it, even if he refused to admit to any of it.

Of course it felt good. It was his first-career hat trick, it came in a 5-2 win, and it came against the coach that didn’t believe in him, that didn’t put him in a position to succeed last season.

PRE-GAME PRESS CONFERENCES

Yes. You clearly described him as a good defensive player when you wrote:

"Just because he wants to reinact David vs Golliath for us doesn't make up for his garbage player as a forward . . ."

I forgot that "garbage player" meant good.

1) Garbage play*
2) how many times did i REPEAT his defense is fine and his IQ on offense is the garbage part
3) don't answer #2

and yet, after several repeats of it. has.nothing.to.do.with.defense. here we are with "lulz keep hatin'! his defense is t3h swag"

Now if you're done talking about Brian Jesus's defense, everyone can go on their merry little way. Or whining about lundqvist. Whatever floats your boat. (besides boyle's defense :sarcasm:)

McD was going to be a stud; Torts didn't hurt that. Stralman has clearly flourished here when he didn't in other places. Torts deserves credit for that. I was at the game and we had some fun at Torts' expense because he never trusted CK and well then today happened. We also looked great on the PP which was never the case in the Torts years. He deserved to be jeered today and he was. So what?

So, I thought it was silly. I disagree that he deserved to be jeered. It's not a big deal, just a thought I had about the game. This is a thread about the game.

CK never earned it Torts' trust. He didn't earn AV's trust either until he changed his game around a bit and started to "get it." It's not like he was playing the way he's been when Torts was here. He looks like a different player, and that's great.

It's amazing in a game that we won handily and that 1 of 2 goals was caused by Boyle falling, you'd think if Boyle would get bashed for anything it should for the 2nd goal. You guys really need to watch boxing or something seems like you care more about Boyle losing a fight after the game ends than of the best wins of our season.

As is your hockey knowledge. there are so many basic plays (at least should be basic) that he cannot execute night in and night out. Acceptance of passes; ability to make easy passes on the tape; getting to the red line before dumping a puck in, just to name a few. Derek Stepan and Mats Zuccarello intercept more passes and lift more sticks in the defensive zone in one period than Brian Boyle will in a week. These simple yet important part of playing defense he simple does not execute. You guys severely overrate his defensive effectiveness; especially at even strength.

You really have no idea what you're talking about.

I've analyzed why Boyle is a great defensive player and all you do is rant about how he's a *****. It's cool. I know why you can't elaborate. ;)

Woah, watch out, we got a badass over here. You're so tough behind your keyboard.

Just as tough behind his keyboard as Crosby is behind a ref. Funny how tough guys are when there isn't a chance that they can get hit.

Although, admittedly, Crosby is obviously far tougher since he actually plays the game and actually has been hit. We've finally found someone Crosby is tougher than!

Oh, yeah. You clearly meant "player" when you then criticized his defensive game as nothing more than a few poke checks and faceoffs. Fairly sure anyone that read what you wrote understands you meant player and not play. Furthermore, you only changed your tune after I called you out and you began to back off of the garbage player stuff. "Garbage play as a forward" followed with the supposed indictment of his defensive play as some poke checks and faceoffs makes it pretty clear you are referring to him as a player. But I digress.

#2 (and, thus, #3) is meaningless since all of my comments went back to your initial remark (and still do).

Moving on to your final "point." Where, pray tell, do I "whin[e] about [L]undqvist" outside of when he lets in a bad goal? I'm as even handed as you can get when it comes to the guy.

I never changed my point.
He's "Ok" on defense and is absolute garbage on offense. Here let me paste it a few times so your head can process it and not write it off as ignored.

Even if i wrote garbage player i clarified my statements since then, But thanks for pointing out more useless arguements.

You are literally the only one here that thinks boyle has an ounce of "special" in him and has some sort of super powers in his defensive game. Multiple people calling YOU out with facts and you just write it off as trash talk because you have no real answer. Your response is always "i watch boyle, I am expert. you have no idea blah blah blah"

Poster : boyle has problems with simplistic plays such as (inset examples here)
Your response : you have no idea what you are talking about

Fantastic reply.

and since it wasn't apperently obvious (oh wait it was..) the last line was sarcasm. But i'm sure there's an excuse for that too :sarcasm:

Do you need me to actually go and post your quote?

"Just because he wants to reinact David vs Golliath for us doesn't make up for his garbage player as a forward. Blocking a shot here and there and winning some face offs does not give him a pass."

I think that anyone who can read would understand what you meant there. It was painfully obvious from the beginning that you were posting that Boyle is a garbage player and you tried to marginalize his defense. This is really not that difficult and I'm surprised that you need me to dig your quote up for you so you can understand what you said.

Furthermore, I've already said why Boyle is a very good defensive player (obviously you failed to read that post and it's not surprising).

He's a solid hitter and is constantly at the top of the league for forwards in hits. His playing of the angles is fantastic (this is from his days as a defenseman). He uses that along with his average skating (which is solid, then, for a guy of his stature) to be able to force players to the outside constantly. He's great at winning faceoffs. Finally, his shot blocking is up there with Callahan's.

In the offensive zone, he's relatively poor but is still one of the best on the team at cycling the puck along the boards. He'll never score 20 again, but he's not a black hole like someone like Powe or Halpern was/is.

But now I'm just repeating myself since I already said all of that in this thread. :sarcasm:

Finally, unlike you, I'll also actually keep a promise and make this my last post to you about the subject (how many posts ago did you say that -- about 10 or so?). :)

The last word is yours.

I. CLARIFIED.MY.STATEMENTS.SINCE.THEN.STOP.BRINGING.UP.RANDOM.SENTENCES.OUT.OF.CONTEXT. It's becoming very clear you are the one that has no idea what they are talking about and just revert to the same childish tactics post after post.

Actually what you said was, "I'm gonna exaggerate random hockey one liners and incorporate boyle's name into it and make it sound like it's true when it actually is not"

He's a solid hitter and is constantly at the top of the league for forwards in hits. His playing of the angles is fantastic (this is from his days as a defenseman). He's an average hitter. Get your glasses checked.
2013 - Brian boyle - #107th (Yup, he's near the top 100 in hits!)
We're using average skating as a compliment now because he's tall?

Forces players to the outside? When was this? Is that why boyle is out there against guys like Ovechkin?
Speaking of forcing to the outside. thats exactly what he does to himself before throwing a limp one handed backhand on net.

I already mentioned face-offs and PK shot blocks. Thanks for repeating.

In the offensive zone, he's relatively poor but is still one of the best on the team at cycling the puck along the boards. He'll never score 20 again, but he's not a black hole like someone like Powe or Halpern was/is.

One of the best at cycling? :biglaugh:
He constantly wraps it around the boards despite having a teamate in prime position to pass to. Flubs routine passes, takes one handed backhand shots from terrible angles and of course shoots at the goalie's chest should he have the puck entering the blueline. The skill!!!

Lets see, Hagelin, Cally, Zucc, Stepan, Richards, Dorsett and so on. Yeah, he's near the top on that aswell.

Finally, unlike you, I'll also actually keep a promise and make this my last post to you about the subject (how many posts ago did you say that -- about 10 or so?). :)

Thank the hockey gods.

Class Dismissed.

I'm pro Boyle as far as a very good defensive player.... He has moments in the offensive zone when he does some good but he's not gonna be lighting the lamp all the time.

As far as not using childish tactics I think you forgot the :sarcasm: at the end.

Team gets a solid win, a couple of guys play excellent games, and 90 percent of the posts are BB arguments. Well done lol

For some odd reason some people felt the need to call him a ***** after he fought Bieksa and it spiraled from there. Dude fights Chara the day before and Bieksa today and he's somehow a passionless *****? Oof.

If i can butt in, i think Boyle is a good player and i never understood the hate for the guy since i've been following the board. He is a good defensive player and does little things for the team, he might not have the most offense in his game but you dont win with ONLY offensive players in this league. Boyle is a big part of our team whether he wins a fight or loses one. He had the nerve to fight and that should tell you he is putting himself on the line for the team. He does most of the little things that people loved Dubinsky and Prust for, why hate Boyle? Never understood it and never will. I hope we keep Boyle, he is a good player. Hating him for losing a fight is insane imo

The only thing I worry about is overpaying for him. I wouldn't give him much of a raise if at all (I feel like his current pay level is very fair for him). I have a feeling he prices himself off of our team, which would be unfortunate.
