Admittedly, this is where my thoughts have been trending. It’s worrisome. Fox is a different breed. He bet on himself. Stayed in school, knew he wanted to be here, has been a stud since day 1. We didn’t really develop him. He showed up, said “Hi, I’m you’re new favorite player” and we’ve essentially been worshipping him with more and more fervor every day since. Lindgren we also didn’t really develop, but he’s also just a different breed - that Dan Girardi, I eat pucks for breakfast and I like to bleed type of crazy. We didn’t draft either one of them.
Of the players we did draft… Lias, Chytil, Kravtsov, Miller, Lundkvist, Kakko, Lafreniere… KAM is the most successful, I guess? And it’s partially been gifted to him. His tremendous athletic gifts allow him to do some really great things but we haven’t necessarily seen much development or progress from him. I admit he’s been pretty decent this year, but he still has his really bad moments. Lundkvist is far from being a big concern or anything, but for the amount of “best D prospect outside of NA” hype he got, he’s been underwhelming. #7OA total bust. #9OA head case half way out the door. #2OA zero points so far in year 3. #1OA is statistically the weakest first overall pick since 1999. Chytil has played parts of 5 seasons now, just under 200 games, and if anything he’s regressing. Certainly stagnant. There is, at least, a valid reason to be concerned with our drafting/development, especially at forward.
Obviously we’re blessed with goaltending assessment.
