There is still a lot of time to fix the mistakes. The biggest take away is that we are getting points while going through the growing pains. A lot of fans care more about them being right or their player playing or whatever. But the fact of the matter is no one single player can change this team right now. It has to be internal. And that’s what GG is doing. Obviously these things take time. I’d say everyone relax but this world seems to love negativity more and more each day. So just do you I guess lol.

Is it going to just be some light bulb that switches on suddenly? We should be seeing some progress by now. We’re still getting caved in game in and game out :/

No it’s not a light bulb. It’s one game here (CBJ game) and one period there (Ott third period) it’s a slow progress but it’s still a progress. None of this is going to happen over night nor is it going to happen in just one season. This is the hardest part of the rebuild. Establishing a winning culture. And on the path to that your going to piss in a lot of people Cheerios and are going to have bumps in the road. It’s ok though because it will be worth it. But again it’s absolutely critical to remember that this is a long painful process.

You have to see who is the player willing to pay the price of victory and who is just the professional athlete. There is a big difference

When Kakko has the puck on the right side in the offensive, where is Panarin -yeah standing in his "office" in the offensive zone, high up on the left side on the other side of two or three opponents. Kakko needs to play on a line that cycles and engages physically. Strome and Panarin ain't it. It's a TEAM game, not a one man show where the big cheese does whatever.

yea panarin has never been happy w/ kakko on the other wing, their games aren't complimentary but panarin especially has no interest in finding a way to make it work incorporating kakko. in general i think we have several mismatched pieces throughout the lineup...i think best fit for kakko would be bumping him up w/ kreider/mika who will cycle down low but idno if there's a great fit for panarin/strome. goodrow maybe, blais maybe...laf feels like someone who could play off panarin but he doesn't seem comfortable moving to rw. and then 3rd line w/ chytil being garbage so far has deflated anyone he's with so that just sacrifices whoever he's paired with. but in general, we have a lot of good pieces currently deployed in combos that reduce their ability to produce. and it may be that some pieces need to be moved to give us a complete lineup. can only go on so long getting nothing 5 on 5 from anyone in the top 9...and handicapping the team further with chytil's line literally being a total waste of ice time

Exactly and especially infront of the net. Kakko’s biggest strength by far is to manauver with the puck in the attacking zone and to take it to the net. You need help form your teammates to do that, players setting screens and what not.

I think it would be a much better fit next to Ziba and Kreider.

Was nice to see us get a couple on the PP.
When you have a 2-0 lead against a team that just lost multiple games in a row, you have to bury them..
Chytil s time is ruining out here. He’s got about 10 games left to start producing. Our line combos at even strength aren’t clicking, except 4th line. They’ve been our most consistent. Better when Reaves is there.
I knew the situation with strome this year would be a hinderance with PP time away from our young guys etc. he’s not playing too well and kakko on that line doesn’t work.
It’s like 2 popular kids in school avoiding the 3rd wheel.
If Zibby wasn’t scoring, he’d be public enemy #1 right now after signing that deal. I still have my doubts about it and what direction we should have gone in.
Honestly, maybe scratch chytil for 2-3 games and try LaF-Barron-Kakko if LaF-Chytil-Kakko can’t produce.
Put Blais with strome/panarin and try to make that work.
All in all, still too early to panic or give a serious evaluation. We’re still at the tinkering/working the bugs out phase and are lucky we’ve worked hard and stole a few games with shesty s elite net minding.
Maybe putting Barron between the gives them a spark.
I would say drop them to 4th line for a game or 2 but I’m sure their confidence is fragile right now. Do something to help them work thru it.

This team flat out sucks except for shesterkin. Lost to a pretty bad Canucks team pretty badly. Gallant isn't doing very well. We need a shake up on D. Tinordi should not be playing hockey. We need Jones. This organization is incapable of handling their prospects right. All 10 prospects and so far we are 0/10 except Fox.

Ridiculous that kakko is still with panarin and Strome. Strome can say all the right things about adjusting to kakko but panarin doesn't give a f*** about it and they make a terrible line. Panarin wouldn't bend to playing with kakko last year either. Put the kids line together and give them freedom. Other teams empower their young players but this team and the stars that force their way to NY won't step aside and support their teammates.

This is unfortunately correct.
If panarin has strome on his line, he’s going to play however he wants and Strome will do as he’s told. Strome is his lackey, and his career wouldn’t be anywhere close to what it is now without breadman.
When we play good physical teams, they will probably get beat on more often then not, at least they’ll draw a tough defensive match up.
The 3rd line really needs to start producing on a game by game basis. Not month by month.
Need to take advantage of that mismatch.
I doubt we see panarin even attempt to change his style while strome is still a ranger.
They’ll prob continue to put up multi point nights against bad teams. Otherwise I don’t expect much change
Our secondary scoring has to step it up while the top 2 lines are in this funk.
Keep treading water until the right line combos are found.
Shesty has been a savage this season so far, they need to start supporting him with scoring

Admittedly, this is where my thoughts have been trending. It’s worrisome. Fox is a different breed. He bet on himself. Stayed in school, knew he wanted to be here, has been a stud since day 1. We didn’t really develop him. He showed up, said “Hi, I’m you’re new favorite player” and we’ve essentially been worshipping him with more and more fervor every day since. Lindgren we also didn’t really develop, but he’s also just a different breed - that Dan Girardi, I eat pucks for breakfast and I like to bleed type of crazy. We didn’t draft either one of them.

Of the players we did draft… Lias, Chytil, Kravtsov, Miller, Lundkvist, Kakko, Lafreniere… KAM is the most successful, I guess? And it’s partially been gifted to him. His tremendous athletic gifts allow him to do some really great things but we haven’t necessarily seen much development or progress from him. I admit he’s been pretty decent this year, but he still has his really bad moments. Lundkvist is far from being a big concern or anything, but for the amount of “best D prospect outside of NA” hype he got, he’s been underwhelming. #7OA total bust. #9OA head case half way out the door. #2OA zero points so far in year 3. #1OA is statistically the weakest first overall pick since 1999. Chytil has played parts of 5 seasons now, just under 200 games, and if anything he’s regressing. Certainly stagnant. There is, at least, a valid reason to be concerned with our drafting/development, especially at forward.

Obviously we’re blessed with goaltending assessment.

Miller, up to this point, has been pretty awful. Kid has at least a few head shakers every game. He's the anti-Fox. Out of position and not making the right play.

We need another like him ASAP. Let Berard and Cuylle marinate this year and maybe next and maybe we can get someone with a motor who can make some plays.
So we can ship him off the the Canes?

5 on 3 late in game and that is best you can do you don't deserve to win.
Feel like they have tried almost everything with Laf and Kakko. Besides putting them on the 4th line nothing seems to work. One doesn't wanna be here and the other just can't even get a shot on net right now.
I'm sorry I fell behind. Which one is which?

So all the kids we drafted suck? Yea I ain’t buying that. When all the apples go rotten, it’s time to look at the tree. 1 cup in 80 years, what makes you think we know how to develop star forwards? Who was the last one we developed? Arrogance is what this organization preaches. The statistical odds of all these kids being a bust as a result of nature rather than nurture seems slim to none.
Not sure how you got that from my post. I agree with this.

There's something seriously rotten with the way this team conducts offense.

We saw it last year against tight teams like Boston and the Islanders.

Kakko and Lafreneire don't do anything.

Zibanejad has to cheat his ass off and pretend two zones don't exist to produce at an elite level.

Kreider has like one point at even strength.

Chytil never really developed past like, his second callup.

Trouba has 41 points in 117 games.

Panarin doesn't count (and also cheats).

Our only good, well-rounded offensive player who can produce and actually play pro hockey at the same time isn't a forward.

These problems are not new, and it's still very early in the Gallant era, but I seriously hope he does something to change this culture. We're more physical and it's in a constructive way which is nice, but that wasn't really the problem.

The team has never, in all the years I’ve been watching, really developed a scoring winger from scratch. Who would be the best example? Kreider? Even he is a guy we were thinking was a surefire 70-80 point guy and he ended up more like a 45 pointer.

i started stopping at building towers like chocolate bars before games to eating when kakko scoring points to scoreboards jumbotrones but got a tired long time ago when no points to be setted up was, like never. this was already from first season of him. and second. now 3rd season a going on and no points to table even after thay say and evidense a putted up for that he at summer hevily musselated.

i dont know.....youngsters today, thin and musselated, perverts and "normals"...they like playing ATARI/video games and stuff all day night long, and eating ENERGIZING drinks at lunch and cholate bars at night so. all this while in some small apartment alone in dark

i dont know, future ...dark dark

sir avgard hockeyprofssor
I agree with the bolded.

Ive said it before. You can't have a spilt team in the physicality department and count it as a whole. The top 6 are ultra soft. Winning teams have their superstars actually play hockey instead of leveraging a handful of skill plays every game to get by. Their offense consists entirely of fancy plays and not actually real hockey plays. I honestly think those guys are affecting the kids' development by osmosis and seeing that fancy shit game in and game out.
Wish I could LIKE this reply twice.

I agree with everything you said except for the last sentence. Lafreniere was pegged by everyone as being an Eichel/AM34 talent. He’s looked like one of the worst 1st overalls of all time since he’s stepped in the league. Daigle, Yakupov, and Stefan have all outplayed him. He needs to wake up and at this point I doubt he actually does with us.
Also, if you want to sell him, best do it before other teams start considering him a bust and his value plummets.
